I’ve had the worlds largest to be read pile for so long, however, I’ve been slowly making my way through them lately (miracles do happen!) Anyway, I’m going to talk about the books that I’ve read or I’m currently reading that you may love and enjoy, there are a few psychological thrillers, a rom com book & more.
In terms of my Goodreads challenge, I managed to finish that in March I believe & I’ve doubled it ever since.
Queenie By Candice Carty-Williams
I finished this book in a couple of days in between work and home life, and honestly it is one of those must read books. The way it is written, you go on a rollercoaster of emotions, from funny, to sad, to rage, to uplifting, to hopeful and it is completely unique in every way. I honestly don’t believe I’ve ever read a book like it.
The book itself follows Queenie who is a 25-year old Jamaican British woman who is living in London. It documents her life and throughout the book you find yourself wanting to be best friends with her, trying to protect her and be there for her. It is an incredibly powerful book which has important messages throughout.
The Royal We by Heather Cocks & Jessica Morgan
I really enjoyed this book, I read it recently as I have a Kindle Unlimited subscription and as soon as I saw it on my recommended I downloaded it.
It follows Rebecca Porter as she comes over to study at Oxford, where she finds herself down the hall from Great Britain’s future king. You find yourself rooting for Bex and her happiness, and you begin to fall in love with the other characters like Bea, Cilla, Clive, Gaz and Joss.
In some parts you may feel like it mirrors the way that Meghan Markle felt and I guess that is one of the reasons I enjoyed it so much!
Daisy Jones & The Six By Tailor Jenkins Reid
This book took me slightly longer to get into, but as I immersed myself in the characters I genuinely couldn’t stop reading.
The book is based in the Sixties and Seventies and the book feels like it takes you back to the time when rock’n’roll was so popular, and you can imagine the Beatles wandering around. You get to know Daisy and her musical career, and of course The Six, but it also tells another important story. It covers substance abuse/addiction and abortion which is one of the reasons it makes the book so powerful. The other reason is how strong the characters, especially the women, they are probably some of the best written female characters I’ve read in a book for such a long time and as soon as you start to get to know the characters it makes it such an incredible book.
Where The Crawdads Sing By Delia Owens
When I finished this book I actually cried, it is such a powerful and strong book with an incredible message throughout.
Where The Crawdads Sing takes you back to the 1960s and follows Kya and her journey from a child into this strong, powerful and incredibly talented young lady. The book itself is so beautifully written that as it takes you through the marshes, and the town of Asheville, you feel like you can see it and that you’re almost with them. A theme throughout the book is the painful loneliness that people can feel and honestly it makes you feel for Kya and want to protect her as much as possible.
#No Filter By Maxine Morrey
I Initially thought I wasn’t going to enjoy this book, I’m not really sure why it was just a feeling because I thought it was going to be one of those books where influencers are just made out to get all of this free product for nothing and I really didn’t want that kind of story, so I was pleasantly surprised when I read it.
It follows Libby and looks at the problems with social media and it goes behind the social media curtain to reveal that not everything is perfect. Libby meets Charlie when she needs him the most with some accounting help and it follows their friendship, whether they will find love, and the obstacles that are always in the way when it comes to true love. The way the characters are so different and the way their friendship grows, it really shows that opposites attract.
The Other Girl by C.D.Major
This was one of my Amazon First Reads books for August, and I’m over half way and honestly the book is incredible. The book takes you back to 1942 New Zealand and follows a girl called Edith who has been in Seacliff Lunatic Asylum since she was 5 years old. However she survives a fire that destroys her ward and with the police asking questions and a young doctor begins to question the reasons she has been made to live in the asylum in the first place.
The book so far has been so gripping, the stories that Edith tells and the way she comes across, it is so gripping and you just want to protect her from everything going on within the asylum.
This book doesn’t come out until the 1st September, but it is an incredible book.

I’ve seen Daisy Jones & the Six everywhere but I’m still unsure if I’m going to like it…My TBR just keeps growing and I’m in a little slump so I hope that I can make my way through it soon too!
These sound like some great books. Queenie has been on my list to read for ages.
These are all new authors to me but they look like some great books! Thanks for sharing!
Queenie is one of my books of the year 🎉 Didn’t much care for Where the Crawdads Sing – thought it was over-rated and not my kinda style.
Queenie is such a good book!! I’ve been meaning to try Daisy Jones and the Six but heard mixed things about it. Might have to see if it’s in my local library! Amazing post, hun!
It is great that you have been spending some time reading! It is interesting to learn about how different author interprets a story during a point in time, whether it is in the 60s, or even in current times with handling social media! Thanks for sharing!

Ooh I have Queenie sitting on my Kindle waiting for me to read it. Definitely going to have to get to it soon.
I read Daisy Jones this year too, although I listened to it on audiobook (highly recommend – it’s like listening to a documentary!) It took me a little longer to get immersed in it as well but it’s a really great read!
Definitely gonna have to look into the others book you’ve mentioned!
I have Queenie on my TBR and I am really excited to get to it. The reviews I’ve seen for it are great and everyone seems to have enjoyed it as a really staple read. And the covers are gorgeous!!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on these! I’ve been putting off reading Daisy Jones and the Six and think I might put it off a little longer if it’s a slow burner, not in the right place for that right now. Can’t wait to see what you read next!
It sounds like you’ve had some great reads recently. I’ve heard nothing but incredible things about Daisy Jones & The Six and you’ve just made me want to read it even more. Definitely moving up my TBR pile x

Nice books although I haven’t read any. I’m hoping to read some books in my library soon. I’ve been too busy lately.
I have the first four on my TBR, so it was nice to hear your thoughts on each of them. I’ll have to look into the other two and see if they pique my interest! It’s always fun to find reading recommendations from other readers 🙂
I loved Daisy Jones & The Six, and I’ve got both Queenie and Where the Crawdads Sing on my TBR! I look forward to reading them!
I haven’ heard of any of these books, mainly because I usually read crime thrillers, but I like the sound of them. The last one sounds very intriguing, so I will definitely have to add that to me list to read.
Thanks for sharing Amie!

All books sounds awesome. Reading your review makes me wanna check them out. Thank you for sharing.
I absolutely LOVED Where The Crawdads Sing! That is hands down one of my favorite books now. I also tried to get into Daisy Jones and The Six, but unfortunately I just could not get into it as much as I tried to. I just ended up not finishing it and starting something else lol
I absolutely loved Queenie and started reading Daisy Jones and the Six Yesterday! I absolutely love the sound of The Royal We – I’m hoping to buy a kindle soon and that might be one of the first things I read on it! Thanks for sharing!
Tash // A Girl with a View
So many of these are on my current to be read list! I can’t wait to read Daisy Jones and the Six and Queenie! X
I’ve heard SO MUCH about Daisy Jones & The Six throughout the bookstagram community and I loved seeing it in your photo as well!! The book sounds AMAZING! And I want to get my hands on it and read it so bad!
I am rereading Paint it Black same author as White Oleander she is a super visual writer. I want to read here new books which are set in Russia. And Daisy Jones & The Six sounds so good. I feel like music today does not have the impact it did in the past in the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s. I feel like the last rock stars were Kirk Cobain and Marilyn Manson. Today it is all about social media where everyone is a star.

Queenie is definitely on my list, I’ve heard so many good things about it, same with Daisy Jones and the Six – everyone seems to be raving about it. The Other Girl sounds so interesting, I’ll have to check that out. I’ve finally just read “This is going to hurt” by Adam Kay and it was SUCH a strong read, loved it.
I have a book pile already waiting for me to read them, but after reading this review, I think I might have to add a couple more lol. I’ve haven’t read the Where The Crawdads Sing, but I’ve been looking for a good, emotional book, so I’ll have to check that out! 🙂
I love seeing what other people are reading to get inspiration! I’ve not read any of these so definitely so new books for me to consider for my reading list. I’ve just got The Midnight Library by Matt Haig and am super excited to read it! I’ve just finished My Dark Vanessa which was great but a bit chilling!
These sound like some really amazing books, thanks for sharing 🙂
Thank you for the book recommendations. I am need of a good book for my upcoming road trip. Where The Crawdads Sing and No Filter looks like they would be the ones I would start off with.
