6 Amazing Things – Winter, Anniversaries & Open Fires

1 week until Christmas Eve! I’m ridiculously excited, it’s literally the season for good food, spending time with the people you love and it’s just a magical time of year, and I genuinely can’t get enough of it! So it’s been an absolutely lovely couple of weeks, lots of loving things have happened, I’ve been getting into the festive spirit and yes I’ve got Christmas songs to wake us up in the morning, I know I’m kinda sad but I love Christmas so much! So what lovely things have been happening over the last few weeks?

1. Our Wedding Anniversary

If you saw my post the other day, it was literally all about our wedding anniversary, we had a night away and it was probably one of the best nights away – there will be a full post on Wednesday so do keep your eyes open for that! We chilled out, got super cosy and it was genuinely a lovely time.

2. Open Fires

While we were away there were literally so many open fires around our hotel, it made us feel so cosy! I mean there’s nothing better than being in right next to an open fire when it’s literally freezing outside! I am pretty sure that I could have set up camp there and never moved, I was so comfy there!

3. Seeing My Grandparents

I speak about my grandparents a lot, they’re 2 of the most amazing people I know and not only that they have the best stories ever. Especially when they talk about my Dad when he was a kid, they always make me laugh! We took their presents down, spent some time with them and it’s just makes me smile. Also my Nan makes an amazing cup of tea!

4. Snow

While we were on our way home from my grandparents, it actually started snowing, I mean Winter is just around the corner, it’s super cold and I’m enjoying bundling up in lots of layers to keep me warm! We only had a sprinkling of snow, nothing where you’d be building a snowman or anything but it definitely makes it feel so Christmassy!

5. T K Maxx

Now I’m pretty sure I could live in T K Maxx, I love it so much. Paul and I went in there, for basically nothing and ended up coming out with a penguin, a stag and a few other things for under our tree. The amount that you can get in there is honestly amazing, and I’m a sucker for anything cute and festive!

6. Gingerbread

Is there anything more festive than Gingerbread? I adore doing some lovely festive baking & I actually posted the recipe and it is so easy (you can find that here) and even though I’m not the best at decorating, the gingerbread biscuits always taste amazing. Who can resist a good biscuit with a cuppa & they’re perfect to leave out for Santa too!

So those are some of the amazing things that have happened over the last few weeks? What amazing things have happened to you?

I have a winter anniversary too, not a wedding one though and we have decided that next year for our 5 year to go somewhere cosy rather than going out for drinks in the cold! Open fires are honestly SO lovely I wish I had one in my house. You have just reminded me that I need to visit Tk Maxx. Grandparents are honestly so precious and gingerbread is my ultimate fave around christmas time!(maybe just all the time hehe) xx

Ah, open fires – you can’t beat them in the cold weather. 😀 I used to love going to my nan’s but especially this time of year when she’d be baking mince pies and jam tarts for Christmas. She was an amazing baker. When she passed, I got her mixing bowl that she always used. I liked to think that when I was baking and using her bowl that she was with me as everything I baked turned out great! Sadly I can’t bake any more but my 15yr old daughter does and she uses the same bowl and she is fab at baking cakes and cookies etc too. Thank you so much for posting this, you just brought back some wonderful memories! 😀
