5 Things I Learned When I Spent A Day With Coffee & Netflix

Let’s be honest, spending the day with just coffee and Netflix sounds like the dream, and you’re probably wondering, how could I possibly learn something from a day like that? Well I did, with a cup of coffee in hand. I mean Netflix is an absolute dream come true don’t get me wrong and it is definitely some of the best money we spend a month but I spent a whole day watching Netflix – including a lot of Gilmore Girls and a hell of a lot of delicious coffee, so what did I learn?

1. I Need To Do This More

Social media can be ridiculously overwhelming, and lately I have really pulled back from it, it has been tough, so I’ve pulled back. When I decided I’d curl up, grab a cup of coffee and watch Netflix it was a release. It was calming and soothing. I felt a release and it was such a great feeling to turn everything off and chilling out.

2. There is a life outside the social media bubble

I love creating my content for social media, but do you know what it isn’t everything, sometimes you just need to be away from it, to not worry about social media, or the photos. If I’d taken photos of me on that day, I’d be in bed, wrapped up in my duvet, with my hair looking like a birds nest, pj’s and no bra. It wasn’t pretty but I was really damn comfy.

3. I need to slow down and enjoy the moment

When you have nothing but Netflix and a cup of coffee in your day, you notice how much you want to stay busy, how much you have to do daily, and on days where you don’t need to do too much, we need to slow down. Sometimes you need to water your own garden before you can do anything else, water your roses, slow down and enjoy those roses.

4. Carbohydrates & Netflix are the perfect combination

Let’s be honest beige food tastes the best, so give me all the potatoes in various different forms, chips, wedges, roast potatoes, you name it, I’m down. Add in your favourite programmes Gilmore Girls or Friends in my opinion – or if you would prefer, have your favourite film on loop.

5. Life is too short to not do what makes me happy

As I sat there eating all my favourite carbohydrates, watching Netflix, I had a thought, life is too short to not do all the amazing things that make me happy. If eating carbohydrates, drinking coffee and watching my favourite Netflix shows and I’ve not nothing I need to be doing, then you’re damn right I’m going to continue to do it.

So even though this post makes me sound really really lazy, because I spent the day drinking coffee and watching Netflix, but sometimes we just need the ultimate chill day, and that is exactly what I needed.

I find it really hard to sit down and just watch tv or Netflix, but I definitely need to get out of the social media bubble. It’s all I do sometimes and it’s really draining! I’ve started watching the Bodyguard on BBC iPlayer and am really enjoying that 🙂 x

Every day is a Netflix day for me lol Well, not all day every day but I honestly do not watch terrestrial tv these days. Inbetween doing bits for my blog, then you will find me watching some show on Netflix or Amazon Prime. At the moment it’s Ripper Street on Amazon Prime, the second viewing of its 5 seasons. It is an absolute must to switch off from social media and just enjoy time to yourself. 🙂 x

One of my favorite things to do after work is to put my phone away in the bedroom and put something on to watch. Lately, I’ve been bingeing old episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (favorite series ever!) and baking a bit here and there. I give myself a time limit during the day to work on blog posts, scroll through Twitter, pretend I understand what Instagram is, etc. and once that time is up, I do other things and it’s honestly so rewarding and relaxing.

    • amiecadwallader@outlook.com says:

I used to hate sitting in doing nothing all day, id feel like id wasted a valuable day. • Honestly, Netflix is my favourite way to spend quality alone time and I wouldn’t care for those who try to tell me it’s a waste of time. I love watching my favourite TV shows, having a laugh and eating some good junk food! It’s a good way to turn your brain off and get a break from social media and life.
