I’ve talked a lot about social media lately, and it’s safe to say that I’m addicted to it. It doesn’t matter what I’m doing, you will most of the time find me with my phone in hand, or on my computer with Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest up. It’s safe to say that no matter where I go, social media seems to follow me.
The fact that I’m a blogger probably doesn’t make it any easier, but social media is something that my day tends to revolve around.
When it comes to social media, there are definitely so many thoughts that go through my head, mainly because I spend so much of my time on it. If I looked at the amount of time I actually spend on social media it would scare me.
When it comes to social media though there are so many thoughts that can go through your mind, and if you’re like me you overthink pretty much everything that comes with social media then welcome to the club!
First thing in the morning I literally open Instagram and scroll through, I mean I’m not gonna lie I can waste about an hour just scrolling through, liking, commenting on posts, trying to support my fellow creators whether it is an AD or if it just their regular content. As you scroll through you get endlessly envious of people’s Instagram, their feeds and meticulously looking at your grid and wondering what direction you want to go in with your grid and what hashtags to use.
When it comes to creating content, I’m very much a perfectionist. I like to have everything just so, it has to be perfectly placed and I’m just a sucker for lots of flowers, a cup of coffee and multiple props.
The problem with being addicted to social media is forever wondering what is going on, looking at different photo opportunities, outfit, food or just life in general and looking for Instagram content. It’s definitely one of those creative struggle moments.
Remember when it was so easy to upload a blurry selfie to social media and you would be completely happy with it? Stick one of the Instagram filters on it, share it everywhere and it would be perfect, now we have about 40 of the same photo, with a slightly different angle, hair sorted a bit different and basically trying to figure out what one we prefer to all the others. I mean the struggle is most definitely real.
Also the other thing about being addicted to social media is the fact that you’re forever retweeting cute videos of cats being rescued just to cheer us up.
Social media really isn’t all that bad, it can be pretty great if I’m honest. You can find people who really understand you and can connect you with other likeminded people.
Even though I am very much addicted to social media I will genuinely be forever grateful for it, it has bought some of the best people into my life.

I am definitely addicted to social media. I once did a two day detox from the internet and it almost killed me. I missed Twitter and Instagram a lot!!
I would like to think I’m not addicted to social media and actually before I started my blog in January I barely used it at all! But not if you want people to engage with your work you need to engage back so I spend a lot more time on it.
I am defo addicted to social media! I always go back to scrolling! Even though I am learning to detox at the weekend, coz it is the weekend. It annoys me when people are always like “god on your phone again” so finding like minded people is important!
I’d think to think that I’m not a social media addict but I’m sure the screen time app on my phone would disagree! However, I have to agree with you that I’m incredibly grateful to social media as it wouldn’t be possible for me to do what I’m doing without it! xx

I would say no, but I guess I straddle the fence as a blogger and content creator. It’s hard to do those things and no be heavily involved in social media. But recently I’ve turned off some of the notifications off on my phone and that’s helped me not check all my social media apps as often.
I completely agree with this, social media has brought me some amazing friends, and I spend way too much time on Instagram but it has inspired me to work harder on photography and getting more creative which I think is a good thing, I try to switch my phone off in the evenings and read but the temptation is always there!

Most of the time I really love social media and I’m just like you, one of the first things I do looks at twitter and Instagram in the morning. I think Twitter is actually one of my favourites as you get some of the funniest content there! Xx
I think it depends on how busy I am and what my plans are. Sometimes I am on social media for what feels like all day, and other days I might only check it once or twice. Definitely using more social media since I started blogging though!
Great post 🙂

I probably shouldn’t use social media as much as I do. But when you blog, you’ve got to use social media to promote your posts. So I guess it’s alright? I have definitely been using Instagram less recently though, it’s just getting do hard to create posts that people engage with.

I recently wrote a post about the importance of human connection, and it pretty much sums up everything I have in my mind about the matter. However, I’m an addict too, and I think we all are in our own way. It’s one of the best places on Earth, but it can suck you in so easily that you can divide your life into something that’s in and something that’s out of social media. And when the social media takes over, you rarely care about what’s happening in real life anymore and I’ve been really trying to avoid that.
Social media has so many advantages itself, but it also has its downsides.

I think I would really miss social media if it wasn’t around anymore, it’s such a great way to stay connected and meet new people 🙂 But I am trying to spend less time on it recently as I find I’m more productive when there are no distractions. I agree though, there are so many great positives to social media though and it is hard to go a day without it 🙂 <3 xx

I personally enjoy being on social media, but I can definitely put it down if I need to. Being a book blogger means spending more time with books than phones😂
I have a love-hate relationship with it. I’m addicted and I know it and sometimes I want to completely break-up with it! x
I wouldn’t say I’m addicted, however as a blogger and social media marketer, it certainly holds an incredibly important role in my life. I spend WAY more time on social media platforms than I ever thought I would, and like you, I’m super perfectionist about a lot of aspects. I am trying to let go just a little bit and go with the flow (at least on my personal accounts, still a perfectionist on client accounts lol)

I definitely need to look less but like others have said bloggers need it!
I need to try and take a break from checking my socials constantly on my phone xx
There’s no denying social media is incredible; I’ve connected with so many amazing people and the blogging community is as lovely as ever. However, I do find that my mind is constantly worrying about not posting on Instagram one day, or always craving to have a scroll through my social media feeds. I managed to ween myself away from scrolling in the mornings, not allowing myself to go on it until I’m ready for the day. Definitely have a love-hate relationship with it!

I wouldn’t like to admit that I was addicted to social media but it is kind of a habit to be scrolling through things now that I’m thinking about it, oops. Your pictures are always so gorgeous, I can see why you get caught up on Instagram!
I don’t feel that I am but I do spend a lot of time on social media as a blogger.

Social media is a beast of its own. I like seeing how people conquer the algorithm and put together their content. It’s great that you’re a perfectionist – the results come out really nicely. Oh man, I remember those blurry selfie days. Now I have a cow if a small part of the picture is blurry. Social media is great if you take advantage and make a full use of it.

Social media is such an interesting one! I genuinely wasn’t that bothered by it before I started my blog. I’m on it constantly now, feel bad if I miss a day. Comparison is always going to be there, unfortunately. And I hate the perfection that goes into Instagram now. I wish we could still post a blurry selfie! x

I can relate to a lot of what you have said lovely. I personally don’t think I am addicted to all social media, just twitter LOL! I agree that soial media does have some bad points but the good ones do outweigh the bad most of the time. Loved this blog post darling! 💜

I’m definitely addicted to social media to a degree. But being a full-time blogger, I kind of HAVE to be on social media. However I’ve set all the limits on my phone to shut social media off at 9pm and it’s been working WONDERS!

I’m definitely addicted to social media, I’m on either Instagram/Twitter/Facebook etc from as soon as I get up until late at night. I try to have regular breaks throughout the day now to make sure I’m not constantly scrolling but it’s hard! It’s easy to feel like you’re missing out if you’re not online xx

I’m defo a social media addict, never put my phone down and always feel lost without it
I don’t think I am addicted, but I do enjoy it. It can be great in moderation and as long as it doesn’t make you feel bad about yourself.
Hahaha honestly Amie you’ve totally summed up what goes on in my brain! Instagram is such a cause of stress for me right now because I’m forever comparing my grid to other people’s, having a meltdown when I can’t get my photo just right and wondering why a photo that I was SUPER proud of isn’t getting enough likes. But at the same time I’m addicted to it! I can’t win haha xo

I don’t think I am addicted to social media. My screen time for IG the other day was just over an hour. I don’t really use Facebook, other than to post stuff on my Blog’s FB page. Twitter I will have a quick scroll through 2 or 3 times a day but sometimes not at all. I spend the most time on Instagram. Liking posts, commenting and of course, posting. Most of that is done before bed or first thing in the morning. I could easily spend more time on there but I try not to just lately. 🙂

I’m totally addicted to socmed that even though I know I would mindlessly scrolling, it’s hard to stop doing so. My goal this year is to try lessen my time with my phone and so far….
it’s not working lol.

I would defo agree that I am addicted to social media. Recently I’ve been really trying to take bigger breaks which has made my blog suffer but my brain better!
Rosie
I really try to detox myself from social media! It really isn’t healthy to be connected the whole time x
I’m not gonna lie – I love sitting on my phone and browsing things! It is honestly so relaxing and one of my favorite ways to destress.
Yes Amy i absolutely agree with this post!! 😎 Social media may get a rough trot but without it I wouldn’t have met some of the very best people who are now among some of my very best friends. 💕💕 I think as long as you’re careful with it then it’s fine. 😊 xoxo
I think I am a little addicted… I had a look at my screen time the other day and it was MUCH higher than I’d thought it would be.
I’m gonna try and cut down. Or more, cut out dead scrolling and only go on when I have reason to.
