Winter wellness is so important and it is vital to find ways to take care of yourself during the colder and darker months. It’s the time of the year where we all really need a bit of TLC, and to make sure we focus on taking care of ourselves a bit more.
Here are my ultimate ways to focus on wellness.
Pamper sessions
In my opinion pamper sessions are absolutely vital. They allow you to wind down, pamper yourself give yourself a bit of you time.
My pamper sessions always include:
- a hot shower
- a good face mask
- meditation
- a nourishing body moisturiser
- a relaxing environment
- fresh nail varnish.
I am definitely the kind of person that feels like they have their life together a bit more with a fresh set of nails.

Get a good night’s sleep
Sleep is something that is so important. It allows your mind and body to recharge, but not only that gives you the energy to function.
I always notice that when I haven’t had a great night’s sleep I feel:
- sluggish
- my mind feels foggy
- my migraines are triggered
- my food choices are off
- I procrastinate more.
What helps me, is finding a wind down routine that works for me, and this includes:
- reducing screen time in the evening
- using pillow sprays
- creating a cosy sanctuary in my room.
Stay extra warm
Let’s be honest the battle to stay warm when it is absolutely freezing is needed. When it comes to staying warm, there are a few wonderful tips that I use which include:
- layers
- hot chocolate with marshmallows
- blankets
- candles
- fluffy socks
- hot water bottles.
These tips really do help me to stay warm and stay cosy during the colder months.
Light therapy
If like me you struggle with SAD during the darker months, light therapy really helps. I have fairy lights everywhere in my room, but I also invested in a Lumie light.
A Lumie light has worked wonders for when I need to wake up in the morning, it simulates the sunrise, and can really help when it comes to those early mornings.
I love my Lumie light so much that I also invested in one for my husband and my dad. They make wonderful gifts!
Bring the outside in
Let’s be honest, in the winter no one wants to go outside without 5 layers and a portable heater.
There are so many things you can bring into you decor to give your home that outdoor/indoor feeling including:
- dried flowers
- house plants
- wooden furniture.
Having plants indoors can really give me such calmness and helps me to relax, especially after a long day.
Change up your skincare routine
As the weather changes our skin needs different things. I have switched out a few products recently to meet my skins needs.
Where I have combination, it is important for me to see what my skin needs. This includes:
- changing my moisturiser to focus on the drier areas on my face
- switching up my serums
- using products with hyaluronic acid.

For me absolutely nothing beats proper good sleep! It always makes me feel better
A good night’s sleep is so underrated! I feel like a totally different person with and without sleep. That’s the same when I’ve done my skincare properly too.

So insightful and amazing. Thank you so much for sharing.
Sleep is what really helps me, I get mega emotional if I haven’t had enough sleep so it’s definitely a big wellness thing for me xx
Hi Amie,
A good night’s sleep is so valuable. Find what works for you in terms of sleep routines and then stick with it!
And being warm is vital, too. We recently had our boiler changed (yeah, great timing just as the cold weather arrives!) and went 2 days and nights with no heating and no running hot water. It makes you value the simple things! And puts even more value in a good hot chocolate 🙂
I just bought a Lumie sunrise alarm and I woke up with it this morning feeling so much better than waking up to my phone alarm! I love it already.

Love a good pamper session, but it’s something I’ve been neglecting lately. Definitely need to get back on track and treat myself! I got myself an electric blanket for bed recently, and it’s changed my life, cannot recommend it enough!
I love these ideas, my wellness is my number 1 priority right now but it’s craxy how quickly that slips down the list of things to do. I’m going to try to do some of these things in my daily routine a bit more

Great tips. Light therapy sounds like a great idea for this time of year x
Whenever I’m feeling a bit low and rubbish I always love to do a pamper session! It always makes me feel better after having a long bath and a face mask! X
I absolutely LOVE a good pamper session, if there’s one thing which perks me up it’s that. I feel like a good pamper sesh and doing skincare is something everyone should do. It really does make you feel 10/10! Thank you so much for sharing these tips, I’ll for sure be doing some of them myself Xo

I think these are fantastic ways to focus on wellness. The idea about having a pamper session and getting a good night’s rest is spot on. Never heard of a lumin light before. I should check it out.
This is a great post! I think winter is the perfect time for prioritising wellness 😊
Love this post, some really simple tips! My boyfriend bought me the Lumie alarm clock and a Lumie SAD light for my birthday earlier this week and I have to say I can already see a difference too

Plants are my thing! When I need breather I go for a walk around the garden with the dogs, and it instantly lifts me!
Great advice! I need to listen to this when it comes to getting a good nights sleep x
I definitely want to invest in a Lumie light at some point.
