Life has been super busy lately, I am pretty sure that I haven’t had a chance to even catch my breath things have moved so quickly. I guess sometimes life comes at you in waves and you just genuinely can’t control it. Mindfulness is definitely something that I’m working on and my progress is basically ongoing.
I’ve got to be honest, mindfulness is something that sounds so easy to do but in reality it is one of the hardest things in the world and when life gets in the way, I’m trying to not make loads of excuses for not being mindful. I am definitely the kind of person that will say I’m too busy, there is too much going on and just ignore the fact that I need let things go sometimes.
I wrote a post recently on giving myself a bit of a break (you can read that post here) and this one definitely leads on from that.
There are definitely a few things that I’m trying to incorporate into my daily life so I can learn to be more mindful. So what are those things?
Being More Patient
I’ve got to be honest, I really struggle with this one, mainly because for the people who actually know me, know that I am the least patient person in the world. I’m the kind of person that likes to get things done, get things sorted and just keep going. I’m definitely learning that I can’t always get everything done straight away, sometimes it takes a little more time, and there is a reason for that.
Letting Go Of Negativity
I can be a bit of a negative nelly, I’ve had quite a few bad days over the last few weeks where I’ve been in a bit of a difficult place, but I’m working on it. I notice that when I hold onto that negativity, it basically has a massive impact upon everything that I do. It clouds my perspective, and my judgement, and I don’t need that in my life.
Stop Judging Yourself
Now I’m the worst for this. Literally. I hold myself to such an unattainable high standard sometimes, that even when I make a small mistake, you would think the world was falling in. I’m definitely learning to accept that we are all human, mistakes happen, and we do what we can to fix them. As long as you learn from the mistake that is something that is very important.
Yoga
Now I’ve always talked about how important my yoga practice is to me, it calms me, it centres my mind and not only that it helps me to put my best foot forward. As someone who struggles with anxiety on such a regular basis, yoga has definitely helped me to manage my anxiety more and not feel like internally I am drowning.
These are all things that I am working on when it comes to my mindfulness journey. I’ve got to admit it isn’t an easy journey, but I am trying and that is what matters.
Are there any tils that you could give for this? Let me know in the comments!

One thing that might help with patience is taking regular breaks. My mum will often work for 45 minutes, and then take a 15 minute break. Not only is this good for preventing distraction, it might also be good to let you take a step back, and then start again/continue with a fresh head. Also, I love that skirt!

I don’t know if meditation is also a part of your yoga routine but that really helps me to calm down and be patient. I always feel so much better after a meditation session (even if it is just 5-10 minutes)

I love meditation xx
You sound so similar to me – I am very impatient, even with myself, and I do find it hard not to get caught in that negativity loop. (Even worse if I get sucked into the moaning loop in the staffroom!)
I really like the idea of just not judging myself for those things, but working on improving them. This post was timed perfectly for me, thank you 🙂

I try and practice mindfulness on a weekly basis, it helps so much. Especially when you just need to take yourself away from life and to just recharge your batteries. Letting go of negativity is a great way of practicing mindfulness, a great post as always Amie! xx

Yoga is something I really need to do more of xx
I love meditation, it’s helped so much over the years. It’s definitely helped me be more mindful x
I can be quite negative myself, mostly about myself but sometimes other things too. I have gotten better at that though. 🙂

Great post! Being mindful can be challenging at times with all that happens in life. I really like the tips you included. Thanks for sharing.
I’m still trying to perfect mindfullness in my everyday life but when I get on top of it, I feel so much better x
I absolutely adore yoga! I’m trying to incorporate it more into my daily routine and it’s so so so relaxing. I 100% notice a difference in my attitude if I’ve done yoga practice. I’m awful for getting stuck in the self-judgemental loop too. It’s so easy to when you’re on social media and comparing yourself (not something I try to do but it happens!). xx

I definitely need to get back into some mindfulness practice, I have been a lot more mentally healthy in the last year but it’s safe to say I could be a lot morepresent

Negativity is a bad flaw of mine, and when people comment on it, I always shrug it off with ‘I’m not negative, I’m just a realist’.
Such a terrible habit!!
