9 Skincare Saviours For Combination & Spot Prone Skin

* Contains PR Samples

Over the last 6 months, I’ve really been working hard on taking care of my skin and also finding various products that work well on my skin. I struggle with combination and spot prone skin, so finding products that work well on my skin can be a challenge sometimes depending on how my skin is acting on the day. If you have combination skin, then I’ve got you covered with my favourite skincare products that have helped to take care of my skin.

Tropic Skincare Vitamin Toner*

I’ve been using this for around a year ad a half now, and honestly it is one of the greatest toners out there. I also have large pores, so this toner really helps to tighten my pores, feels incredibly refreshing on the skin and prepare my skin for a serum, and moisturiser. If you’re also looking for a little extra hydration, spray directly onto your face and let it soak into your skin, it works wonders. The best bit about this toner is it is one of the best multiuse products, you can use it over the top of your make up to set your face.

Ole Henriksen Pore-Balance Facial Sauna Scrub

I have been using this since April as I saw it on a list from Ethical Elephant, and I have literally fallen in love with this amazing scrub. The way it heats up on the skin, you can feel it getting into the pores and it isn’t harsh on the skin. That is the one thing I am always cautious about when it comes to using scrubs, and I’ve found that this scrub really doesn’t aggravate the dry parts on my skin. It is the perfect scrub, it’s not too harsh and it isn’t too mild.

Dermalogica Clear Start Foaming Wash*

This product is one of the latest releases from Dermalogica, and it is such a wonderful product. I’ve been using this morning and evening, I love the way it creates an amazing lather on the skin, and leaves my skin feeling clean and smooth without stripping your skin. If you’re like me and get a lot of excess oil on your T-zone or if you struggle with hormonal skin, then you will love this wash.

Tropic Skincare Pure Lagoon Serum*

This has been a holy grail for my skin ever since they launched it. I have gone through 2 bottles of this and love how it works on my skin. It has the most amazing scent, but not only that it works on my spot prone skin. I especially notice a difference when it comes to my hormonal breakouts, this serum really does keep my spots at bay, and reduces the redness of existing spots that I already have. It soaks into the skin really quickly and doesn’t leave a greasy residue. An absolute wonder product.

E.L.F Hello Hydration Face Cream

This is honestly one of the best budget friendly moisturisers ever, it leaves my skin feeling incredible and is especially good for combination skin. It sinks so quickly into the skin and it is quite a thick cream, but doesn’t leave a greasy residue, and leaves your face looking and feeling incredibly smooth and nourished. If you’re looking to find out more about E.L.F Skincare, I wrote a whole post dedicated to what they have to offer.

Ole Henriksen C-Rush Brightening Gel Creme

I bought this along with the sauna scrub and honestly it is incredible on the skin. It is a a gel cream, but it is so light on the skin and absorbs so quickly into the skin without your skin feeling looking or feeling greasy. If you’re looking for a moisturiser that will give your skin that beautiful glow from within look, then this is the moisturiser for you. A little of this product really does go a long way, even though it is slightly on the pricy side, you do not need a lot of it to get good coverage over the face and neck!

Biossance Squalane and Rose Vegan Lip Balm

I have so many different lip balms on my bedside cabinet, but this is one I have been reaching for more and more lately. It is such a silky lip balm, and with the colder months coming, I try my best to keep my lips as hydrated as possible. This lip balm also doesn’t leave your lips feeling sticky or tacky when you use it, and it also has the most pleasant scent of roses, but not too overpowering. The lip balm is slightly pricy at £16, but a little goes such a long way and you do get a lot of product for your money.

Antipodes Kiwi Seed Gold Luminous Eye Cream*

I got sent this at the start of lockdown and honestly it has made such a difference. I get quite a lot of dark circles under my eyes and I’ve noticed such a difference, it not only brightens the eye area, but it is so soothing too. It is so light on the eyes and absorbs quickly, leaving your eyes feeling incredibly hydrated without leaving your eyes feeling heavy. greasy or sticky. Overall it is one of those godsends, especially if you’re looking for an amazing eye cream.

Dermalogica Redness Relief Essence*

The final product that has been an absolute saviour is the redness relief essence. I get a lot of redness around my nose, and I’ve been using this for around a year and notice such a difference. My skin is soothed, calmer, and if there I have spots on my face, it calms the redness around them. You don’t need a lot of this product, it goes such a long way on a reusable cotton pad, but it has the most calming effect on your skin.

These have been my skincare saviours over the last 6 months, and I would definitely recommend them to anyone who is looking for new skincare to add to their collection.

  • I’ve not tried any of these brands before but I think I’m going to check out the lip balm you mentioned. I can get really dry lips and have sensitive skin anyway so might be worth checking it out for me, especially if you get a lot for your money. Thank you for sharing! x

  • I like the sound of the ELF moisturiser – I hate the ones that leave a greasy residue. It sounds like Tropic skincare is also amazing – I might have to try some stuff out as I always suffer with my skin too!

If there’s anything I need right now, it’s all of these! I have been blighted by mask acne and have a doozy of a spot on my chin! It’s the nastiest one I’ve ever gotten and I’m wanting to be gentle yet stern with it! I have to try a couple of these to see if they help out!

These all sound amazing, although I have never used any of them. I might just have to give them a try, wearing the face masks all day is causing a bit of havoc with my skin and the homemade stuff just isn’t working as I want them to!

I’ve kinda always prided myself on having tried many (or most) of the products for combo/acne-prone skin .. yet, I haven’t tried a single one of these! Oh my! I need to test them all out and see how they’d work for my own skin. I’m dreadfully curious now. Thank you for sharing your suggestions!

  • Emma Gordon says:

I’ve never tried any of these products but I’ve heard of quite a few of them. I’m always hesitant to buy new products in case they’re no good and they can be expensive. I’ve been thinking about a foam wash for a while so will definitely be looking into the dermalogica one. Also the Ole Henriksen always comes up too. Great to have some reviews of them first!

  • Thanks for sharing, these look great products 🙂
