5 Things I’ve Learned In 3 Years Of Blogging

My blog turned 3 earlier this year, and do you know what I feel like I’ve learned so much during that time, I mean I’m pretty sure that I’m always learning about something in the blogging world, there is always something new, a new thing to learn – especially with SEO, I’m pretty sure I’m always learning. Not only that I’m always looking at new ways to create, I mean over the last few years, the way I blog has changed, what I create has changed and the way I go about my blog is completely different. So what have I learned?

1. You must always be yourself

Your blog is an extended version of you, you should always share what makes you happy, the way you would talk in real life. Now I might be slightly more out there because I can be awkward AF in person, but sharing who you are on your blog is so important. Don’t ever feel like you have to be someone you’re not, to conform to the way that others are, your blog is unique because you are you!

2. Give yourself a break

I took a little bit of a break when I went away, I queued all my blog posts, I scheduled all of my stuff and I took a break, and do you know what it helped more than words can ever say, I felt refreshed and ready to come back with some new content. Breaks just give your creative mind some space. I feel so much better about everything.

3. Write what you want, when you want

Having this amazing platform means that you can write when you want, how you want and basically about whatever you want. Don’t feel like you need to keep to a schedule, I mean schedules work for some people but not all of us, this is your platform and you can do what you want, when you want!

4. The blogging community is one of your greatest support systems

Now I’ve met some of the most incredible people through blogging, they’re the ones that really do keep me creating all of this stuff. Every post is because I want to create but also because they give me such a boot up the backside to just keep going and to not give up with it. Of course my real life friends keep me going, they’re my world but my blogging friends are the ones that understand the amount of work that goes into every post!

5. Never let the negativity get to you

Over the years I’ve had my fair share of negative comments about my weight, my body, the way I look and the way that I am, and it is quite disheartening, but do you know what there is always going to be someone who tries to bring you down. A sad thought I know but there is always going to be someone who tries to rain on your parade but don’t let the parade stop, do you thing, enjoy it and show the world what an incredible person you are!

What are your thoughts? What have you learned through blogging? Let me know in the comments!

Happy blog birthday! I totally agree with being yourself – I find there’s a real pressure present yourself in a certain way or to copy big bloggers but my favourite bloggers are those whose individuality shines through

This is such a beautiful post Amie! I love your super upfront approach. I started a similar style blog to yours 10 months ago (vegan living, beauty and self care) and it’s been a tough but super rewarding ride. Thanks for reminding me that hard work pays off!
