How I’m Giving Myself A Creative Kick Up The Butt

Lately I feel like I’ve been in a bit of a creative slump, Autumn is my favourite time of year but I feel like sometimes with the weather changing, the nights are slowly drawing in, I feel like I’m struggling creatively. I’ve struggled previously with creative slumps but lately I’m feeling really quite meh about being creative. I haven’t really had any drive or motivation to be creative and for someone who absolutely thrives on being creative it is quite a hard thing to deal with.

I think we all go through these moments with our blogging journey or just in life to be honest. We get ourselves in a rut, and it sucks, but it is possible to get yourself out of it, trust me. Sometimes it can be just sheer emotional exhaustion when it comes to being in a creative rut, when it comes to blogging, that is something I have been feeling lately.

I don’t feel inspired, I haven’t been wanting to write so much & not only that I’ve been feeling very meh about my blog in every way possible. When it comes to blogging it is my happy place, my place to just be me and my outlet for all of my thoughts & I just don’t know where I’ve been going.

Instead, I’m taking steps forward to just give myself a creative kick up the butt and get back into blogging like I want to. So what are the things I’m doing to get myself out of a creative rut?

1. Following More Bloggers

I have been on a little following spree lately, I want to follow more people, I feel like different bloggers bring out something different in me, they inspire me to keep blogging and keep going so following new bloggers actually makes me smile so much.

2. Take A Break

Blogging can be such an emotional thing, I put my heart on my sleeve with my blog posts, and sometimes it can literally suck the life out of me. Sometimes I feel like there is nothing else that I can give, but let’s be honest we all need time away. Just to refresh, reset the brain and just get a fresh perspective on things.

3. Give Yourself A Break

Honestly. I’m the kind of person that is quite hard on myself when it comes to blogging, I have to stick to my schedule, I have to have everything planned and if I don’t then I get really stressed, it is all in the planning for me. If you don’t stick to your schedule, it doesn’t matter, you work so hard at your entire blog, missing one day will not make a difference. Do your thing, do what is best for you, I promise you that it isn’t the end of the world. Blogging should be fun.

4. Remember What An Incredible Person You Are

When you’re in a creative rut it can be so hard, and personally for me, I end up putting myself down, which I shouldn’t ever do, but do you know what everyone goes through these ruts! Whether it is writing, life, or anything. I am an incredible person regardless of my creativity, I don’t need to put myself down.

What are some of the things you do when it comes to getting yourself out of a creative rut?

I needed this post, I’ve recently been taking a break from blogging as I needed to concentrate on r/l things and I’ve now found my creativity has disappeared!!

I’ve decided not to beat myself up about it and just enjoy the time off. It means I’ve had loads of time to read more blogs, something I’ve struggled with recently 🙂 xx

I am struggling just like you. This time of year and season changes always seem to get me and I struggle to get out of the slump for ages. I’ve had my break and I’ve even made a little winter creativity plan. Hopefully that all works out!

I hope your spark is back for you soon sweetie, but until then, take care of yourself and don’t over think it ?
