6 Programmes You Need To Watch On Disney+

Disney+ has honestly been such an escape for me during the lockdown, but they have added so many amazing shows. Being able to watch a few TV shows after work, chill out and relax with a cup of coffee is one of the best things in the world. There are 6 shows that need to be added to your must watch list today and you will be hooked from the first moment.

01. Revenge

I watched this originally when it first came out on E4, and honestly it is one of the best shows ever. The story itself follows Amanda Clarke who is seeking revenge on the people who set up her father and destroyed her family. Her father David Clarke was set up for the downing of Flight 197, a crime he didn’t commit, and she is determined to get justice for her father. Emily VanCamp is such an amazing actress, and if you love Gossip Girl, you will also notice a familiar face in there too!

02. Ugly Betty

When I saw that this show was now on Disney+ I jumped for joy. Ugly Betty has such an incredible following because it was something that was completely different to what was on TV at the time. Better is a hard working girl who  is struggling to make her mark in the publishing world, because she doesn’t meet the conventional standards of beauty. I feel like this show really does speak to me even today, because beauty comes in all forms, and let’s be honest, Betty is absolutely stunning!

03. Grey’s Anatomy

We all know how much I love Grey’s Anatomy, I’ve talked about it on a regular basis, but now that it is on Disney+ I can literally binge watch it to my hearts content. The show itself follows the surgical interns and the other doctors at the hospital. The main character Meredith Grey is the daughter of a famous surgeon, and it follows her journey to becoming a surgeon and stepping out of her mother’s shadow. It also has such an incredible cast including Sandra Oh, Patrick Dempsey and Katherine Heigl.

04. WandaVision

This show has literally taken over the world, it has become so popular and people have so many thoughts about the show. The show follows Wander and Vision living in the suburbs, they have super powers, but they feel like not everything is as it seems. The series also takes place after Avengers Endgame, so if you are a massive Marvel fan, then you will absolutely enjoy this.

05. Scandal

I’ve watched this series for so long now, and it was originally on Amazon Prime I believe, but now it is on Disney+ it makes me even happier. The series itself follows Olivia Pope who was a former media consultant for the President of the United States. They also had an affair with each other, but she also realises that the people she has working for her are also hiding secrets. Scandal is also another creation on Shonda Rhimes who created Grey’s Anatomy so if you love Grey’s, you will most likely love this!

06. Buffy The Vampire Slayer

The series follows Buffy Summers who is destined to slay dark forces in the world. They show follows Buffy as she tries to live a normal life through school, but also embrace her destiny of slaying dark forces in the world. Buffy was  the first series that I really loved as a teen, so being able  to go back and rewatch it literally makes me feel like a kid again!

Disney + has so many old throwback movies – I love to watch one when I am having a low energy day. I will definitely check a few of these out, as I haven’t seen them yet. 🙂

I didn’t know scandal was by shonda rhymes too! Now I have to watch it haha! I’ve been binging Wanda like everyone and am so obsessed with it! I watched ugly Betty a few years ago and I thought it was such a good show, just so different from anything else I’d really seen before

  • Love this! Even though I don’t have Disney Plus there are so many great series here that I’ve already seen but would love to watch again. Revenge and Greys Anatomy are always firm favourites of mine for sure!

  • OMG a fellow Grey’s fan – I cant wait to chat about it all with you. I’m currently on Season 14 and it’s my first go through it all. I have to say, the older seasons are better. I loved the whole Mer Der love story. I also love Alex, what a great character!

Disney+ is fast becoming my favourite platform, especially with Star now. I adore Greys Anatomy, I am working on a ‘best grey’s episode’ blog post but of course it needs some serious research. Which I am of course really enjoying.

I really fancy Wanda Vision as well. Some brilliant choices here x

  • Wow……some of these programs are quite classic and nostalgic. Buffy The Vampire Slayer was famous on Malaysian television during the early millennium. Enjoy your binge-watching.

  • I really need to try Buffy, it sounds like my kind of programme and my friend is always trying to get me to try it! Thank you for these recommendations x

  • Kristin says:

The first few seasons of Scandal are incredible!! I also remember really enjoying Revenge.

Apart from Buffy, these are all shows that I’ve heard of and never actually watched due to missing them when they were originally airing. I’m excited to see the new offerings from Disney+ and looks like this has given me a great place to start.

I’m definitely thinking about about starting Grey’s Anatomy, especially as it’s such a popular show and there’s so many seasons to enjoy. Great post!

  • Heidi says:

Oh my gosh, I love Revenge, Ugly Betty, and Grey’s Anatomy (seasons 1-6). My husband watches Wanda Vision and my mom watches Scandal, lol. I think Buffy is the only one I haven’t seen, which is strange because it was so popular when I was a teen and our French exchange student was obsessed with it. I think I would enjoy it, that genre just didn’t appeal to me back then. I have definitely expanded my preferences since then, haha. Great list!

  • Stephanie says:

Okay, so I’m guessing that just like most streaming services, Disney+ has a different catalog for those in Europe vs. the US, because we don’t have any of these except for WandaVision on Disney+ here! Isn’t that nuts?

  • Kelly Diane says:

I used to love watching Ugly Betty. These sound like some great suggestions and its making me want to get Disney+ even more now.

  • Thanks for sharing, I’m watching Wandavision at the moment it’s great 🙂
