I have a very unhealthy relationship with my phone, I admit it. Whether I am scrolling through social media, liking tweets, retweeting pictures of cats or playing the Hogwarts Mystery game (fyi how amazing is it?! If you haven’t played it yet, download it.) I am pretty sure that I couldn’t live without my phone, my life revolves around it, from blogging, to friends and family it is a necessary item in my day to day life. There is a reason for the caption, I am that friend that would sit there on my phone during catch ups. I’m awful.
I feel like my phone is my comfort blanket especially in social situations, I get anxious and I think by being on my phone even though it is quite rude it is literally my coping mechanism.
My husband always makes fun of me because of the amount of phones I’ve had over the years, whether it was my Siemens phone or even the Sony Walkman phones that everyone had and sending songs via Bluetooth that took about half an hour to send and end up playing almost as you’re walking into lesson. I was also always that person that would forget to lock my phone and end up pocket dialling someone.
Anyway I have kinda gone off on a tangent now.
Now I do pretty much everything on my phone, I really do. It has allowed me to meet new people including making life long friendships in the blogging community, grow a successful social media following, snap photos with my family and have little memories.
But even though it does all these lovely things it really does take time away from me.
Have you ever started scrolling through social media and then 3 hours later you’re still scrolling through and wonder where the time has gone? Yep that is me. Or you’re trying to fall asleep at night and you think oh I’ll just catch up on social media, or I’ll play a game, and you never fall asleep.
I cannot count the amount of hours I’ve lost just being on my phone, I have such an unhealthy relationship with my phone.
If I’m not on it, I’m wondering where it is – or maybe that is because I’m such a plonker sometimes I put it down and forget where I’ve left it.
So how am I going to break up with my phone? I mean besides losing it down a rabbit hole and pulling a whole Alice in Wonderland stunt?
Take more time away, be more productive, even if it does mean taking a break from Hogwarts Mystery, as much as I love it, I feel like we need some time out.
I think after a certain time maybe 9 because I do like to do some blog chats in the evening, I’m going to be putting my phone down, chilling out and just living in the moment. I know that I’ll probably end up relaxing and falling asleep quicker at night if I don’t have my phone on hand 24/7.
There is more to my life outside of my phone.
A quick apology to my friends, husband and family, if I’m on my phone during our times together, I do love you all. Honest.
Do you relate? Let me know in the comments?

Yeah I totally relate I have such problems with my phone, but I also see it as a benefit as I would love to do social media for a job

I know what you mean, I think sometimes you need to find some balance though because you don’t want to live your life through your phone 24/7! xxxx
I’ve definitely been the same way, but lately, I’ve found so much peace and solace in leaving my phone in my room when I’m in other parts of the house, or leaving it at home while I run an errand. I even feel a little more comforted when my phone dies which is something I never thought I’d enjoy! It leaves me feeling kind of calm to be so disconnected sometimes.
I’m definitely learning to do that more. I get anxious when my phone dies because I think someone is going to ring me with an emergency and I won’t be able to answer! xxxx
I can relate deffo. Especially the coping mechanism for socially awkward situations. I tend to just grab my phone and look busy 😂😥 x
Me too! I’m so awkward it hurts sometimes! xxxxx
I can relate to this blog post so much. Whenever I’m feeling low my phone is glued to me and then I end up doing nothing. Love this idea of losing it babe. 🌸✨

I’m the same, I feel like it is a comfort blanket and it makes me feel like I’m doing something but in reality I’m not! xxxx
I totally agree with you, I do too. Although my phone is vital for my blogging, social media etc – which I always think is a positive thing – I also need to put it down once in a while and actually focus on other things. I need to remember that life is going on around me as well, not just on my phone.
I think there definitely need to be balance because at the end of the day a phone is good but you also need time away too! It’s all about balance! xxxx
I definitely relate with the anxiety thing, whenever I get anxious I just whip my phone out and scroll through Twitter. I also have an unhealthy relationship with my phone, so hoping to break loose soon.

Small steps in the right direction my lovely, that is what I’m doing to break free from my phone! xxxx
I am totally with you. My boyfriend and I are terrible for being on our phones and not being present enough. I downloaded an app called Moment that tracks how long you’re on your phone and it’s truly staggering! Hours and hours and hours spent scrolling instead of truly living. Highly recommend the app. xx
Sincerely, Sarah xx

Oooh that app sounds perfect for me! I’m definitely going to try that! Thank you angel! xxxx
I’m constantly on my phone, I need to be while blogging full time but it is good to have breaks x

Taking breaks is definitely important, there has to be some balance! xxxx
I can relate so much. It’s actually my boyfriend who says to me to put it down and see what’s going on around me. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not solely on social media, I’m mostly taking photos etc but he always reminds me to live in the moment and be here rather than behind my phone!
Living in the moment is so important, social media will always be there to come back to & as for taking photos, I’m totally with you there! xxxx
Ah yes, I can totally relate to the moments when you think you’ll go on for a quick break and it turns into way longer. It’s so frustrating >_< Something that has helped me immensely with this (but also basically all other areas of my life) is time tracking. I got this app where I can just tap a button when I start on a task, and it basically tracks how I spend my entire day. So now it's harder to waste time on my phone because I know the clock is ticking and there's more of a sense of accountability, ya know? I wrote about the app and how I use it a little bit on my blog if you are interested 🙂 Beatrice | The Bliss Bean
I know what you mean! Times goes so quickly it is important to not spend all of the time on your phone! Oooh I think the app will really help me to be fair, as I need to be accountable for all the time I’m scrolling through my phone and social media! xxx
Phones do so much now and since I started blogging I definitely notice that I’m using it so much more.
Definitely feel like it’s unhealthy to an extent too.

I know, gone are the days where it took us forever to load a webpage and we could just text and listen to music on our Sony Walkmans! xxxx
I have moments when I am on my phone alot, but I feel like I have a good balance. When I am with my boyfriend or friends and family I tend to put my phone away.
I think I just need boundaries with my phone, I’m awful at not giving myself boundaries! xxxx
I’m addicted to my phone without a doubt, but having a partner who doesn’t like social media has helped because he gets annoyed if I’m on it too much! x
Paul is the same and doesn’t like or use social media too much, but it helps to keep you aware of how long you spend on social media! xxx
I’m the exact same & I really need to take time out.
It’s so important to take time away, I think social media and being on your phone all the time can be so overwhelming! xxxx
Don’t feel bad hun …most of us are the same in all honesty x
I know what you mean, everyone seems to be in the same boat as me to be fair, makes me feel like I’m not alone! xxxx
I think we ALL relate to this. Our phones are so addictive and I think everyone is guilty of giving that more attention than our loved ones. I think putting your phone down at 9pm is a brilliant idea! xo

I’m always on my phone, I mean what the hell, I need to stop being on my phone so much! xxxx
