I Just Need Some Time To Switch Off

We all need time to just switch off and lately I have felt beyond frazzled, not only that I’m the person that is definitely spreads myself too thin. From trying to be online, to everything at home I’m definitely super frazzled and finding the time to just be me and to just chill out has been tough. I’ve always been the kind of person that would over burden myself and then all of a sudden you would find me stressed, knackered and needing the worlds longest nap. The problem is, is when I do switch off, I don’t completely switch off.

Looking back though, I’ve always been online, even when I was a teenager – I mean Bebo & MSN messenger? My life pretty much revolved around them. They were the absolute best to be quite honest. Anyone ever think it was simpler back then? The problem is, social media is so easy to access now, back then we pretty much had to log onto the computer, now all we have to do is unlock our phones.

Lately in terms of blogging I have been kind of distant, not because I have fallen out of love with blogging but because I’ve just had other priorities. I haven’t posted on Twitter as much as normal and not only that Instagram – as much as I love it, I just haven’t been posting. I need a break from it all.

When I wake up in the morning the first thing that I do is reach for my phone and go through my notifications. I mean it is just so easy to log onto now. Have you ever noticed the amount of hours that we waste a week just scrolling through social media? Just having a read at what people are doing, if they’re having a moan? Imagine what we could have been doing?

Anyway I’ve kind of avoided what I was actually talking about.

I literally just need some time to switch off, to just take a deep breath and just be away from my phone. Not relying on it 24/7 to know what everyone is up to, to just be me.

I used to love being able to switch off, get into a good book or even just play Sims for a while.

I don’t remember the last time I just did nothing with my phone and just took time away. It’s exhausting on so many levels.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve met some of my closest friends through social media, but I think social media and I need to have a time out. I’ll say this and I probably won’t do it, but I feel like for my own personal wellbeing I need it. Even just for an evening. That would suit me down to the ground!

I’m addicted to social media and the internet but I think sometimes we all need to just switch off and be more in the moment. Worrying less about posting that gorgeous photo on social media, and about making memories with my family. I need balance. I need to find that with social media.

Do you relate? Let me know in the comments!

It’s perfectly reasonable to want a break, lovely! It’s very easy to become reliant on social media and the internet. It has happened to me before, and I imagine it will happen again. It’s so important to take some time for yourself, to reset and focus on other things.

You are missed but do what you need to do. 🙂

I feel the same way. I am so used to having my phone on me that I feel kind of naked when I leave it home, and I hate it.
Recently, I am trying to use it less because I need to decompress as well.

I’m the same my darling, I just need to learn to switch off without it and be away from it a little more often! xxxx

  • I relate so much to what you have said babe. I dropped and shattered my mobile phone yesterday and I feel so free from it, I am for sure going to be removing some social media apps from it when I get it fixed. Switching off from life for a little while is always the best way to come back refreshed and full of new ideas, I’m sending you so much love beautiful. 🌸✨

It’s so easy to create a life around social media, but it has to the other way around. I really believe that breaks are necessary once in a while.

I 100% relate to this. Social media is my weakness in the morning, I hope I can break loose soon and not look at it first thing.

I have moved my phone away from my bedside cabinet so I don’t automatically go for it every morning! xxxx

  • I definitely relate. I blogged everyday in March and I was absolutely fried come the 1st June. I’ve taken more than a week off now and I feel so much better and ready to give back in.

I agree that sometimes switching off is the best option and it can feel really refreshing! I think it’s necessary to do sometimes. I turned on the old family computer the other day and MSN popped up and I forgot it even existed for a while until then!
