5 Things I’ve Learned About Myself Lately

It has been a bit of a rollercoaster ride in the world of me lately, but that is okay, it makes me learn so much about myself, and it also makes me realise so much about my life. There has been so much going on, but I’ve got the most incredible people around me that keep me grounded and are the most supportive people ever.

I’ve been on this crazy learning curve lately, and even though it has been tough I’m going to share the things that I’ve learned about myself.

It’s Okay To Ask For Help

If you have seen my social media, I haven’t been the in greatest space lately, anxiety has basically been kicking my backside, and I’ve had a really tough time with it. I have tried my best to not let anxiety get the best of me, but lately it has kicked my backside. Since then I have asked for help, I’ve spoken to my family and the people I work with and they are the best people. My team at work are the best people and I’m so grateful for them.

I’m Stronger Than I Realised

I wrote a post a while a go with the same title (see that post here) and since I’ve been struggling with my anxiety more and more but I’ve realised that I can get through anything. I have the most amazing people around me, the people I love more than anything in the world and as long as I have them that is what matters. My stepdad Andy texted me the other day, tough times don’t last forever, and it is true and it put everything into perspective for me.

Cutting Certain People out Of My Life Is Okay

I’ve been really aware of my friendship circle has been changing lately, and I am re-evaluating my friendships. There are certain people that I used to care about so much and we have grown up, grown apart and just focused on different things. Some people however are just toxic in your life, and I have cut those people out of my life, I haven’t deleted them from my life, but I haven’t made the effort much anymore, I don’t want that kind of friendship in my life.

You Don’t Have To Do Everything

I’m the kind of person that doesn’t really like to chill. At the weekend I’m like chilling? What is that when it is at home? You don’t have to do everything all the time, you don’t have to be busy 24/7 and you don’t have to have something in the calendar for every day. Some days you just need to get a massive pizza, put Netflix on and shut off from the world.

I Don’t Have To Have Walls Up All The Time

I don’t trust very easily, I struggle to trust people but I have been working on this. It makes me realise that I don’t have to have my walls up all of the time and it is okay to let people in.

These are things that I have realised about myself and there are things that I still need to learn, especially about letting people in.

Have you realised anything about yourself recently? Let me know in the comments!

Asking for helps is always the best way to go, my friends have been such a huge help whenever I’ve been feeling low, or sometimes even talking to my mom helps to get my mind clear. 100% I think as time goes on, we realize that we’re stronger than we realized, which means we go through a lot but always come up on the other end – tough times don’t last forever even if while we’re in the tough time that it will last forever.

SNIP SNIP – my friendship group has gone through a lot of changes, some friendships that were one sided and some that just fell through the cracks and that’s completely okay, it’s important to always put yourself first no matter what!

I am terrible for putting walls up and I don’t let people in very easily. I don’t show my emotions either, so people tend to think I am very cold-hearted. In truth, I am the opposite. 🙂

Cutting people out of one’s life I think is critical sometimes for further growth. I have done it in the past and I’m starting to realize I need to again. There are just some people that do not improve your life and sometimes even make it negative. No one needs that type of emotional roller coaster. Best to cut in out and find something new. Glad you are learning all these things about yourself – our biggest critique is ourselves so this is something everyone should do!

The cutting people out of your life part has been especially important for me. When I reduced toxic people from my life, I felt so much better about everything. Those people bring you down and make you feel negative, and removing them is like using a great cleanser because you feel fresh again. It sucks you’ve been struggling with anxiety recently but sometimes these sort of reflections can give you a new way of looking at the situation and can give you new coping strategies. All the best! x
