Reading has really been such an outlet for me, ever since I was little, so carrying it into my adult life is something that truly makes me happy. I’ve read some incredible books in 2021, and in this post, I’m sharing my favourite books of 2021. I found some incredible books in 2021, and I feel like these books should be shared by absolutely everyone.
Malibu Rising
I don’t think I’ve ever read a book quite as quickly as I did Malibu Rising. Everyone was talking about this book, and I thought I’ll buy it. It really was one of the best decisions I made. The book follows 4 famous siblings, throwing a party to celebrate summer ending. They’re the children of legendary singer Mick Riva, making people from all over the world curious about them.
It shows what goes on with all 4 siblings and how everything can change in 24 hours. It’s an emotional book with many ups and downs, but I absolutely love Taylor Jenkin-Reid’s writing style. I fell in love with Nina who is one of the main characters, she is truly such a strong woman.
One Small Mistake
If you’re looking for a book to keep you on the edge of your seat, then this is the book you need to read. Elodie Fray wants to be more like her sister Ava, the daughter her parents seem to favour. However, this leads her down a difficult and dangerous path. Elodie is being stalked, and she ends up making a mistake that allows the plot to take a sinister turn with Elodie faking her own kidnapping to write a book.
This book truly does show how complex family relationships are.
The Couple At No 9
I absolutely love Claire Douglas as a writer, and this book was another unputdownable book. Saffron Cutler and partner Tom are given 9 Skelton Place by Saffron’s mother Lorna as she lives in Spain. As they begin renovations, builders uncover an unexpected surprise. 2 bodies.
The story goes back and forth over the years to try and discover what happened to the 2 bodies. This book is such a page turner, you will absolutely love this book.
The Accident
Sue Jackson has the perfect family, a husband and a beautiful daughter. But the moment her daughter steps in front of a bus and is in a coma she is forced to retrace her daughters steps. Sue’s husband Brian, thinks that it is just an accident, but Sue thinks there is a darker reason.
To find the answers she needs, she finds her daughter’s diary with the words “Keeping this secret is killing me.” Will Sue be able to find the truth? It really is a fast paced book and is a book you can’t put down.
Small Pleasures
Jean Swinney writes for a local paper, she hasn’t found true love yet, and is still living with her mum. Gretchen Tilbury writes to Jean’s newspaper and says that her daughter Margaret is the result of a virgin birth. It is down to Jean to find out whether Gretchen is telling the truth.
She follows up by becoming closers with the entire family, and it becomes a journey of unexpected friendship, but also love. The book is emotional and has a truly heart-breaking end in my opinion, but it is such a beautifully written book, I think you would absolutely love this book.
Read a mini review of other books

Thank you for the recommendations! These titles aren’t in my usual genre, so I may try one for a change of pace!
I enjoyed Malibu Rising quite a lot as well. Not as much as TJR’s other books that I’ve read, but it was still really good! 🙂 I haven’t read of the others and I’ve only heard of one of the titles, so I’ll have to check them out!
I really want to read more this year so I’ll definitely be coming back to this post for some of these!

Fab selections here! I’ve heard so many good things about Malibu Rising but still somehow haven’t gotten around to it, so I’ll have to read it this year! Thanks for sharing some great recommendations x
Really want to read Malibu Rising, but Im waiting for the paperback to be released. Can’t wait to read it x
The Therapist is on my TBR list for this year – I posted a template thing and got 12 friends to suggest 12 books for this year. Thursday Murder Club is on my list too as it seems like something I would like to read. The Couple At No 9 sounds like my kind of thing too. I read a lot by Kathy Reichs and Tess Gerritsen (Bones was based on Kathy’s novels and Rizzoli and Isles was based on Tess Gerritsen’s books)
These all sound so great! I love it when you find a book you can’t stop reading! One Small Mistake sounds right up my street!

These sound amazing. You’ve actually reminded me about the accident. I started reading it a while ago, but u got distracted and before I knew it a month has passed. I really need to pick it back up again because I was really enjoying it. I also really like the sound of one small mistake. That one sounds really up my street.
