4 Best Books To Buy Today

Finding new books to read can be overwhelming, mainly because there are so many! However I’ve read 4 books lately that are great books to read, and keep you wanting to read more and more. I’m always so inspired to read when I read new book posts, so I hope you love this post, just as much as I love writing them. If you’re looking for new books to read, then grab a cuppa and find out about these wonderful books.

The Accident by C.L. Taylor

I’ve spoken previously about my love of C.L. Taylors books, and this one was no exception.

This book follows Sue Jackson who on the outside has the most perfect family, until her teenage daughter Charlotte deliberately steps in front of a bus and ends up in a coma. Sue tries to find answers to why Charlotte would do this by retracing her steps, and reading her diary. She begins to mistrust everyone close to her daughter, and also has to deal with secrets that are buried in her own past.

The book is told from Sue’s point of view, and takes you through her past and her present, and makes it easy to follow. If you’re looking for a fast paced psychological thriller, this could be a new one for you!

The Tutor by Daniel Hurst

Amy is a loving wife and mother, and her son Michael is at risk of failing his end of school exams. Amy enlists the help of a professional tutor hoping it is the best thing for her son. However, there is more to this tutor than she realises, but it is too late. Her family love the new tutor. The tutor becomes more involved in Amy’s family, the secrets from the past, including a fire at the school the children currently attend are threatened to be exposed.

This book is a bit slower than The Accident, however there are some positives to this. This book has shorter chapters, with multiple different points of view, and you are able to get to know the characters and understand the points of view of each character.

Choose Me by Tess Gerritsen and Gary Braver

The book follows the death of Taryn Moore. Taryn was young, intelligent and beautiful so Detective Frankie Loomis arrives to investigate why Taryn would jump from her apartment balcony, especially because the autopsy showed that Taryn was pregnant at the time she jumped. Jack Dorian, Taryn’s professor, feels neglected by his wife, and becomes obsessed with Taryn, and conducts and affair with her.

I found this book to be incredibly fast paced, with a lot of twists and turns, and not only that, is a story of marriage, betrayal, and the damage we can do to others when we are in love.

Her Last Breath by Hilary Davidson

The final book on the list is from Hilary Davidson. I finished this book recently, and honestly it took me a bit of a while to get into. Deirdre is heartbroken when her sister Caroline dies suddenly. Deirdre receive a message from Caroline days earlier saying her death out be no accident. Caroline claimed in her message that Theo, her husband had killed his first wife and got away with it. The book follows Deidre’s search into the disturbing secrets that Caroline hid, as well as her husband Theo.

I found this book was a little slower than normal, however it really did hook me when it continues to open up about each family member.

  • I’m not a huge reader. Like you say in the into, I feel like it can be quite overwhelming knowing what book to go for or trusting that you’re going to get a good one. I really like the sound of the CL.Taylor book, although I’m sure it’s quite dark in places it sounds like it’d be a really interesting read.
