5 Things I’ve Learned In The First 5 Months Of The Year

How are we almost in the middle of May. What the hell is going on? I’m pretty sure I just blinked and it was May. It’s been such a busy month, if you’re reading this and it is like July I’m sorry. I feel like I’ve learned so much over the last few months, I’ve had a few wake up calls, I feel like I’ve kind of grown as a person. Corny I know, but it is true on so many levels.

Life is literally filled with ups and downs, and you learn as you go! So what have I learned?

Don’t be a plonker and ignore self care

Yep, the person who practically blogs about self care all of the time didn’t take her own advice. Yep I’m that plonker. Not so long ago, back in January if I remember rightly, my mental health was literally at rock bottom. After Christmas I had had such a busy time, I hadn’t stopped, going around all of my family, having literally the best time, I didn’t have any time to myself. I was literally emotionally drained. I was exhausted. That was nothing against my family, I mean they’re all absolute sweethearts and I love them so much, but I was knackered by it all.

Be unapologetically you

If you saw my post the other day about body shamers you will know it has been a rough few weeks. If you haven’t seen it, then you can read that post here.  If there is one thing I have learned it’s that you should always be you, don’t let anyone try to change you, influence you to be something you’re not, you’re fabulous just the way you are, you don’t need to change because you’re bloody fabulous!

Breaks are important

Social media has been all consuming lately, I love social media don’t get me wrong, it’s just not physically possible to be online all of the time. I’ve bee scheduling my tweets and just taking some time and not getting too worried about tweeting. I feel like it has really helped me if I’m honest. I feel refreshed, I’m enjoying social media a lot more and just appreciating it a lot more, not just because I can promote my blog but also because I have friends that I can stay in contact with through it!

Stop worrying about what others think

Following on from the body shamers post, I’m always the kind of person that worries what people think of me, I mean I’m never going to worry about what other people think again, but I’ve been trying my best since that incident to stop letting them consume me. It’s bloody draining and completely unnecessary. Life is to be lived and I want to live my life the way I want to. If it doesn’t please someone, well I’m pretty sure that isn’t my problem – is it?

Make the effort with the right people

If there is one thing I’ve learned it’s that you should always make the effort with the right people. There are some people that come into your life for a reason, some come in and you just grow apart, others on the other had give you a massive lesson that you didn’t realise you actually needed. I feel like lately I’ve honestly been realising who I really do want in my life, who means a lot to me and the people who are worth making time for. It does seem cruel but I think when you are the one always making the effort, it gets to the point where it’s like nope.

Have you learned anything in the last few months? Let me know in the comments!

Aww, loved reading this! I can’t believe it’s May, though. I feel like so much has happened this year already and we are only five months in.

I agree with you about social media. I make a point of scheduling plenty of tweets over the weekend so I can focus on spending time with my boyfriend. Plus, when you’ve got all the kind of promo/general tweets scheduled, you can focus more on interacting on there when you do log on.

Definitely keep being you, Amie! You’re great. 🙂

This is wonderful! Self-care is a huge factor when it comes to improving your overall life. I am in desperate need of some self-care today. Today, it’s blogging, a Christmas candle, and some hot chocolate while it rains.

    • amiecadwallader@outlook.com says:

That sounds absolutely perfect, I love a good hot chocolate, but it has been so hot in the UK it’s been more ice cold drinks than hot! xxxx

i am forever worried about what people think, I dont know why but i wish i could read peoples minds haha

    • amiecadwallader@outlook.com says:

I always wonder if that would be a good thing, but if you could read their minds, would you be worried about what they have said? xxxx

  • This is so true! I think taking breaks and self care are things I need to work on!

  • Amy says:

As I’m getting older, I’m caring less about what others think – if you don’t like it, lump it. They’re not worth my time knowing really, and now I wonder why I worried so much at school. Young girls now will feel exactly the same as I do when they get older and think their schoolfriends are all they have, because they’re not at all.
