Learning To Embrace Change

I’m not always the best at this to be honest, change has always been something negative in my life, but lately there have been trying to embrace it as much as possible and see it not as a negative change, but to put my life on the right path. Sometimes, when it comes to change it is literally just genuine fear. Fear of it going completely wrong, fear of what is to come, and before you know it I have conjured up about 200 problems that could come out of change.

It is amazing what your mind can do sometimes, and also completely painful.

The biggest part for me is the what if? What if this goes wrong, what if this happens, what if I fail, what if I lose everything and what if my sacrifice doesn’t pay off. There are genuinely so many what if’s when it comes to change.

Sometimes it is the fact that a change in a routine can be daunting, getting outside of your comfort zone is definitely something that I struggle with, everyone likes their comfort zone, but sometimes to get to where you need to be, you need to be pushed out of your comfort zone.

So how am I learning to embrace change? There are a few things that I am doing to at least be a little proactive and make changes a little easier to deal with.

Change My Point Of View

Not all change is bad, it doesn’t have to be a bad thing, it could be the best start to the next chapter of your life. I’ve been trying to stop thinking about what could go wrong, the bad what if’s and convincing myself that it is the end of the world if I make one change.

My brain is definitely my own worst enemy at times, it can literally convince you of anything, and there lies the problem. Overthinking is a pain in the backside, but it should never stop you from achieving what you want in life.

Stop Thinking Of Failure As A Bad Thing

It can be disappointing when you fail at something, when it doesn’t go the way that you would like it to, or you don’t get the result that you want, but in reality, failure is never a bad thing. When I have failed at something, it can be heart breaking, but it reminds me that I need to keep trying, I need to learn from my mistakes and grow from it.

Don’t Allow Fear To Get In Your Way

This one is definitely one of the harder ones for me because of my anxiety, everything always seems heightened, and it is like a massive weight when I’m fearful of the future and what is yet to come. I do have my coping mechanisms which really do help keep me calm and focused and it also reminds me to take every opportunity with both hands. I don’t want to have regrets, and I don’t want to look back in a few years and think of all the opportunities that I turned down because fear made me feel like I didn’t deserve it and that I wasn’t good enough.

What are you like with change? Do you deal with it very well, what are your tips and tricks for embracing change?

This is a lovely post. I’m currently at a stage of my life where I want to start something new but afraid because I’ve failed many times before and my mind doesn’t like me to forget about those times. As much as I’m scared of change I feel like I need to learn to embrace it and let go of the past to better my future. ♥
