Books have been an important outlet for many of us over the last year. However there are 5 books that are on my current to be read list for a reason and I think everyone needs them on their list! Now the weather is getting colder, I’m ready to get cosy with my blankets, jumpers and a good book.
What books should you add to your to read list?
Sally Rooney – Beautiful World, Where Are You
Alice is a novelist who meet Felix working in a warehouse and asks if he would like to travel to Rome with her. Her best friend Eileen, in Dublin is getting over a break up and begins flirting with Simon someone she has known since she was a child.
Will they find a way to believe in a beautiful world?
B.A Paris – The Therapist
I’ve read pretty much all of B.A Paris’ books, so as soon as I saw this in Waterstones, I had to pick it up!
When Alice and Leo move into a newly renovated house in an exclusive gate community, it is everything they’ve dreamed of. While Alice is getting to know her neighbours, she discovers a devastating secret about her new home, and begins to feel a connection towards the therapist who used to live in the house.
She soon realises her neighbours are keeping secrets, and nothing is as it seems.
Richard Osman – The Thursday Murder Club
I’ve seen everyone talking about this book, and one of my colleagues at work has also been reading it.
In a retirement village, 4 unlikely friends meet up to investigate unsolved murders. A brutal killing happens on their doorstep, they find themselves in the middle of the case. Will they be able to solve the case and catch the killer or will it be too late?
Clare Chambers – Small Pleasures
I saw Alice Spake from Alice Anne talking about this book and honestly it sounded right up my street. I bought it as soon as I saw Alice mention it, she has never steered me wrong when it comes to book recommendations.
Jean is a journalist at a local paper, and one day Gretchen Tilbury contacts the paper to claim her daughter is the result of a virgin birth. It becomes Jeans job to discover whether she is a miracle or a fraud. The entire investigation turns her life upside and and gives her a chance at friendship, love and happiness.
Taylor Jenkins Reid – One True Loves
I love all of Taylor Jenkins Reid books, I’ve just finished Malibu Rising and it is honestly one of the best books ever. So it was only natural that I would get this book too!
Emma Blair marries her school sweetheart Jesse and build a life together away from their parents hometown. They travel the world and live their best life and chase ever adventure.
On their 1st wedding anniversary Jesse goes missing in a helicopter over the Pacific. Emma quits her job, moves home to try and put her life back together. Emma ends up running into an old friend and finds herself falling in love, but after all this time, Jesse is found alive. Who is Emma’s one true love?

These all sound like great reads, I especially like the sound of the Thursday murder club xx
I absolutely love Sally Rooney – her new book is at the top of my reading list for Autumn too! I’m currently reading Moby Dick but it is quite a tough read!

You’ve got some fantastic books here. I have heard a lot about Richard Osman and I would really love to read the Thursday murder club. Thank you for sharing x
I have to say I’ve not read any of these- but I’ve heard good things about some of them 🙂 I hope you enjoy x
I love Taylor Jenkins Reid and B.A. Paris’ books but not a fan of Sally Rooney’s writing style. I hope you enjoy all of these books! Thanks for sharing.
Hi Amie,
That looks like a good list. My wife very much enjoyed The Thursday Murder Club – so much so that she has just finished the follow-up book! And it suggests that there will be a third. More to add to your list, perhaps? 😉
BA Paris’ Behind Closed Doors is by far one of the better thrillers I’ve read, and I can’t believe I’ve not read some of her other ones, will add this to my list. I’ll be interested to see what you think of Thursday murder club, some real mixed reviews out there! x

This sounds like a lovely collection of books to read. I have not heard of any of them, but so many people commented about The Thursday Murder Club that I will have to check it out.
These all sound like very interesting books! I need to read The Thursday Murder Club, it sounds very interesting!
My mum loved The Thursday Murder Club! Sally’s new book is on my TBR list too 🙂
Good TBR list! All the best to you. The last book on your list sounds like my kinda read. Thank you for sharing.
Ahh I nearly picked up The Therapist the other day and decided against it at the last minute (not because I didn’t want the book, but because I really shouldn’t be buying more books). Will probably be changing my mind on that one. I’ve been hearing a lot about the Richard Osmond book though, would like to give that a go. Happy reading!
I really like the variety of books you’ve shared here and I think I’ll have to check them out as I need my book list to be updated and refreshed a bit as I tend to read the same types of stories and genres so this was so useful!
I am going to have to check some of these out!
