70 Self Care Ideas To Help Your Mental Health

It’s getting to that time of year again where the days are shorter and the nights are longer, and it is also the time of year that my mental health can start to deteriorate. But there are so many ideas out there on what you can do for your mental health, here are my top favourites, and also how you can implement them into your life.

01. Make a relaxing playlist

02. Declutter your space

03. Listen to a podcast

04. Spend alone time to clear your head

05. Take a nap on some fresh bedding

06. Write a gratitude journal

07. Take a break from social media

08. Unfollow accounts that trigger you or make you unhappy

09. Allow yourself to feel your emotions

10. Practice yoga or some light stretches

11. Write down your thoughts and feelings

12. Celebrate your small victories

13. Reach out to people you love if you’re struggling

14. Drink enough water

15. Drink a cup of tea

16. Make a vision board of what you want to achieve

17. Practice saying no to people

18. Let go of the guilt if you cancel plans

19. Get outside and enjoy nature

20. Cook your favourite foods

21. Remind yourself it is okay to rest

Now these sound incredibly simple, however they’re all important steps when it comes to looking after yourself. Make yourself a priority and never feel guilty about it.

    I find decluttering SO helpful when I’m feeling really stressed out! It somehow lifts a huge weight off my shoulders when I chuck lots of items that had just been gathering dust for years (or donating it to a better home). Reflecting on good things is super handy, too. Thanks so much for all of these ideas!

    These are great tips, Amie! I think winter/darker mornings and nights are going to be harder this year, with everything that is going on. I much prefer the spring and summer months because of the longer daylight we get. I think I would always go for the pamper option to help, like getting a bath, doing a face mask and lighting a few candles. Also settling down with a good book or Netflix show to take my mind off things.

    omg, yes to all of this. I have this chill playlist with no words, and it just really helps me unwind. It’s actually what I’m currently listening to !     I love this! For me, definitely having a space to declutter is really important and having my area around me sorted because that makes me feel in control of things. At other times, it’s making the point of self care which is the needed thing. I’m not great at really focusing on myself though so I love the ideas you’ve highlighted here as different things to try.
