I am 100% a worrier, I genuinely cannot help it. Even when it comes to the smallest of things, I end up overthinking things, and my anxiety doesn’t allow me to always think as logically as I would like. It is a cross I have to bare and something that doesn’t come easily for me. This year however there are a few things I’m trying to stop worrying about for my own wellbeing, because if I’m totally honest, I need to. So what am I trying to stop worrying about?
1. What People Think Of Me
I’ve written a whole blog post on the fact that I genuinely struggle with what people think of me. I don’t want people to think I’m a bad person or anything like that, and I always worry that sometimes because of my anxiety I have so many barriers up. I don’t think I come across that well sometimes, and it worries me. I’m trying to learn that the right people will always know that I am not a horrible person, that everyone is battling something and sometimes we just catch people at the wrong time.
2. Unimportant People
I’ve talked recently about how I’ve lost friendships, how I’ve grown as a person because of those friendships and I’m just doing what I can to not worry about what they haven’t bought to my life. We are now strangers with memories, and I am so grateful for that, I’m not going to worry about them and how they are impacting me, I just need to focus on what make me happy, and if it isn’t them, and they are bringing me unhappiness, I don’t need that in my life.
3. The Past
Now when it comes to the past, I have done my best to let go of that, but there will always be a few things that bring back reminders. The past is never going to change, and it is never going to change, but the most important thing is you learn from what has happened.
4. Trolls
I’ve had so many people who have slid into my emails and messages over the last few years, and it genuinely can be so hard to deal with. It makes you feel so lost, especially because you can never fully understand why someone would treat you like that. Why they would do that to someone they don’t even know, I mean it is completely ridiculous to be honest.
5. Things Outside Of My Control
If there is something I have learned lately, it’s that as long as I can account for my own actions, it is all that matters. There is no way in the entire world you will be able to control the way that other people react, the way that other people treat you but as long as you can account for your own actions. You should never feel guilty or accountable for things that are outside of your control.
6. Mistakes
I’m such a perfectionist in everything that I do, and it is absolutely exhausting. Everyone makes mistakes, it is part of life, and it is also about learning from those mistakes and mistakes are what make us human. We all get frustrated, it makes us feel like we can’t do anything, but that is the complete opposite. We are strong human beings and we can do this!

I’m the same! My mind takes a perfectly normal situation and morphs it into the worst possible scenario, that most of the time isn’t even slightly realistic. Sometimes I feel worried and I don’t even know why, I’m just worried about being worried, that’s probably the biggest thing I want to stop doing.

Sometimes it is so hard not to overthink things especially when your brain takes a situation and gives you 1 million scenarios most of which aren’t even realistic possibilities. I have been working really hard recently to try and stop caring what people think of me I think I am starting to get on top of it but it is still really hard.
I need to stop caring so much about what people think. I wonder what I’ve done wrong and if I’m a bad person haha. Anxiety is a beast haha
I agree with the things to stop worrying about!! Unimportant people are unimportant for a reason – they don’t give us value so why should their hate affect us??? I agree with the other topics to move past as well.

That first one is definitely me – I realised the other day that I’m actually getting worse with worrying what people think of me. I also need to learn that not everything is under my control and there are times to just stop rather than racing to try and get things accomplished. Great post hun!
This is a great list. Much easier said then done but great aspirational goals. I’m including them on my list as well. Some I feel I’ve already achieved and some are definitely a work in progress.
These are all great things to try and stop worrying about. When I stopped worrying about what other people who didn’t matter thought of me it was one of the best things ever! I need to stop worrying about things that aren’t in my control as well, such a pointless waste of energy x

Fantastic post. I love the idea of trying to refocus your energy and to try and not worry about these things. Definitely agree with the not worrying about what people think, people are gonna do what they want and it’s totally out of our control how they feel about us. You be you. Emma x
Yes to all of these. Not worrying about things we can’t control frees up so much space for us to think about the things that do matter x
This is really inspiring as I am trying not to worry about what people think about me and I am wearing what I want and having my hair how I want, not how I think it should be!! x
Something I heard a while ago which I remind myself of often is the less you care the happier you are. It’s so true.

It’s scary sometimes how much your mind takes over your life! I need to stop worrying about the mistakes I have made and also my past, it’s hard but we’ll hopefully get there! x

Such a great list of things to stop worrying about. I need to work on these too!
Girl, we have the exact same mindset. All of these things cause me a lot of anxiety, and I’m always like “why?” I wish every day that I didn’t care so much what other people think. It’s hard when you’re a people pleaser. Anyway, stay strong! And tell the trolls to go to Hell 😉
A helpful blog that came at the right time, I’m working on Me and theres a few things there that I hadn’t considered. Thank you! ❤
I am actually terrible at worrying about what people are thinking of me.. naturally I am ingrained to be a worrier so it’s a killer

What an inspiring post! There are so many great things in life we can be thinking about instead. Good luck with it all. Xx
Great post, I can relate to this.
Love this! I’m trying to do exactly the same and live in the present, but it can be difficult sometimes.
Thanks for sharing x

I think all of us could do with trying to let go of these worries. One that I desperately try to push out of my mind is definitely what people think of me. I often see people who are just unapologetically themselves and don’t have to think so much before they speak and I wish I could be more like that. I’m working on it but I’m also aware that my worry about people liking me does come from a good place; a place of not wanting to offend people or of saying the wrong thing and I think that’s worth keeping in mind too!
Loved this post Amie!! I definitely need to stop worrying about what people think of me! I remember reading a great quote that said someone else’s opinion of you isn’t any of your business!! I think I hate the thought of people saying things about me behind my back, but I need to let it go and concentrate on the lovely things people say to my face 🙂 xx
