2019 was the year that I completed my reading challenge, I only set the bar small, because I didn’t want to feel the overwhelming pressure to achieve it all straight away. However, I managed to read one more book than my challenge (win win right?) So I decided to do it again this year, I have set my reading challenge a little higher this year, only because I got a Kindle and I basically take it to work with me everyday. It is much easier than carrying my normal books around. So what will I be reading?
Reading is such an amazing outlet for me, it relaxes me and helps me to be more focused in my everyday life. Especially when work is so busy, having an hour on my lunch break to read my book is so bloody relaxing for me.
I’ve already managed to read 2 books this year and I always lean towards psychological thrillers, I like the way that they get me thinking, how fast paced they can be and how many twists and turns there can be in a book, but I also love historical fiction and so many other genres, but I automatically go for psychological thrillers.
I have 4 to be read books on my list that are physical books, and so many others on my Kindle as I decided to invest in Kindle Unlimited (basically my husband has had enough of falling over all of my books!)
The Favourite Sister
I picked this up just before Christmas and I loved the blurb on the back so much that I honestly couldn’t walk away without it.
Brett and Kelly Courtney are part of one of he most popular American TV shows Goal Diggers, and it is about 5 self-made women that are defined by their success and ruthless drive to reach the top. Their rivalry goes so deep, there is jealousy, dark secrets and with their latest series, sees sparks fly in the quest for the highest ratings.
One Of Us Is Lying
I’ve been reading this slowly, I’m only a couple of chapters in and I love it!
There are 5 students, Bronwyn, Cooper, Nate, Addy and Simon, all go to detention, but only 4 leave alive. Simon dies 24 hours before he could post all their deepest secrets online, but it is no accident, someone murdered him and the other 4 students are all suspects.
The Empty Nest
Kat and her daughter Amy were inseparable, as she grew up Amy never left Kat’s side, however, when she went to university several hours away, everything changed. Amy called her mum daily, however one day when she didn’t call, Kat got paranoid – she was reassured that Amy was just having fun. Hours turned into days, and then they get the confirmation that Amy is now missing, there are so many secrets that Kat doesn’t know about Amy, and she is closer to home than Kat ever imagined.
An American Marriage
I saw this book everywhere and I believe it was Alice from Alice Anne who eventually convinced me to get the book. I actually got this for my birthday and only found the book a few days ago under a mountain of presents. I’ve put this book in our car so I can read this while I’m travelling anywhere.
Celestial and Roy are newlyweds and are living the American dream. Roy is a young executive and Celestial is an artist. One day they are torn apart, as Roy is arrested and jailed for 12 years for a crime his wife knows he didn’t commit. Celestial takes comfort in Andre their closest friend, however when Roy’s conviction is overturned he is ready to return home to resume their life together – but can they do this?
Are there any books that are on your to be read list that you think I would love? Let me know in the comments!

One of us is lying is a great read honestly! A really big fan of reading challenges and this sounds amazing, they’re all great reads x
I’m a huge reader (mu job allows for a lot of Internet-free down time) and read 80+ books last year! I’m actually currently reading One of Us Is Lying too 🙂 For my favorite psychological thrillers, I’d recommend Gone Girl (yes, believe the hype), The Woman in Cabin 10 and The Ocean at the End of the Lane! x
