40 Things To Stop Taking For Granted

If there is one thing the pandemic has taught us it is not to take the small things for granted. It is things like what we plan to do at the weekend, the joy of just going out for a cup of coffee. The last year has really put life into perspective, what is important, who is important and where we really want to go in our lives.

Lockdown 3 has definitely been a lot harder than the others, and sometimes finding the positives during lockdown can be so tough, we know people who have lost their battle to coronavirus and we are separated from the people we love, but we will be together again soon. This year, there are lots of things that I’m going to stop taking for granted will you?

What To Stop Taking For Granted:

  1. Spending time with family and friends
  2. Going to a coffee shop
  3. Road trips and singing bad songs in the car
  4. Hugs with loved ones
  5. A new day
  6. Good books (read what I’ve been reading lately)
  7. Going shopping and trying on clothes
  8. Going on holiday and making memories
  9. Waiting in a queue for food shopping

  12. Smiling at others
  13. A good nights sleep
  14. A fridge full of food
  15. Your health, especially during this difficult time, where we are losing people we love, our health is important

  27. The future and all of the wonderful things that are coming
  28. The past and the life lessons that I have learned throughout
  29. Finding new passions in your life
  30. Going to sleep at night without worrying about tomorrow
  31. The commute to and from work
  32. Going into small shops in my local area to support them
  33. The smell after it has rained
  34. Your time, and making the most of each moment that we walk this earth
  35. Your energy and making sure that you cut people out who drain your positivity
  36. Advice from loved ones – my grandad has the best advice
  37. Good music to pick me up when I’m having a bad day
  38. Meditating and finding my inner peace
  39. Working out and enjoy the fresh air
  40. Support from others

The way that this year has gone, it has been so hard, we have all been doing everything we can to do protect our loved ones, keep our distance, and hopefully there is a light at the end of the tunnel. If you need support and you’re struggling, please contact these helplines.

Wow! This is absolutely beautiful and such a phenomenal reminder. I think the past year has really given a lot of us a new perspective on the things we’ve often taken for granted. I, for one, definitely miss coffee shops like crazy and getting to travel to see my in-laws as well! Those are things I never even realized I was taking for granted until they were removed from my life. Thank you for this reminder to really appreciate everything: big and small!
