The online world is probably one of the most confusing places in the world, it can be somewhere you can talk, vent, have a good old chat and it can also be somewhere that at times can be quite toxic. Not the people you surround yourself, but just in general if I’m completely honest. My blogging friends though have become some of my best friends – and I will always be so grateful for them.
If it wasn’t for things like the internet, I know that I would never have met these amazing people and that really does break my heart for various reasons. I’ve been blogging for almost 4 years now, and probably had some sort of online presence since I was about 13, whether it was the days of Bebo (forever changing my Bebo profile skin so something super soppy with a quote of some kind) or having all my friends in my status on MSN, I mean it’s been forever.
When I started blogging though, little did I know that I would meet all of these amazing people who have genuinely bought such joy into my life and changed the way I think about things and even calmed me down when I feel like the world is caving in on me. As we get older friendships can be hard to juggle with life, trying to get enough sleep, spend time with my husband and genuinely be a fully functioning human being. When one of us needs someone, we always drop them a message no matter what, if they need us, need a rant, we always talk and it’s like we picked up where we left off. No pressure, no resentment for not talking, just good friends.
These are the kinds of friends we all need in our lives if I’m honest.
Blogging friends are also the ones that genuinely make me feel like I’m not failing at blogging. I mean if you saw my post the other day, you will have seen that I was pretty much having a meltdown about my blog, where I was going and whether or not I was good enough to make a difference. Also if you didn’t see my Instagram Stories the other week where I basically cried my way through, there were so many amazing people who sent me some amazing messages and made cry happy tears. The people around me are the reason I have decided to write this post in the first place.
They are the reason that I still continue to keep going, the reason that I haven’t give up something I love just yet and why I’m going to try my best to continue to do my thing – because that is what I love more than anything.
Having friends who do the same thing as you can be ridiculously helpful, because they genuinely understand your struggles – for example, when you’re literally struggling with a photo, it looks okay but you’re not in love with it, they can give you advice, they can support you with the whole editing process and just be a genuinely good egg.
I’ve always said that blogging is harder than it looks and I will probably continue to say it, but when you have these amazing people around you, you literally feel like you can take on the world.
The reason my blogging friends have become some of my best friends is because I can rely on them, not that I can’t rely on my friends that I have in real life but we all have different experiences, my blogging friends can understand when I struggle with Instagram or the Pipdig scandal, not that my other friends wouldn’t but my blogging friends always come to my aid when I need help! That is the beauty of blogging.
There are so many amazing people in the blogging community, but I have to say I follow some of the most incredibly genuine, kind and supportive people in the industry!
“Surround yourself with people who make you happy. People who make you laugh, who help you when you’re in need. People who genuinely care. They are the ones worth keeping in your life. Everyone else is just passing through.” – Karl Marx

Beautiful read! I feel the same way, I’ve learned so much since I started reaching out to other bloggers and I no longer feel alone!
A lovely post, I definitely know what you mean here. It’s crazy how much they all become friends. They’re always there for you, whether that’s a quick chat or when you need someone to lean on. The people I’ve made friends with through blogging, they’re all great and I don’t know where I would be without them.

I love this post! The blogging community is my fave 🙂 Some of the people I’ve met through events has been amazing, and even some people I’ve never met are absolutely wonderful (incl. you!) <3

I couldn’t agree more – some of my most solid friendships are those formed through blogging. You are one of the most genuine people within this community Amie! 🙂
The blogging community if you find the right corner of it is so supportive of each other! I also convince myself bloggers who I’ve never messaged outside of comments are my friends haha!
I have been inspired by my blogging friends. I met a lot on social media as I live in Japan and a lot of bloggers live in the Western world. I am inspired but also I love their interaction!
Oh sweetheart, this blog post makes me so happy. I agree with everything you said and giggled at the Bebo part of it, however, for me personally it was MySpace. Blogging friends are some of the best people ever! I’m sending you all of the love in the world beautiful! 🌸💜

I love this! I had my first offline conversation about blogging just the other day after three years and it felt amazing to not feel like I was being humoured as people just switch off from what I’m trying to to tell them. Having people who understand what you’re talking about, especially when it is something so important to you, is such an empowering thing. I’m so glad you’ve got people you know you can count on – I hope you never stop blogging! (Unless, it’s what’s best for you but you know what I mean!)
Such a great post and a reminder that the blogging community wouldn’t be what it is without the amazing people in it – it’s so lovely to hear you’ve made such close friendships through your blog and how it has changed your life for the better. Nothing better than good friendships in life to see you through any rough patches. Thanks for sharing + sending you lots of love xo
Bless you – I didn’t see your Insta story but I did read the post you mention – I really hope you’re feeling a bit more secure now. And I agree – the blogging community is absolutely lovely. Really, genuinely lovely ❤
(Also, Bebo was great, wasn’t it? My backgrounds were always as emo as possible.)
This was a lovely post to read. I didn’t realise before I started blogging how lovely the community would be, everyone’s very supportive and it’s so true that you can find some really great friends from blogging! Great post x
Am really enjoying the blogging community right now been blogging for over 2 years now and I have met some supportive people so far
Blogging friends are so important! I don’t really have any real life friends anymore due to various things so the connections I have with the wonderful women I’ve met through blogging are really special to me x

This was such a lovely read. It’s so nice when online friends become real friends. It’s true as well that blogging friends just ‘get’ certain things that real life friends maybe wouldn’t. I love that you’ve found such a supportive crowd x

This was so lovely to read. I don’t have any friends IRL and especially since becoming housebound, I don’t see anybody but my family. I am somewhat of a loner though and have always enjoyed my own space but there are definitely times when I miss having friends to just let off some steam with and well, just have some fun with. I think it’s absolutely great when you just click with someone from the blogging community and that you can totally know they are going to relate to the same things you do. 😀

I have gotten to know some of my blogging companions without having met them in real life and they feel real-er to me than some of my in real life friends! They don’t take their place, of course, but there is a special kind of connection we share with people whom we blog with. I love all of it. 🙂
