The Ultimate Wind Down Routine For Your Sunday

Sunday’s are definitely my least favourite day of the week, I love having a lay in and not waking up to my alarm, even though I love my job, I hate my alarm so much. Lately I’ve had an amazing routine in place that helps me relax and not only that it works wonders for my anxiety. I’ve managed to put an amazing routine in place that helps me to have the ultimate relaxation session to prepare for a super busy week at work. So what are my favourite ways to wind down?

Cosy Clothes

I spend my life in cosy clothes, but on a Sunday you’re likely to find me curled up in my cat PJ’s and large fluffy socks. There is nothing I love more than being ridiculously comfortable and forgetting about the world. You’ll also find me in my super comfy hoody so if you want me to do anything on a Sunday, don’t expect me to be wearing jeans…

Reading

I’ve mentioned over the last few months, I’ve managed to get back into my reading, and already this year I have read 8 books. You can follow me on Goodreads to find out what I’ve been reading! I really love reading thrillers and books that have a lot of suspense, but I’ve found so many amazing books lately that I’ve loved reading so much, my favourite has been Silent Victim, it was so good, I would definitely recommend it.

Candles

I have lavender candles everywhere and honestly I find them so soothing, they calm me down and relax me, especially when I’m trying to fall asleep. I always struggle to sleep because I am such a light sleeper and a bit of an overthinker, but the candles really do help, I start to burn them about an hour before bed, and then blow them out before I go to sleep. The scent has already filled the room and it makes it super cosy.

Sleep Sprays

If you’re not a fan of candles, I also really like sleep sprays, I’ve tried multiples, but I really like Feather & Down sleep spray, it isn’t overpowering and it a really nice spray that lasts for ages. It is always my go to spray when I’ve run out of my candles, it is also really refreshing for me too!

Skincare Routines

I’ve been so on my skincare routine lately that I am really noticing a massive difference in my skin, especially when I apply make up. My skin feels happier, it isn’t as dry as it used to be and my break outs are less angry than they used to be. I’ve talked about so many skincare products lately, you will know my favourites, what my go to products are for my skin type. A good skincare routine is always amazing.

Netflix

My obsession with Netflix is at an all time high, I’ve got so many shows I want to watch that have basically been on my list for so long and yet I still manage to go back to Friends, Pretty Little Liars and Gossip Girl because they are just so easy for me to watch while I get ready for work. Having a routine where you just relax, watch lots of amazing programmes and just chill is amazing, and that is one of the things I love about Netflix, you can just get so caught up in the programmes and if you’re feeling stressed you can literally feel like you’re elsewhere.

How have you managed to read 8 books already?? Very impressive! Other things that help me relax on a Sunday is feeling that I have my life together for when Monday comes. That means: laundry, meal prepping, outfit planning… It might sound a bit boring, but I feel quite accomplished by the end of the day, which makes it easier to unwind.

I like to spend my Sunday morning and a little of the afternoon. Once 3pm hits though, it’s time for comfy PJs, hot chocolate and Netflix. I find that it mentally prepares me for the week ahead. ♡ Great post!

  • I definitely need to start dedicating Sunday to a wind down day! x

  • Carolyn says:

This is the perfect Sunday routine. I try to use Sundays to wind down with Netflix, face masks, and comfort foods. Lately I’ve been so busy I’ve had to work on Sundays (boo), but those days where I can sleep in and lounge around in my comfy clothes: perfection!

These are great ideas for winding down on a Sunday! I love to do my planning for the week also! But that is therapeutic for me haha! Thank you for sharing!

  • I shall implement these suggestions today!

  • I just looked up ‘Silent Victim’ on Goodreads and it looks so good! I’ve added it to my ‘want to read’ list. I’m amazed that you’ve managed to read 8 books already and still have time to watch netflix shows and do all those other things!

I think I am the same as you; a love-hate relationship with Sundays. I love that is it a relaxing day (usually) off work but then get the dreaded Sunday night work blues.

I think lighting candles, having a bath and a bit of a pamper is the perfect wind-down routine for a Sunday.
    Thanks for sharing yours!

That sounds exactly how I like to spend my Sunday evenings before work too! I love all things cozy and Netflix binging on The Office too!

  • I love a lazy Sunday starting the day with a very slow cup of coffee, taking the dog for a longer walk and getting cosy with a book in the afternoon. It’s what Sundays are made for! x

Relaxing is all about cosy clothes, easy but tasty meals, and perhaps a cup of hot tea with a book. I have been reading Hercule Poirot’s Christmas by Agatha Christie; a delicious murder. And, it may seem strange to say, but the text of the book is deeply pleasing to me.
Maybe Netflix is in store for my evening!

I love reading and candles they definitely help me relax. I’ve taken to journaling 5 times per week and Sunday is my favorite day to just write it all out. I’ll have to try the comfy clothes and just relax. Thank you for these tips.

Ooh, this was such a cozy post to read on a Sunday night! Netflix and reading are my go to, but I also like commenting on blogs, since that’s usually when I have the most down time. It’s so nice to read other people’s blogs and hear their stories. It gives me some motivation to keep writing my own sometimes!

    Lovely post! xoxo

Awesome post, lovely!! I’m the same that anxiety hits on a Sunday, which is silly because I like my job. I’m also pretty bad at trying to use Sunday to storm through a load of jobs instead of relaxing and gathering energy, so I definitely need to try out some of these.

I have not considered sleep sprays! I love candles as well, but have been waiting until I finish cleaning up my home before stocking up with some more scents I personally chose and not just ones gifted to me.
I also have an oil diffuser but a candle has that certain something. I love the faint smell of the flame. With cats around, though, scented candles are not something I can nap with.
Sleep sprays just sound like that perfect in between.

Just started following you on goodreads as well. 🙂

Love this! I often work on Sundays but I always try to find time during the week to chill out at home. Many candles will be lit, a bath might be enjoyed and I’ll stay in pjs all day long.
