I’ve been so transparent with how I’ve been feeling lately, I’ve been feeling quite low, anxiety has basically been kicking my backside and it has been a bit of a struggle to be honest. However, there are a few things that have genuinely been making me feel better, helping me to cope and just smile.
If you’re having a bit of a tough time at the moment, then this post is for you!
- Talk to someone about how you’re feeling.
- Listen to a playlist that makes you relax
- Write down how you’re feeling
- Find new music to listen to
- Long walks
- Cuddles with fur babies
- Starting a new box set
- Singing along to old music favourites
- Burning candles
- Bowls of pasta
- Starting a new book
- Long drives with good music
- Hearing a good joke
- Listening to the rain
- Curling up in a duvet and pillows
- Having a good cup of tea or coffee
- Spending time with your family
- Cosy blankets
- Turning off your phone and forgetting the world
- Reminisce about good times with the people you love
- Baking all the delicious food
- Make plans with someone you haven’t seen in a while
- Watching YouTube videos of animals
- Rewatching your favourite box set
- Putting a face mask on
- Write yourself a letter
- Having a good cry
- Walking on crunchy leaves
- Reach out to someone you haven’t spoken to for a while
- Take a deep breath
- Look through some old photos
- Write a gratitude list
- Take a nap
- Eat your favourite foods
- Dance to your favourite song
- Remind yourself that bad times don’t last forever
- Have a hot bath with bath salts
- Surround yourself with people that make you smile
- Listen to show tunes (my personal favourite when I’m feeling down is you can’t stop the beat!)
- Take up a new hobby (I’m learning a new language!)
- Buy yourself some gorgeous flowers to brighten your day
- Make a list of your accomplishments
- Treat yourself to something you have always wanted
- Give yourself a break
- Write down some goals for yourself and what you want to achieve in the next few months
- Long hugs with the people you love
- Give yourself a compliment
- Do some yoga
- Indulge in your own guilty pleasure (Mine is definitely Dance Moms!)
- Make a gratitude list
Life is always going to throw curveballs in your way, there is always going to be something that tries to get you down, but it is about how you deal with it. Like I have said lately I’ve been struggling a lot with so many areas of my life, but I do not want to let it defeat me, I want to continue to live my life in the best possible way with the people that I love.
This year has definitely been one of the best and worst years, but I know I can get through it as I long as I just keep going and don’t give up.
People are always stronger than they realise, never forget that. And if you are going through a tough time right now, you are never alone.

This is a great list! I always find that listening to music, reading a good book, or playing a fun and simple game always help me relax and smile. I always end up going to games like Stardew Valley, Garden Paws, or one of my favorite Nancy Drew games.

I believe in you, I’m sure we get through tough times buts its all about keep going forward.
Number 13 is my favorite from your lists. Humour is the key to happiness, weather you’re doing or saying something funny and stupid, or watching standup or a comedy. A good laugh can change your mood
I agree with most of these! Thank you for sharing them and I will keep this in mind xx
Many good ideas! At the moment, the best thing I like to do to help me is either bake or visit my favourite bakery in London for cake! Basically just eating cake!

It’s amazing how honest you are with how you’re feeling. It helps to know you’re not alone. All amazing things to do. When I’m having a REALLY rough day, I tend to stay in bed because it’s my cozy safe space and watch one of my favourite series (like One Tree Hill) or some inspiring documentaries x
What an uplifting post!! I love that you included crunching leaves—definitely a great past time 😃
This post has come at the right time for me, I have been struggling lately with my mental health, thanks for these tips. x

Aww I love this so much! I’m definitely a big fan of throwing on some great music when I’m feeling down or confiding in a partner. Show tunes are the best! Can’t be sad when you’re belting out Defying Gravity 😉
These are great things! Writing down your feelings I am an advocate for, I think Journalling can be so beneficial. Thank you for sharing xx
I love this post! Will definitely look back at this when I’m having a difficult day and need something to cheer me up 🙂 Pinning it to my #YearOfYou board ❤

Such a great list, I love that there’s some that you can do by yourself and some that involve other people, sometimes you really need one or the other to brighten your mood before you can face the world. A little time with my dog usually cheers me up x

This list is GOLD! There are days when things aren’t really that great and this list makes a big difference when it comes to coming up with activities to keep your mind away. Thanks for sharing!
