I’ve literally been on the blogging scene for over 4 years now and I’m honestly I feel like there isn’t anything I’ve never addressed in my personal life. However when you share your life online, there is always going to be criticism, it can make you feel incredibly vulnerable and it can be so hard to just share your life and put yourself out there! There are a few things that you do need to remember though when you do share your life online and just being online in general.
1. The Internet Doesn’t Define Your Worth
The thing with blogging and sharing posts on Instagram, Twitter you get instant reactions, and when you don’t get the likes, the views or the comments you normally do or anything like that, it can genuinely be quite disheartening. You can put your heart and soul into something and you get a couple of views and you’re like damn, what did I do wrong? But the views, the likes, the comments, it doesn’t define your worth online, it isn’t everything in life and what you bring to the world is worth more than comments and likes.
2. Don’t Let It Crush Your Self Esteem
Since I started sharing full body photos on my feed (it’s been a couple of years since I started doing this) I feel like I have struggled with my self esteem. I am plus size, and sometimes I don’t always feel confident enough, I have received a lot of comments about my size and my weight in the past (if you missed my post the other day about people making comments – read this post here) both in person and online, but I’m trying to do my best to not let is crush me but it can be so hard.
3. Don’t Let It Stop You From Chasing Your Dreams
Blogging has always been a hobby for me, I’ve been so lucky to have had the best journey with my blog, I’ve worked with some amazing brands and I’m so grateful for that. There are always people that will try and tear you down, they will try and stop you from chasing your dreams and achieving what you want in your life. Set your goals and absolute slay it, you can achieve everything in your life when you put your mind to it.
4. You Won’t Be Everyone’s Cup Of Tea
You can never please everyone, in life or online and that is something you will need to accept. Whether you are writing a blog post, sharing a photo or sharing a tweet and it might not be something someone likes and that is okay.
5. Always Be Yourself
It is so easy but also so hard all at the same time, you always want to share your life, share your thoughts and feelings, but sometimes it can be hard to be yourself, especially when you are so vulnerable but just be yourself. Be yourself, write the posts you want, take the photos you want, share your life and do what makes you happy.

I completely agree with everything you mention. It can be such an awful place at times and sometimes I think a break is the best thing.

Amazing post! It’s so easy to get caught up on the internet, especially when we all share so much on here and start the comparison game! But it’s also good to teach us everything you have mentioned, that it does not define our self worth and we are not always everyone cup of tea, and that’s okay! Thanks for sharing! <3 x
All amazing things to remember. I think if you can’t accept these then a life online probably isn’t for you x
These are such great tips! 😊
It’s so sad to know that people let social media and the online world affect their self-esteem. It’s so important to remember how things are altered for online purposes and we should never compare to anything.

Always being yourself is so important x
Yes! Online life is such a whirl, and it can seem like more happens there than in the real world, but reality is where you are at and where you should remember to be, no matter if your eyes do float around the web.
I am not everyone’s cup of tea. I know that. And I love being different! After all, many of us are an acquired taste. 🙂
I totally agree with you about considerations about sharing your info online. It is important that we think twice before posting in case we end up posting something regretful. At the same time, we should be genuine with ourselves. There is no reason to have a front :). Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

This is all so true! You need to stay true to yourself and try not to be someone else online as then you often lose who you really are 🙁
I’m always myself online but I do find myself comparing myself to others and not feeling good enough. Not all the time, it’s usually when my mood is low. 🙂

Aww I love this – and it’s so true, you need to keep everything in perspective and know that not everyone will necessarily like you or what you do, but that’s because everyone’s different.

This is such a great post! I am very picky about what I choose to share and I enjoy not sharing everything!

I’ve been thinking about this a lot recently!
Sometimes social media causes a dopamine rush! For some, it’s like a game in which you amass followers to move on to the next level. It’s hard keeping up especially when you see other people with massive followings. I have a friend who has just that and she travels around the world for reviews on experiences and hotels. You would think that she was a rich influencer but in reality she struggles and doesn’t pay her fellow blog writers for travel posts. It’s sad because her blog depends on good writing for her to keep up appearances of her lifestyle. So, what I learned from your blog is to be true to myself. It can be done!
