Five Books I’ve Read Lately

Reading has literally been something that has got me through a lot recently, and I thought that it was time to share what the best books to read are. I’ve really got back into my psychological thrillers and making the most of my down time. So what are my current book recommendations, and should you buy them right now?

Little Friends by Jane Shemilt

Eve Kershaw’s daughter Poppy is dyslexic, so she has taken a class so she can help her daughter and other children. Eve gives classes from her home, and gains 2 students Izzy and Blake, who come from 2 different families. The 3 families become friends, but the problem is, every couple is hiding a secret. A tragedy happens that has a massive impact on all 3 families, but the pretence of everything being okay changes when they realise not everything is as it seems.

If you are looking for a book that is dark, has twists and turns, and also keeps you guessing throughout, you will love this book.

The Push by Claire McGowan

I’ve read all of Claire McGowan’s books, she is one of my favourite authors, and this book didn’t disappoint. The book follow a group of women who met at a baby group at their local community centre. A party is held at Ed and Monica’s luxurious home, which ends with a murder. One of the guests falls from a high balcony and Detective Inspector Diana Mendes has been called to investigate the murder. There is a problem though, no one seems to know anything.

I really enjoyed this book, it was fast paced, interesting and I kept thinking I knew what happened, but there were lots of twists and turns.

The Wake by Vikki Patis

Can a death within the family bring them back together or will it tea them further apart? At the wake of Richard Asquith, his family come to say goodbye, his daughter Skye who hasn’t seen her father in years arrives, but wonders if she can ever forgive him. Lexi, Richard’s daughter in law hopes that all of her secrets have died with Richard, but can she keep her secret forever? Eleanor his mistress is heartbroken, but is her grief clouding her judgement.

This book honestly was incredible, and I could feel all the emotions of the characters, and the way it was written was just incredible.

Ruthless Women by Melanie Blake

The book follows the Falcon Bay TV show, and also the drama of the people who work on the show too. The drama begins when there is a change in network ownership , and that means that the show that they love is going to be changing too. There are a range of characters that you will like, not like and absolutely hate, but it gives an insight into the backstabbing and bitchy behind the scenes. Can the women save the show or will their mistrust between them destroy Falcon Bay?

I love the strong characters in this book, it is full of drama, well written characters and just an amazing read.

The Next Wife by Kaira Rouda

I absolutely loved this book and I haven’t finished a book so quickly in ages! This book follows Kate Nelson, she has it all an amazing husband, a successful company and a daughter, the ultimate dream. But then John leaves  her for another women half his age. Tish the new wife,  has it all , but she suspects John is being unfaithful, so she tries to make time for a romantic getaway to get John back, but Kate is one step ahead. There is nothing a person won’t do for love and revenge.

This book was incredible, and I’ve already made a list of more books I want buy from this writer!
