Blogging is something that I have loved to do for over 4 and a half years, and I’ve got to be honest it has been one hell of a journey. There have been so many ups and downs you would genuinely think I was referencing a Ronan Keating song. The thing is though, it has been the best journey ever. I’ve met some of the best people, worked with some incredible brands and got to share so many amazing things online, I feel lie my blog has been one of the things that has helped me grow as a person. But am I enough in the blogging world?
Everyone knows that there are lots of bloggers, whether you are an influencer, you only post on Instagram, or you do YouTube videos, there are lots of us. Some manage to make a lot of money from this which is amazing, other’s enjoy it as a hobby, for some it can be a side income, either way blogging is an amazing adventure for people.
Lately however, because I genuinely haven’t had much time to be able to devote to my blog, my Instagram or basically any social media platform, I don’t feel like I am enough.
I am not enough of a supporter of people within the blogging world.
I am not posting as much as I used to – blog wise, social media wise, I mean it has basically fallen to the side because life has got in the way.
I love my blog so much, it has been one of the greatest things to ever happen to me, but is what I post online ever going to be enough?
In a world where there are so many ridiculously talented bloggers out there, who take the most beautiful photos and seem to have a never ending idea of where they want to go with their blog, here is little old me, still after 4 and a half years flying by the seat of my underwear and hoping to be enough for the online world.
Even though Instagram isn’t as instant as it used to be, we can get an instant reaction from the things we post, whether it is a blog post, a tweet, something on our Facebook page, I mean you will know if it is something people actually like and want to read straight away.
Lately I haven’t been feeling that if I am honest. There have been so many questions going through my head like:
- Will my content ever be good enough?
- Will my photos be good enough?
- Will be a ever be a good enough supporter of the blogging community?
- Will I ever have enough followers?
- Will I ever stop being my own biggest critic?
Some of those, I’m genuinely not expecting miracles from if I am totally honest. I will probably never stop criticising myself, my content or my hard work because that is just the kind of person I am, I am always expecting more from myself, expecting better, to be stronger and to work harder.
I am learning to step back from all of that expectation, from all of that worry about if I am going to be good enough and to stop worrying about the amount of views I am getting on my posts.
I want to get back to the time when I loved to post on my blog, my social media, my Instagram because it was fun, because I had so much to say, not worrying about the acceptance of others.
I will always be enough for the people around me who appreciate what I have to offer, and the people who love what I post and that is what matters.

Like what you’ve read? How about we become social media friends?

I can completely relate to this I most certainly don’t post as much as I used too and I don’t put as many hours into social media as I like having time to do other things! Thanks for sharing x

Aw, Amie, you are a lovely writer, a talented photographer, and super supportive of other bloggers. I do know what you mean about missing blogging for the fun of it rather than the treadmill, but perhaps if you took a break you might find that fun element comes back again? I did this recently, and it took all the pressure off me, I’m enjoying posting what I want when I want and that’s really all that matters! Good luck, lovely, I hope you get your mojo back soon X

Can definitely relate to this post, sometimes blogging can get a bit too much and we can feel like we’re not good enough. Motivation ebbs and flows and it’s normal to feel like this sometimes.
I’m sure a lot of people will relate to this post! I think as long as you are enjoying it, and producing content to the standard you are then that’s all you can hope for! Great post xx

Totally relate!!! Having high expectations of ourselves can be a good yet bad thing – we just need to find the balance!

I love the ending of this – yes, what matters is that you are enough to the people around you <3
Blogging sure is a journey 100% from the moment you publish your first post to wondering if you should continue blogging. I used to feel this way as well, but I think the most important thing is if you’re happy with the content you put out – even if you don’t blog every week, or post an instagram post for a while – then you’re golden. I don’t spend a lot of time on social media as I used to and although I am trying to put more of an effort, it’s a bit like juggling!
Comparing myself to other bloggers from experience made me want to not to blog because it felt like no matter what I did I wouldn’t be as what I perceived as perfect to be based on bloggers around me.
100%! Your ending! What matters is that you are enough to yourself as well as those around you ❤️
So relatable!! I feel like the market is so saturated and the chances of ‘making it’ are getting smaller by the day. But, at the same time, every blogger has something unique to offer and that is what makes them special. Personally, I love your honest blog posts and your flatlay photos always inspire me to work on mine too.

I can totally relate to this and ask myself some of the same questions sometimes. I think your content is great, but I totally get the sense of comparison when there are so many talented people out there. I love that this ended on such a positive note though x

I feel like we all put so much pressure on ourselves as bloggers, I don’t post as often as I did but I have found that the content that I’m actually making is so much better for it! X
This is exactly how I feel too 🙁
This is so relatable! Your blog is beautiful and I too have met so many amazing people through blogging!
You raised so many good points! Blogging in the time of influencers can often be tricky and can be easy to doubt yourself and lose your passion for blogging. I went through that at the end of last year but then decided, I started blogging because I love makeup, fashion and lifestyle and talking about it. Not to gain lots of followers. To me that’s what is most important!

I sometimes feel like that too! I work full time, as a writer, so blogging in my spare time can easily fall by the wayside when I’m tired and can’t bear to do anymore thinking and typing!
Things change though, and you may find yourself with more time and a wave of inspiration to post – you never know what’s around the corner.
Such a relatable post, especially for someone who’s only been doing it for about 8 months, and constantly compares themselves to other people, who have been doing it for a lot longer. The journey is just about growth and understanding you for you, and not anyone else. Such a good post! x

I am so with you. I honestly could have written this myself. I feel like I am flogging a dead horse if I am honest.
I love writing and that is why I started but then you develop a following and its lovely to hear such wonderful comments and feedback on your writing. Suddenly you think that maybe this could go somewhere and then despite all your continued efforts it completely tales off and I am left here now wondering whats it all for.
I had a bit of a moment the other day though where I decided I am going to write for me. I will continue to share and publicise in the way I have been but that I will write what I want to write, in the style I choose without worrying too much about impressing the WWW because my ‘why’ i started is what remains important to me.
Plus I do love the community. I just don’t think I was born to be a writer.
I hope you realise how special you are x
I hear you. There are 500 million bloggers as of 2019 and I’m sure a good percentage of them feel the way you do. I’m a blogger too going through the same questions in my head sometimes. I think as long as we love our content there will be enough people to love them too. Wish you all the luck. Keep on keeping on! xx
Urgh hit me right in the feels why don’t you!
I felt the same then took an unplanned break because Life and I feel better for it. Still a huge amount of impostor syndrome, but meh, I’ll manage.

I’ve been feeling a little like this recently too x
I can totally relate to this post! I’ve been feeling the same way but it’s good to remind ourselves that we can only do our best and it’s about enjoying it more than it feeling like an obligation you know? Maybe taking a little break then returning might give you more inspiration and bring that spark back? Wishing you all the best always lovely x
I came here to say do it for you and no one else, but I see you found it in the end.
Sometimes we all struggle with imposter syndrome, but look past it! You are good enough, what you do is enough – in fact, it’s just right because it reflects where you are in your life. You can only do what you can do – don’t beat yourself up over it.
Your voice is important, don’t give up.
This is so relatable! It’s important to remember that if your content is something you would enjoy reading off someone else’s blog, you’re happy with it and YOU think it’s the best to your ability, then surely it’s good enough? there is no ‘good enough’ in that respect. It will always be good enough as long as you’re putting your all into it x
Unfortunately, the blogging space is so overly saturated with people who are doing it to be “famous” or “get free things.” Having said that, I think it’s normal to compare but remember why you blog and, as long as it makes you happy, that’s all that matters.
You have no idea how relatable your post is…
When they hit me, I try to think about these times as decision times. Sounds fancy, I know, but actually I tell myself that okay, you FEEL down, you FEEL unfit, not enough, you feel like you are not doing your best.
Now, you gotta make a decision: make it through this time of hardship, go forward slower but still forward, or give up.
I know it sounds so easy on paper but when put to practice it’s much much harder. I try to cling to this idea that even if I make one step at a time while everyone seems to be running for it, it is still better than staying put or giving up altogether.
As for acceptance… you said it. Those who appreciate you, will appreciate you always because they do it for who you ARE. Never lose faith in this 🙂 better to have a small circle of trustful friends/followers than a huuuge number of people who don’t even really know you.
Sending lots of love and hugs >:D
I think it is good to always look for ways to improve, but to appreciate your hard work and acknowledge how far you have come. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this. You have a beautiful blog and write some great blog posts! You also leave lovely comments! You are doing great xx
I relate to this post so much, I always ask myself if I’m enough an should I carry on ? But we are all doing this because we enjoy it and have a passion for it. Thankyou for writing it xc
I have thought plenty of times that my content and blog aren’t good enough, I totally understand how you feel! But you are an incredible blogger, your content is always bang on and I hope you get that little bit of motivation back soon! xx

I can relate to this so much! I’ve been blogging on and off for years as a hobby, but wishing it was a job, so I keep thinking, “what am I doing wrong? Am I just wasting my time even if I love doing this so much?” I think it’s normal to feel this way. I think we’re our own worst critics and harshest judges. I personally LOVE your blog and it’s honestly one of those blogs I aspire to be like. I’m still using stock images because my photos suck, so I just think your pics are amazing. Just keep doing it if you love it and take a break if it doesn’t feel fun anymore. Your readers accept you and your blog for your honesty and your content and to us that’s all that matters. And that you’re happy too!

I agree that the industry is now oversaturated with bloggers and youtubers trying to push content. I felt the same way and still sometimes do which harms my productivity as well. But I have come to the conclusion that even though I don’t know if i’ll make big into the blogging world, I blog because it makes me happy. i’m the happiest when I’m creative and making content and that’s enough for me xx
I relate to this post so much! I feel like I’ve been left behind a little. I see new bloggers succeeding & I’m just over here like ahh! I love your blog hun so keep doing you!
Stepping back from the expectations and doing what’s best for you is so important x
I feel like this all the time if I’m honest. My Instagram has been really neglected recently. I’ve only posted 2 Giveaways in probably the last month or more. My followers are dropping like flies lol

You ARE enough, don’t ever doubt that! x
Thanks for this, it is very difficult trying to juggle everything and be very engaged with blog posts and social media engagement. I am only starting out on thus blogging journey and so hope that I will have achieved as much as you have four years later!
http://www.franglais27tales.com
Amie, I identify with this post so much – and judging from the comments so do so many people! I am so glad to have found you and look forward to exploring your blog. I have shared your post on my regular blogshare feature MidweekMagic – Inspiring Blogs for You! Claire x
Thanks for this. I think you’re saying what a lot of us are thinking. I had a blog years ago which literally went nowhere. A few years later I relaunched it and finally put the time and energy into it that it deserved. I’m finally getting somewhere but I always feel the pressure to keep going and improving. I wonder about my content or about my followers. But I also remember that I am finally getting somewhere and I’m doing it because, like you, I enjoy it. I think if I was doing it for fame or fortune it would be a different story.
This is so relatable, and I think many people experience the same feelings from time to time. I’ve only recently come across your blog, so I have no prior comparison, but I think your writing is great, and I love your photos and content.
The most important thing is that you get out of blogging what YOU want. You are and will always be enough!

I love how honest you are Amie! I started my blog about 9 months ago and am so passionate about it just like you. However, like you say it’s so easy to get into that “am i good enough” mindset. Thank you for reminding me that we all have days like that!
