How I’ve Found My Happy Place And 9 Tips To Find Yours

It is safe to stay that this year has not been kind, but in the midst of all the struggles, it has opened up so many positives lately and I feel like I have found my happy place & I feel content with my life.

I feel like for so many, 2020 has basically been a massive shit sandwich, which has had layers piled on top throughout the year, but here are 10 tips on how I’ve found my happy place, in the midst of my multi-layered shit sandwich.

01. Positive Thinking/Manifestation

I’m definitely the kind of person that believes in positive thinking and manifestation. I feel like it can really help and it isn’t a quick fix, especially when it comes to my mental health, but this is something that Rhianna introduced me to, and honestly ever since then, I feel like I’ve been able to change the way that I view things, it has changed the way that I look at life. It has genuinely taken time for me to get to grips with everything but it really has helped me so much.

02. Reconnecting With Old Friends

I recently reconnected with one of my best friends, I feel like everything is slowly falling back into place. I’ve spoken previously about adult friendships and why they change as you get older but I’m a firm believer in sometimes you drift apart to come back together. In this case I genuinely believe that we can get to a stronger place, and that is an amazing feeling.

03. Social Media

You will have seen my social media at the end of July where my husband actually went missing (he is okay & safe at home with me) but I honestly never realised how powerful social media could be, and how supported I felt in a situation that was genuinely heart breaking. The way people actually came together, sharing the posts, and been so supportive, has been amazing, and I can never express my gratitude for that.

04. Regular Workouts

Workouts have honestly been my escape, even after a long date I’ve been making sure I cycle, because it really helps my mental health and overall health. I’ve found something that I enjoy, it is either running, cycling or yoga, and it is time for me to switch off and start working on me.

05. Surround Myself With Positivity

I’m so grateful to be surrounded with incredible people, and I’ve got some of the best people around me, and I work with the best people who honestly inspire me every single day, even though everything is literally through Teams, you feel like you’re supported and everyone is incredible.

06. Cut Out Negativity

I have 0 time for negativity in my life, I don’t need it and let’s be honest, life is way too short to have so much negativity in your life. It may be a person, it may be a situation, but find a way to cut that out of your life. You honestly do not need it & if this year has taught me anything, especially during lockdown, it is important to focus on the people that matter.

07. Find Your Joy

I’ve found so much joy in multiple things lately, especially Instagram and finding new places in my local area to go walking. With the weather being so nice (well up until this wind and rain came) it gave me so many opportunities to find some gorgeous places, and just get outside. It definitely helped my mental health.

08. Find A Balance Between Work & Home

At the moment a lot of us are still working from home, and the line between work and home is blurred at the moment. However, I feel like especially in my new job I’ve found a healthy balance between work and home, I’m able to switch off at the end of  the day knowing I’ve done a good job & achieved everything I wanted to.

09. Be Grateful For Everything

Even through the most difficult times, I’m definitely grateful for everything that journey taught me. It made me appreciate the people around me and gave me new challenges to overcome. It can be hard at first when the rug is pulled out from underneath your feet, but it can teach you so much.

These are my top tips on how I found my happy place & how you can too! Do you have any tips for others? Let me know in the comments!

Yes to all of this advice!! I’ve found it very hard trying to get myself in a positive headspace recently and manifest good into my life, but things are changing for me soon so I think that’s why I’m feeling anxious. I always try to find the joy in small ways though and seek positivity on social media. I’ve had a total detox from negative people in my life within the past year and tried to surround my online space with those who inspire me instead.

These are really great tips Amie, and it is so good to see that you have found your happy place. I like that you take a positive from everything and be grateful for what has happened, whether this is good or bad. I deffo believe in things happening for a reason. Also so good to have a balance in life, sometimes that balance tips a little, but it will all come back together.

These are all such great tips for finding happiness. I totally agree cutting out negativity is important as well as regular workouts. I always feel so much better when I can work our regularly

  • I always try and look for a positive in every situation! No matter how small. It was really nice reading that you’ve found your happy place and that you also try and find the positive in everything. 2020 has not been the best year but it’s made me realise how important my boyfriend is, my family and friends are as well (and every moment that I’ve shared with all of them). I’m grateful that I have a job that I can do working from home (saving money on fuel yay and have more time to enjoy my “me time” – work life balance is very important), and that I am just incredibly lucky with the people in my life. Cutting out the negatives in life is so important, as really life should be enjoyed, and not worrying about things that can be avoided. This was a really fantastic post, really enjoyed reading it so thank you for sharing x

  • These are amazing things to focus on. I’ve definitely found my happy place in life at the moment – although it’s not constant of course – and manifestation and gratitude play a huge part in that.

  • Faye says:

These are all amazing points! I’ve found regular exercise to be so beneficial especially now. I’ve been doing regular walks around my local area and it’s been so lovely to just get a breath of fresh air every day and have that little time to relax away from everything

  • Hayley says:

This is such a great list Amie, thank you so much for sharing your tips for finding your happy place. I have to agree – despite all that 2020 has thrown at us, I’ve never felt more content with my life and I think a lot of that comes down to some of the reasons you’ve highlighted here. Manifesting and setting boundaries/cutting toxicity out of my life are the big ones for me.

Glad to hear that your husband is safe and well! That must have been truly frightening for you, I can’t even begin to imagine.

These are valuable tips! Life has been pretty tough lately and we gotta do some things on our own to not get dragged by the negativity of life. Thanks for this!

  • Lindsey says:

It’s fantastic to hear that you’re managing to find a balance between work and homelife at the moment. Even after all this time working from home, I’m still struggling with some of that. It’s also really nice to hear about the positive side of social media (not for the situation, but you know what I mean!). I definitely need to get better at fitting in workouts but hoping to change that up shortly. Great post!
