If anyone had said to me about 8 years ago, oh you’ll be celebrating being married 4 years in 2018, I would have probably looked at them like they were ridiculous! I mean 17 year old me, really wasn’t interested in getting married, but I met someone that completely changed my mind and my life. It is so weird to say I’ve been married 4 years, I feel like it has gone so quickly and just like that in a blink of an eye, I’ve been Mrs Cadwallader for 4 years. I literally wouldn’t change a thing either, it’s been the best 4 years.
Being married has literally taught me so much, not just about myself but about where I want to be in my life. It is literally a life changing experience getting married – I’m not just saying that to be corny either.
I feel like being married has been one of the biggest rollercoasters but it’s a journey that I’m so grateful for!
I still remember the day I got married, I remember waiting to go into the room and almost crying with my Dad because I was so emotional. I was so ready to get married to this amazing man.
We have had so many ups and downs in our married life, but when you have someone by your side that understands you, loves you and supports you regardless – that is what I am beyond grateful for.
I actually wrote a bit of an in depth post back in 2016 all about our relationship so if you fancy getting to know us a little more including how Paul proposed & our first date you can read that here!
So like I said earlier what have I learned over 4 years of marriage?
Communication Is Key
It is so important to communicate with your partner, especially when something is wrong. I’ve always been a good communicator, although sometimes I don’t always think before I speak. It is one of my downfalls but it works for me.
If I don’t say something I literally just stew on it, and then it turns into a storm in a tea cup situation, and that is something that no one needs in their life.
Listen To Each Other
Now I’m the kind of person that believes I’m a pretty good listener, but sometimes even for me things go in one ear and out the other – sorry Paul. But listening to each other is so important, especially when you’re trying to see things from their point of view, I mean there are some things my husband doesn’t understand and some things that I don’t either, but we listen and learn from each other.
Don’t Give Up
Now I got married at 21, I actually wrote a blog post on it you can read that here, and people were like but you’re too young to be married, it won’t last 5 minutes. But if I’m honest as long as you love each other and you’re willing to put in the work, it doesn’t matter about age. When things get tough, love even harder, that’s the reason you got married in the first place!
I’ve been so lucky and I’m eternally grateful for having this most amazing husband, especially when he saves me the last slice of pizza – that is true love even in itself if I’m honest! 4 years has literally flown by, but I genuinely can’t wait to spend forever with you – and I might even save you the last piece of pizza this time..

Congrats on 4 years Amie! I don’t think anyone has the right to say someone is too young or too old to get married. It’s up to the couple at the end of the day! <3
I know what you mean, but everyone has an opinion, I’m happy I chose to get married at 21 and that is all that matters! xxxx
Congratulations beautiful! My husband and I also celebrated our four year wedding anniversary on 12th December this year so I can really relate to a lot of what you have said in this blog post. 💜✨
With love, Alisha Valerie x | http://www.alishavalerie.com
Thank you so much my darling & happy belated wedding anniversary angel! xxxxx
Happy anniversary lovely! This was such a lovely post to read and I can totally relate. We got married almost exactly a year ago and I have no doubt many people thought we were too young (22) but it was the right thing for us. It just felt right and when it does, why wait? Hope you have a fab time celebrating xx

I totally agree, as long as it is right for you and your partner that is literally all that matters at the end of the day! xxxx
Happy Anniversary!! – it goes so quick, doesn’t it! They do say time flies when you’re having fun though. 😉 I couldn’t agree more though with what you have learnt. Especially communication! 🙂

Thank you so much my darling! I totally agree, you really do need to communicate with each other! xxxx
This is beautiful! It always annoys me when people think they have the right to comment on other people’s relationships, and I’m so glad you’re proving them all wrong. Happy anniversary!
Thank you so much my darling, as long as 2 people are happy that is literally all that matters! xxxx

Thank you my lovely! xxxx
I absolutely love ‘don’t give up’ and couldn’t agree with this more. I feel like the cause of most failed relationships is that people nowadays are just too quick to throw the towel in when it gets hard. Congratulations on your 4 year anniversary!

Relationships are so hard, but you get ups and downs, but you just have to love each other even harder! xxxx
When time goes by, we can change. Our views can change, what we want can change, and that’s fine! I love that you’ve been happily married for four years and counting! Love your lessons learned – communication IS KEY! We need to be able to comfortably express ourselves to each other. Wishing you and hubby a very happy anniversary ♥

Thank you so much my angel! Communication is really important, that is how if something is wrong you know how to fix it, and you just keep working at it! It’s hard but it is so worth it! xxxx
Oh wow! Happy anniversary! It’s all about the couple, that’s the only thing that matters and an age doesn’t necessarily dictate whether it wouldn’t work.

Congratulations of 4 years of marriage! I’ve been with my OH for 6 years, we’ve been engaged for 2, even though it seems like just yesterday at he got down on one knee! We’re concentrating on buying a house before we even think of the wedding, but I’m still secretly pinning ideas together for the big day!
Thank you so much my lovely! That is what we are saving for right now, I don’t blame you, Pinterest is a haven for wedding ideas! xxxx

Congratulations on your wedding anniversary lovely! xx
Thank you so much my angel! xxxx
Aww this is such a lovely post. It’s annoying when people think they can comment on other relationships. I know I certainly wasn’t ready for anything like that at 21, but that’s just me, that doesn’t mean other people are the same. Congratulations on 4 years and I hope the two of you had the best day for your anniversary x

I think that everyone deserves the chance to be happy. We don’t necessarily get to choose when or where that is, but when you find it, you sure as heck keep fighting for it. Congrats! And here’s to the next four decades 🙂
