Tips On Staying Motivated As A Blogger

Blogging can be tough sometimes, to stay motivated to post and do all of the general admin you need to! Blogging isn’t the easiest thing to do but it is super rewarding – having somewhere to post all of your thoughts and feelings and just genuinely being able to be super creative in so many different ways.

If you hadn’t seen all over my social media I haven’t been feeling particularly motivated in general, but now is a time to basically get my head back in the game and give myself a kick up the backside with blogging.

Surround Yourself With Inspiring People

I am very lucky I follow some of the most inspiring people in my world, they’re the people who inspire me to keep creating, to keep pushing myself to create strong content and things that I genuinely enjoy. The best thing is being able to scroll through my social media, see all of this incredible content that people are creating and they basically motivate me to keep going and to create.

Your social media is your own, I keep saying this over and over again, but fill your feed with people that inspire you to be the best and most creative versions of yourself.

Have A Backlog Of Posts

I normally prepare for the time when I don’t want to create, or life gets in the way or something bad happens, have posts in your drafts ready to post for those days. When you’re feeling most motivated, try to create as many posts as physically possible, just get a pot of coffee, keep writing until you can’t physically write any more. That is what I normally do, and it works absolute wonders for me!

I have lots from various different topics, but it really helps when I’m not feeling like writing.

Go For A Walk

This one sounds so simple, but going for a walk can really help. It breaks your routine up, it gets you out and about, around people. It can inspire you to write, gives your brain a little refresh and it definitely makes me feel more motivated to post. At the end of the day what you need to remember is inspiration is all around you, in the music you listen to and in the conversations you have.

I’m super lucky that in my local area we have nature walks all around us, so I have the opportunity to get out into nature and it’s probably the best feeling, especially if I’ve been on my computer all day.

Read All The Blog Posts

I still love a good blog post, I think there is power in a blog post and not just posting on Instagram (FYI there is absolutely nothing wrong with that) but I sill believe in the power of a blog post. I see all the IG AD’s but being able to read a blog post, it lasts a lot longer and I’m pretty sure more people see my blog posts than they do my Instagram.

Blog posts last the test of time and they always have so much more info in them, so read your favourite bloggers, RT your favourite bloggers and appreciate people’s hard work. The way other people write can just get you thinking and inspire you to create.

What motivates you when you’re trying to blog? Let me know in the comments!

For me, it’s all about planning.
Last year I didn’t do well on my blog, in fact I did terrible, and the simple reason is that I didn’t plan. So this year I’ve planned. A lot. In fact I have planned so I have at least one blog post ready for every week. That way I’m never going to ignore my blog even if life gets busy.

Thanks for another great post 🙂

I’m such a believer in taking time away when you’re not inspired. Don’t feel the pressure to post for the sake of it, nobody wants to read something just for because its upload day.

Creating a backlog of posts is a really good idea and definitely one i want to start, as i still tend to write a post then publish straight away! It will also be ideal for me when i have times my blood sugars aren’t so good 🙂

Ps: i’m with you on the IG ads… i use my instagram a lot more like a micro-blog now and i realise it’s not the most “scroll friendly”, but it has created engagement and that’s far more important thant likes!

This were some amazing tips. I’ve been feeling down for the past month and I’ve been neglecting my blog. But I’m ready to start putting into action some of your tips. I especially loved the one about having a back up of drafted posts, ready to publish on those days I don’t feel motivated & inspired. I will for sure start doing this, that way I don’t go weeks without posting and I don’t feel terrible.

I think I end up in a bit of a cycle – if I’m in a real reading buzz, it means I’m writing more reviews, which gets me in the blogging mood, which gets me in the reading mood, aha! But when it comes to content other than reviews, I’m not entirely sure what works for me to inspire me, especially if I’m struggling to think of ideas. I love these tips though – definitely agree about inspirational people. Another great post!

Such good advice, I had a slow start to 2019 and now back in blogging mode and more motivated than ever x

  • These are all such good ideas. I found myself in a situation this morning where I was motivated to blog, but I didn’t know what I wanted to write about. I knew I didn’t want to write what I’d planned to post, so I was kind of stuck. It’s on occasions like these that I really wish I’d started planning posts and scheduling them in advance. I was supposed to create a backlog of posts over Christmas, but I only took nine days off and got ill the day I stopped working, so I spent most of my time off recuperating! Something I did this morning, though, was read through the blogs of people I’ve followed (and enjoyed) for a long time, which really helped. Like you said, they have so much information in them that they can really spark ideas for new blog posts!

I totally agree with you about how it can be hard to stay motivated. It is up to us to keep the ball rolling however we can. YESS about surrounding ourselves with inspiring people. • Boxnip says:

I’ve been feeling less than motivated to write blog posts too at the moment. I had a really bad down day a few days ago, and I was just totally despondent. I don’t have too many days like that, thanks to the meds I take but when they happen, it’s rough. I get inspired mostly at night, or whilst I am trying to fall to sleep and have all these thoughts racing around my head. It’s at that point I could get up and write a blog post but I’ll be buggered if I am getting up at 3 or 4 a.m to do a blog post. I should, however, write down the ideas as by morning, I usually can’t remember a thing! 🙂

Great tips Amie, I especially love how you have a backlog of posts. This is something I need to do more of and was very successful at our my Christmas break from work. I got so many blogs written, photos taken and posts scheduled over that time.

  • I have always had problems with staying and finding motivation. This month, I decided to work really hard for my blog and try as much as I can to keep the blogposts coming and so far, my traffic is increasing and I am so happy! I will definitely try out these your tips☺️ I need as much motivation as I can get. Thank you for sharing ❤️

  • Yes I agree!! Inspiration is everywhere you just need to look for it 😊😎
When I am lacking motivation I just step away & try not to force myself to write – instead I go and meet friends, get outside, support my friends on Instagram….sometimes I then feel the urge to write and something wonderful comes out of it! 💐☀ xo
