Lately blogging has pretty much taken a back seat. Ever since I started my new job over a year ago, I’ve been trying to make sure I keep up with my blog, produce content that I enjoy and just sharing the things that make me happy. Blogging has always been an outlet for me, a place that I feel I can share my thoughts, feelings, and just enjoy as a platform, but lately I’ve been questioning where I want to take my blog in 2020.
When it comes to blogging, there are genuinely so many talented people out there, and I’m so proud to be part of that, but with the high quality content, it makes you feel a little pressure to work harder and be better.
The amazing thing about us as content creators is we are able to share our life, share the things we enjoy, but it also comes with comparisons. I’ve been taking a few moments when it comes to my blog, I’ve been thinking about the way it looks, my feed, the content that I create and honestly I’ve felt like it doesn’t compare to what everyone else is able to create.
I don’t feel like I’ve been able to post as often as I would like to, and I kind of feel like I’ve left so many people behind in the blogging world because I’m not around as often as I used to be.
I feel like over the last year or so, I have grown so much as a person, I have been able to learn so much about myself, what I can handle and know that I am capable of so much. It has been overall an empowering but challenging year.
My blog has always been my safe space, and I feel like I’m doing a very good job of looking after it the way that I used so.
I am determined to be a better blogger, I’m working harder on my content, where I want to go this year and I’m trying to dedicate as much time as I physically can to my blog. I am dedicating as much time as I can right now to my blog, being the weekends, during the evening if I get a moment and when I am on annual leave. But I’m trying to find a healthy balance.
I’m trying to do my best to not compare what I do to others. The joy of my blog is that I am able to share what I genuinely enjoy and it doesn’t have to be the same as everyone else, it just has to be authentic to me.
So, what am I doing to stop the comparisons and be a better blogger?
- Focus on my own content and enjoy what I do rather than what others are doing.
- Share the things that I love the most
- Ignore the pressure to be perfect with my blog
- End the amount of pressure that I put on myself to do everything
- Be more creative, especially when it comes to my photography
- If I don’t have anything to say, that is okay. Quality over quantity.
- Remember the reason why I started blogging.
At the end of the day, the reason I started blogging was to have a space to share my voice, and I found that through this platform, sometimes, I feel like I have forgotten why I started, but I’m determined to get back there.

This is a great post ♡ I used to compare myself to other bloggers a lot and it really got me down. Now I’m too busy focusing on my own blog and just enjoying writing what I feel like sharing!
Wow! I have been feeling like this lately! I have been blogging for five years now and had to start over and it’s hard not to compare myself to others. It’s hard for me to balance between how I want to blog and trying to grow, too. It’s hard for me to not compare and feel low at myself when I see how amazing all of these bloggers are. I’m terrible with promoting and photography. I’m trying my best and am going to look back on this often.
I personally started blogging as an outlet to be myself. I used to be the girl who posted (too much) about my personal life and I got a lot of criticism for it. So, I set off to make my own space and different names and platforms later, I’m satisfied with where I’m at. I feel like myself for the first time since I was a kid. I feel good.
But, then I compare myself to others. I feel sad, jealous, and frustrated with myself. I know it’s not perfect and I can do so much better but that’s so hard for me.
For what it’s worth, I really love your content and think you’re doing an amazing job with it!
Sorry, I totally just vented a bit on your page. I LOVED this post and it spoke to me on a personal level.

I blog as a hobby so I have to make sure I don’t compare myself too much to those that do it as a job! xx
I can totally relate. Last year, Blogging took a backseat because I was busy with my Youtube Channel. I felt so lost when I returned to blogging again. But remembering why I started my blog has put everything in perspective again.
Wish you a wonderful year of blogging babe ❤️
It is okay when blogging isn’t as active as before. You have priorities and you’re doing your thing :). Comparison is something that will hold us back no matter what. We need to be focused on ourselves and as for relations with others, we need to be mutually supportive.

I related so much to this post – blogging started out as an outlet for me, but once I went back to school & started my new job, it started to suck out some of the joy I got from blogging. You’re totally right about sometimes playing the comparison game, but needing to focus on why we all blog, too.
I wish you all the best this year as you continue on your blogging journey and create content that you love. 💜
I love your goal to focus on your own content and writing what YOU love to write. The blogging community is fab and so supportive but can sometimes be a little competitive, unfortunately. It’s great to take a step back sometimes and remember exactly why you started your blogging journey to begin with. <3 x
You raise some great thoughts in terms of not comparing. It can be easier said than done but I think the content is better when you are focused on you and not others and comparisons!
Oh my goodness, I think we can all relate to this in some way! I always put way too much pressure on myself to be a better blogger and think “why the hell am I doing this?” I’m definitely going to take some of your tips and see if I can put them into practice to help me relax and just enjoy blogging more.
Oh yes, I feel the same too and I’m sure many other bloggers do too! Insightful post and you are right, don’t compare and just enjoy and be you!
It’s definitely easy to get caught up in comparisons with other bloggers – and comparisons with others in general, thanks to social media. I love your bullet points though – especially focusing on your reasons for blogging and writing about what YOU enjoy ❤
Comparing myself to blogger’s is one of my biggest downfalls! I really need, as you say, just focus on my own content and ignore the pressure! x

Such a great post, thank you for sharing with us. Blogging is so competitive, and it’s so hard not to compare ourselves to others. I see bloggers being so productive on social media, whilst I’m scrolling in bed and always feel so guilty, so I’m trying really hard to just stay in my own lane and do what I can, when I can xo

I love this and your list of things you’re trying to do. I know I can definitely feel the pressure to keep up and try to improve because some people have absolutely incredible content. I really appreciate what you said about creating the content you love and want to create too! It can be so easy to look at what does well and do more of that even if it isn’t your favourite x

I feel this – I’m always comparing myself. I don’t think it’ll ever stop! x
You are ana amazing blogger and I always love reading through your posts! Your new look blog is amazing too! I really love this theme xxx
Yes – quality of quantity! I had to keep reminding myself that too when I was short on time or ideas!
I definitely go through phases of comparing myself to other bloggers but I think just taking a step back to focus on yourself rather than others is so important! x

I could have written this myself! x
This is so important! I feel you the entire way with this – I’ve got a bad habit of constantly thinking that my blog is nothing compared to anyone else’s. At the end of the day, so what – I enjoy it and that’s what’s important (I’ve actually just written a post about this!). It’s also really hard juggling it around working and being able to do what you want, isn’t it? I adore your blog!
I think it is amazing you are conscious of where you have been slipping. It is hard to start right out balancing old and new, and I think the new always gets more attention. But, after the flow is established, it is much easier to work old and new into one’s life together.
I love what you are doing to focus and be a better blogger! Comparisons can be poisonous!
This is such a good post! It is so hard to not compare yourself to other bloggers there are times when I find myself doing exactly the same thing but you are doing great and your posts are brilliant. I can’t wait to read more posts from you in the future.
I agree 100% I think there will always be bloggers that are better in some ways, but they aren’t you. To be a better blogger is just some time, practice and a little honesty with blog posts I think.

I needed to read this today. Thank you for sharing this.
I really love how honest and open that you have been in this post my darling, I think we all feel like this sometimes so please know that you are not alone. I’m sending you so much love. 💜

I totally relate to this struggle, girl! I try to remember that everyone’s blog is different, no blog is technically ‘better’ than another. Everyone has different types of readers that like to read varied topics throughout posts, so it’s never a good idea to compare yourself to another blogger gal! It’s super great that your blog is your safe space – so is mine, thankfully xx
I’m always telling myself similar things when I lose my passion a bit.
Remember why you started and don’t compare to anyone else 😊

I have these feelings allll the time. I’m literally sat blogging thinking that I’m not good enough, I don’t get ads or sponsored posts and do you know what, it’s insane!

Great tips, I think we should focus on ourselves more to be productive and don’t waste out time looking at other people.
Wow, sounds like a great way t turn things around. Dnt be so hard on yourself! You’ve produced some amazing blogs. Being you is what makes your blog so unique and special. <3 x
This post resonated with me so much, I’m always comparing myself to other bloggers, I really need to remember why I started blogging in the first place! x
I feel the same sometimes! I had a mini meltdown today where I had decided to finally buy a preset, as that is what everyone else does, to make my Instagram feed look more consistent, so more people would like it. Which should NOT be the way I’m going about things 🤦♀️ anyway, it ended up failing and while the preset looked nice on some of my photos, it looked terrible on others, and no amount of fiddling would make it look okay. I think I have to come to terms with the fact that my Instagram is mine, even though I created it for my blog, and that it’s okay for it not to be perfect, or look as great as another blogger’s feed!

Don’t give up, I love your blog and it’s content, although it is so difficult to not compare yourself with others (and there’s always new themes, trends etc. coming out) …. I’ve stopped doing that & now just doing me!

I relate a lot to this post, but please don’t compare yourself to others! One of the reasons I love your blog is that you are so natural and authentic. I love your writing, your photography and how genuine your blog is.
