How are we almost in the middle of May. What the hell is going on? I’m pretty sure I just blinked and it was May. It’s been such a busy month, if you’re reading this and it is like July I’m sorry. I feel like I’ve learned so much over the last few months, I’ve had a few wake up calls, I feel like I’ve kind of grown as a person. Corny I know, but it is true on so many levels.
Life is literally filled with ups and downs, and you learn as you go! So what have I learned?
Don’t be a plonker and ignore self care
Yep, the person who practically blogs about self care all of the time didn’t take her own advice. Yep I’m that plonker. Not so long ago, back in January if I remember rightly, my mental health was literally at rock bottom. After Christmas I had had such a busy time, I hadn’t stopped, going around all of my family, having literally the best time, I didn’t have any time to myself. I was literally emotionally drained. I was exhausted. That was nothing against my family, I mean they’re all absolute sweethearts and I love them so much, but I was knackered by it all.
Be unapologetically you
If you saw my post the other day about body shamers you will know it has been a rough few weeks. If you haven’t seen it, then you can read that post here. If there is one thing I have learned it’s that you should always be you, don’t let anyone try to change you, influence you to be something you’re not, you’re fabulous just the way you are, you don’t need to change because you’re bloody fabulous!
Breaks are important
Social media has been all consuming lately, I love social media don’t get me wrong, it’s just not physically possible to be online all of the time. I’ve bee scheduling my tweets and just taking some time and not getting too worried about tweeting. I feel like it has really helped me if I’m honest. I feel refreshed, I’m enjoying social media a lot more and just appreciating it a lot more, not just because I can promote my blog but also because I have friends that I can stay in contact with through it!
Stop worrying about what others think
Following on from the body shamers post, I’m always the kind of person that worries what people think of me, I mean I’m never going to worry about what other people think again, but I’ve been trying my best since that incident to stop letting them consume me. It’s bloody draining and completely unnecessary. Life is to be lived and I want to live my life the way I want to. If it doesn’t please someone, well I’m pretty sure that isn’t my problem – is it?
Make the effort with the right people
If there is one thing I’ve learned it’s that you should always make the effort with the right people. There are some people that come into your life for a reason, some come in and you just grow apart, others on the other had give you a massive lesson that you didn’t realise you actually needed. I feel like lately I’ve honestly been realising who I really do want in my life, who means a lot to me and the people who are worth making time for. It does seem cruel but I think when you are the one always making the effort, it gets to the point where it’s like nope.
Have you learned anything in the last few months? Let me know in the comments!

Like what you’ve read? How about we become social media friends?

Aww, loved reading this! I can’t believe it’s May, though. I feel like so much has happened this year already and we are only five months in.
I agree with you about social media. I make a point of scheduling plenty of tweets over the weekend so I can focus on spending time with my boyfriend. Plus, when you’ve got all the kind of promo/general tweets scheduled, you can focus more on interacting on there when you do log on.
Definitely keep being you, Amie! You’re great. 🙂

I know what you mean, honestly where has the year gone? Scheduling tweets is an absolute pain in the arse but it is so worth it in the long term! xxx
I did a similar post to this in my “quarterly round up” cos I’ve found that this year has really graced us with so many lessons! I just feel like I’m paying so much more attention to what is happening to me and what I can learn from it this year more than any other. These are all great points 🙂 xxx
I totally know what you mean, I’ve learned so much this year already. I’m definitely excited to see what the rest of the year brings! xxxx
Worrying about what other people think of me/how I look or what I do is something I need to work on! x

It’s a constant struggle with worrying what others think but I think the more I do what I want the happier I will be! xxxx
1 and 4 really hit me, i do need to stop worrying about what others think, but its just so bloody hard.
It is really hard, I totally get that, but small steps and taking it one day at a time because you deserve to be ridiculously happy angel! xxxx
This is such a lovely post! I really enjoyed reading that, and totally agree that self care is SO important. It’s impossible to be there for others if you’re exhausted yourself xx
Sincerely, Sarah xx

it is ridiculously important and I think because it is that important I end up neglecting it! xxxx
This is wonderful! Self-care is a huge factor when it comes to improving your overall life. I am in desperate need of some self-care today. Today, it’s blogging, a Christmas candle, and some hot chocolate while it rains.
That sounds absolutely perfect, I love a good hot chocolate, but it has been so hot in the UK it’s been more ice cold drinks than hot! xxxx
I can’t believe you’ve only been blogging that long. I loved your post & even though I’ve only recently discovered your blog I love it!
Yep I’ve been blogging 3 years now and it’s been an amazing journey! Thank you so much angel, it means the world to me! xxxx
I love this post. I think making effort with the right people is something I have definitely learned this year so far. I would always say iv’e learned to be more independent and to be strong when needed xx

Being strong and independent is an important one! I have definitely learned that making the effort with the right people is so important because you don’t want to waste your time on someone who doesn’t make you smile! xxxx
i am forever worried about what people think, I dont know why but i wish i could read peoples minds haha
I always wonder if that would be a good thing, but if you could read their minds, would you be worried about what they have said? xxxx
Yes girl! This is such a wonderful post with great advice. I really need to focus on self care a bit more, also as someone who preaches it on my blog haha. I really can’t believe we’re nearly halfway through the year, what happened?! Lovely post 🙂

I know, where is the year going?!?! I feel like it is going way too quickly xxxx
Love that the first thing you wrote is self care!! Definitely needs to be talked about more as so many people don’t realise how important it is to take care of you first x
It is so important and even though I talk about it a lot I always end up forgetting how important it is! xxx
This is so true! I think taking breaks and self care are things I need to work on!
It is so important to take breaks and practice self care, gotta look after ourselves lovely! xxxx
Breaks are so important, and so is self care x
I totally agree my lovely! I think we all need a break sometimes! xxxx
As I’m getting older, I’m caring less about what others think – if you don’t like it, lump it. They’re not worth my time knowing really, and now I wonder why I worried so much at school. Young girls now will feel exactly the same as I do when they get older and think their schoolfriends are all they have, because they’re not at all.

That is honestly such an amazing way to be I think I need to learn to be like that more! xxxx
Nodding my head along to all of these! Breaks are so vital for our wellbeing.

I totally agree, we all need to do what is best for us at the end of the day! xxxx
