Over the last I want to say 3 – 4 months I’ve definitely had a wake up call. There has been so much going on in my personal life that I’ve genuinely stopped wasting my time on certain things. I’ve realised that life is definitely way too short to waste my time on energy on certain matters and not only that there are certain things I just genuinely don’t have time for.
At the moment I barely have time to make sure that I get a decent nights sleep let alone anything else. I have come to realise why my Grandad always says your time and energy is so precious, and he is right (but don’t always tell him that!) because what is the point in wasting your time on things that not worth your time?
I’m wanting to surround myself with people who are genuine, who are just the most amazing people and not only that being mindful of the time that I waste on people that genuinely don’t bring me joy.
I’m a worrier if I’m totally honest, it is the way my body is programmed, even if someone says oh you have nothing to worry about, I am pretty sure that I will find the tiniest detail known to man and I get my self all tangled up in my own web of emotions.
I’ve talked a lot lately about my anxiety, what I’ve been feeling and if I’m totally honest it made me feel so much better writing that entire post. If you fancy a read you can check it out here. It is basically an emotional rant about how I’m feeling and if I’m honest it really did open my eyes to what I need to do to get myself into a better place.
In life so many people come into your life, they leave your life, you make mistakes and life goes on. People will hurt you, they will let you down, they will disappoint you, and they are the people that are not worth it in your life. Let’s be honest the last thing we all need when time is so damn precious is someone who literally drains you, who takes you for granted and someone who genuinely doesn’t see how much you’re there for them.
I’ve said it before, being selfish isn’t always a bad thing, sometimes you have to have a moment where you accept what happens, have a bit of a reflect over everything and pick up your bag and move on. There is no point in sitting around watching life pass you by when you could be moving forward and living your best damn life.
I’m going to stop letting people put so much negativity into my life, I’m going to start putting myself first and above all doing what is right for me. Life isn’t about carrying around excess negativity, life is too short, fill your life with happiness and surround yourself with people who genuinely bring so much light into your life.

I found this most relatable, I feel like I have been having a similar experience over the last couple of months. I am very proud of you, thank you for sharing.

Your Grandad is absolutely right, time is absolutely precious! I’m glad you are going to start putting yourself first, I’m always putting others first but sometimes you just need to be a little selfish and focus on yourself for a change! xx

This post is completely true. I definitely get caught up a lot in things that don’t really matter and are out of my control and it only just leads to stress! Everyone needs to be selfish sometimes and do things that make them happy! X
We honestly need all the energy we can get to be the person we want to be, Letting outside factors drain us of any of this is so negative.
This is a great post, thank you for sharing so honestly.
Onwards and upwards x x
Yes to this! Focusing on yourself is not selfish and it’s important to make the most of things that do matter and move on from the annoying stuff. Good to see you’re focusing on the positives x

Being a bit more selfish with your time can be really important! It’s great to occupy your time with things/people that actually matter x

I hear you girl ✨ Let’s make life the best we can possibly make it for ourselves!!!
Grandad’s give the best advice sometimes don’t they? For me personally, it’s my Dad who gives me the advice rather than my Gramps but your Grandad sounds so fab! I love that you are going to stop wasting time on unwanted people and things in your life and focus more on the positives. 💜

I have recently been feeling like you. Life is far too precious and you have to savour time. That’s why I have decided to cut negative people out of my life, if you don’t support me/love me or bring positivity I am not wasting my time. I hope you continue this way of thinking, I definitely think when you get to a certain age you realise you don’t have to put up with or take negativity from people. Lovely post! Thank you for sharing x
Preach! God I wish I was better at remembering this. But every time I read it, it helps a little bit, so thank you for sharing this. And, major congrats on taking action on it in your own life – I hope it pays off x
This is such an important topic, and so so true! Very well said, I love the photos, your outfit is gorgeous! The blog looks amazing, too lovely. I’ve just had breakfast, but I’m starving again looking at some of the photos, lol!
Have a lovely Sunday xo
I need to get better at doing this, but I’m so bad at knowing when to cut off x
This post is so inspiring and almost like a wake up call to me! I carry around so much of this stuff and I do not need to!

I would say I’ve definitely gotten better at this but I’ve definitely still got a long way to go … sometimes it’s just nice to know that you’re not the only person who feels this way! X
This is so true xx
I’m a total worrier too. Even more so now with anxiety as well! And being caught up in things that don’t even matter to you only makes it worse!
A massive hug to you, sweetie! I totally relate what it’s like choosing to look at what is more important in life. Just like you my anxiety really gets in the way of things and prevents me from living the life I want but this post is definitely pushing me to try harder! Hope you’re okay, lovely! <3

I’m a born worrier too, even if I don’t let on to others just how much I am worrying. Your Granddad is so right though, our time and energy is the most precious thing we have and can never get back once spent on something or someone. 🙂

I’m definitely a worrier, I’m trying to work on it but it isn’t easy! Cute photo x
Guard your energy, girl! Those bad vibes from others will bring you down. It’s time to take care of you! ♥️
I’m totally the same with worrying – I’m always ruminating over something! Glad you’re taking some time out and focusing on yourself, it makes such a difference 💕
This is very true, Amie. There are lots of genuinely good people out there who will have our best interests at heart, in the same way we do theirs. But there are also plenty who are miserable and want company in that misery. They will quite literally drain the life out of you and leave you feeling empty inside.
Our families are perfect examples. Sometimes they are toxic. We didn’t choose them but we can choose the rest of the folks we allow to have access to us in our lives. Toxic is toxic and it’s okay to let that go! Bravo for being brave enough to invest your heart and energy into those who deserve your friendship. ♥
Your Grandad is so right – time is too precious to waste it on things/ people that don’t bring you joy. I’ve recently noticed that a lot of people I’m close carry such negative energy and actually drain me, rather than build me up so I’ve been slowly cutting them out of my life. It’s working out for the better too – I’m so much happier since surrounding myself with like-minded people, instead!
This is so true, life is too short to be wasting time and energy on things and/or people that don’t give you anything back!
Totally agree – and sometimes being selfish IS the self-care. Negative people can really bring us down, and sometimes we have to let them go.
