The last few weeks have felt slightly overwhelming if I’m completely honest. There has been so much going on, so many ups and downs that I guess it has given me a reality check on where I need to be and what I need to be doing, and the changes that I need to make for my own wellbeing.
I know that there are always going to be good days and bad days, but when I do have those bad days it makes me appreciate the good days that I have had.
So what changes am I making?
Mistakes Happen – Learn From Them
I’m the worst person when it comes to making mistakes, I will beat myself up about it all of the time and give myself such a hard time because of those mistakes. The important thing is to acknowledge that you made a mistake and try to do what you can to make it right.
It’s human nature to make mistakes and even though I don’t like it, I need to accept that it happens.
Cut Out Toxic People
Lately I’ve had to learn this the hard way, and even though it is very painful it is totally necessary. Sometimes when people treat you like dirt, or that your feelings don’t matter then it’s time to get rid of them out of your life. I am so lucky to have so many amazing people around me that support me when I need it the most and I support them and do what I can to be a good friend in return.
Toxic people who bring so much unhappiness and negativity into your life are genuinely not worth it, surround yourself with the right people.
Take A Break
We all need a break sometimes and I genuinely do. I seem to be always on the go, or always doing something and I just need some time to breathe. Trying to find time to do everything from the blog to working has been really really hard. I’m trying to make sure that I don’t put too much pressure on myself, but it is getting harder and harder to remind myself it is okay to not have posts go out on my blog that week, and it is okay to not be on social media as much. Yet I still feel like the weight of the world is on my shoulders.
Spend More Time Reading Books
I’ve been taking books with me to work lately because it gives me a chance to stay off my computer and to have some quiet time and it genuinely helps my anxiety so much. I feel a lot calmer once I’ve had about 45 minutes to read my book and eat my lunch. I recently posted the books that I’ve loved lately so if you’re looking for a new book, then I’ve got you covered!
The changes I’m making are so important to me for my overall wellbeing and I know they will help me.
What changes are you currently making? Let me know in the comments.

All such good, positive changes to be making. Cutting out toxic relationships is something I’ve never been particularly good at though. I’ve definitely starting trying to switch off a bit more, it can be hard but I realised yesterday I’d barely been on my phone all weekend and I felt so much better for it, so I want to try to make a conscious effort to do that more

Taking a break is one of the major changes I’m doing as of late. Taking a break from social media is apparently great for my sanity and mental health. I used to beat myself if I don’t look as skinny as the person I see on Instagram. I know it’s dramatic but social media sometimes can be so overwhelming, at least for me. So taking a break from and not glued on it so much is definitely the best decision I’ve made.

Cut out anything that doesn’t feed you or better you – that’s what I say! x
Cutting out toxic people is an absolute must. I’ve done that so many times, people who have been all over me one moment then have thrown me away like an old toy when something new and shiny has come along. I refuse to be treated like that any more. 🙂 x

Reading helps me so much – it’s why I tend to read so much each month x

I totally get you with taking breaks. I find it so difficult to just stop for an hour or two without feeling any guilt! Hope you’re feeling better soon! x

I totally agree with cutting out the toxic people. I’ve had to do this many times, and I’m happier for it. Thank you so much for sharing! 🙂
This is such a refreshing list! I totally agree with you about reading more books. I’ve set myself a personal goal of reading 12 books this year (one per month). I’ll definitely check out the books you’ve been reading lately for some new recommendations!

So many important reminders. As a perfectionist, I struggle with not beating myself up over every mistake. The truth is, as humans, we make mistakes every single day and that’s part of growing and learning. Great post! 🙂
These are all really great thing that will help you destress a lot! I can’t wait to have a proper break form everything and go on holiday and just relax, I’ll be checking out your book post because I need a new book to get stuck into! X
I’ve always believed in letting go of things that no longer serve you, grow you or make you happy!
It is so important to cut out people if they don’t make you happy xx
Really love this blog post beautiful. I need to make sure I spend more time reading my books on my read list, I love how positive you are about self-care and self-love. I’m sending you all of my love! 🌸💜

Love this post! Sometimes all it takes is a moment to look back to see what’s made you feel overwhelmed. I’ve come to realise that my saviour is finding ‘me’ time and exercising is a massive help. Danielle x || http://www.missdanielle.com
This was nice to read. I really think more people should be doing these things too.
Thanks for sharing x
It took me a long time to learn about leaving toxic people to their own devices. I worked so hard to try and please the ones in my life but it so wasn’t worth the effort.
I like that you’re hoping to read more too. A good book can be a wonderful mood enhancer 🙂
I really want to read more books this year but I’m failing miserably
Such fabulous and positive changes!

I totally agree with you the good days make you appreciate everything you have. I used to beat myself up for getting things wrong, but we’re only human aren’t we and we can learn from our mistakes (I’m still working on that too!). Ooh I will check out your book post. I’m going to try to take proper breaks and read more! Helen xo
These are really good points, especially cutting out negative people. It’s kind of amazing how much of an impact it can really have.
