Let’s Have A Catch Up – Where I’ve Been & What’s Going on

Hiya, remember me? It’s a been a while since I’ve actually sat down and wrote a bit of a personal post. Blogging has been my escape for over 4 years, I actually missed my blogs 4th birthday, oops. I guess with the headspace that I’ve been in, I’ve not felt the overwhelming urge to write, to post not just on my blog but on my other social media too.

Juggling a full time job with my blog, my husband, BB-8 and various other things that are going on in my life right now, has been an absolute struggle. To the point where I’ve had a bit of sob to my husband because I feel like I’m failing. I’ve missing blogging a lot, and it has taken a back seat lately because I need to prioritise other things.

So where have I been?

Basically I’ve been down a deep anxious hole. I am the kind of person that likes to think I can do everything or at least attempt to. I’m awful at saying no, not taking a break and putting too much of on my plate, some how I have managed to make it to July in one piece.

Life has not been particularly kind lately, my mental health has struggled, but I’m trying to take it in my stride, I’ve had a little cry when needed, taken a few deep breaths, and tried to remind myself of how far I have come on my journey.

In terms of my blog?

Well it’s still here, and I am trying to create more content when I can, but trying to find the time has proven difficult, mainly because when it gets to the weekend, I literally want to curl up in a ball with my husband and my rabbit and switch off. Like I’ve said, blogging definitely helped me with my mental health journey, it helped me to survive, it bought me out of my shell and most importantly it made me feel like me again.

I have cut back on my schedule quite a bit lately, and when it comes to what I’m posting I only want to post when I really want to, about things I adore and not because I feel like I have to or my views are crap.

Blogging is still a massive part of what I do and who I am, but I can’t do it all, and I’m learning to accept that, all be it a bitter pill to swallow.

The reason that I am actually writing this is because I felt like I hadn’t had much of a chance to engage with the community and support you guys as much I used to. Life has definitely got in the way, but I am trying to make a comeback.

I’m not going anywhere (obviously) and I still love my blog so much, but while I try and find a happy medium between blogging and life, it might be a bit intermittent. I want to end this post on a happy note because I feel like it has been a little doom and gloom.

In terms of everything else, things are good, I’ve been in my job 5 months, I work with one of my childhood friends, I love the team I’m on and I’m also super grateful for how understanding they are when it comes to my mental health.

Paul and I are slowly looking for the right house to buy, we always knew this would take time, as this will be our forever home where we will have our children and one day see our grandchildren.

Sorry for the super long and emotional post, I will be posting a bit more soon, I have lots of beauty posts going live soon which I hope you will all enjoy!

I’m now going to have a little cry because I feel like I’ve just put my heart and soul into one emotional post.

  • aw I hat reading that you’ve been down recently and struggling to find the balance – I have actually been in the same spot. Since my huge career change last September, I’ve not felt myself my blog has had to sit on the back burner and my stress levels have increased so much! But now I am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel!
I am always here if you want a chin wag!
