We are only 11 days into 2019 and I’m already making changes. I’ve been kind of thinking about the kind of things I want to change on my platforms & the kind of message that I want to send to people. In particular I’ve been thinking about Instagram, Twitter & my blog, mainly because they’re the 3 platforms I use on a regular basis.
I think it’s natural to want to make changes, I mean we are changing everyday, we experience and learn new things everyday, so what we want from life is always changing. So what changes do I want to make?
On Le Blog
So on the blog I won’t be changing much besides the content that I create and the brands that I work with. I’ve always been very selective over the brands that I work with, I only ever put content out into the world that I’m 100% proud of but I really want to hone in on my content this year.
I am still going to be doing a mixture of topics, I’m never going to have a topical niche – but at the end of the day my niche has been and always will be me. I’m going to keep it to 3 posts a week – as of November (ish) last year I went from 4 to 3 because it was too stressful and I felt like 4 posts a week was killing my creativity, so I did what was best for me. It’s worked out a lot better for me to be honest & I feel a lot more productive with my blog.
Over the last 9 months I’ve genuinely fallen in love with Instagram, I mean don’t get me wrong, it’s still a massive pain in the arse with engagement, but I’ve genuinely enjoyed creating content. I am kind of loosely in a colour scheme (basically a lot of grey and purple) but it works and I have a variety of photos on there too, including a few more of my face. Even though I enjoy my flat lays I’m definitely trying to break it up a little bit so it’s not completely focused on flat lays. I love my cosiness of my grid right now.
I’ve also been trying to get into Insta Stories a bit more lately, if I’m honest, I’m not that great at speaking to a camera like that, I always feel super awkward & normally have to redo the video at least 4 times before I even consider posting it. It’s the perfectionist in me, I genuinely can’t help it.
Twitter has always been one of my favourite social media platforms, probably because I love being able to instantly interact with people and have a full conversation. In terms of what I want to do with my platform, I’m definitely going to be sharing more posts, making my voice heard on things that are important & not sweating the small stuff – aka Twitter trolls.
I’m making it my mission to make sure that I share as many of other people’s posts as I do my own, we are all in the same boat and it’s definitely something I want to do with my feed.
I’m also going to start unfollowing people who don’t bring me joy on my feed. Social media is supposed to be fun, and that should be what is important in life.
Are you making changes in 2019? Whether it’s your blogging life or just life in general!

I also changed up my blogging scheduled as I find 3 posts a week to be more manageable!

It definitely makes me feel more productive I have to admit!xxx
Great post – as always :).
“Social media is supposed to be fun, and that should be what is important in life.” I agree, Social Media should be a platform that you post without overthinking things. I’m still learning how to do this – as I like planning out my grid (on Insta) and blog but I’m slowly learning to just embrace posting things without having a schedule.

Just keep doing your thing my darling, your content is amazing and so are you!xxx
This is a great post, Amie! I think 3 posts is still plenty of content in a week, and if it works better for your schedule then it’s a great thing. I’m kind of in a rut with Instagram so I would like to work on that this year, but I also don’t want to take it too seriously as I’ll lose all love for it!
Beth x Adventure & Anxiety
I do too to be honest and it makes me feel much better at 3 posts a week! Give yourself some time with Instagram, it can be like a rollercoaster! xxx
Absolutely love this post! I love how you’re changing things up for you, and I hope it works well for you! I really try to engage as much as I can with others on Twitter, I definitely need to start sharing others peoples posts as much as my own!
Kayla ♥︎ http://www.kaylajayne.co.uk
I really hope so too! I just need to do what is best for me, I don’t want to push myself to the limit where I don’t want to create posts anymore!xxx
I have done the same in the last few days I was posting 5 days a week I just can’t so I will cut to three, I am also Improving my Instagram feed, I love your blog it’s so much better than my own Congrats.
Oh my darling your blog is gorgeous and amazing! Don’t put yourself down! xxx
I totally agree with you on unfollowing people who don’t bring you joy – so often I see the same negative stuff and that kind of energy has no place in my life so I’ve already blocked or unfollowed people who do have that vibe. I like that you seperated this post into the different platforms and made it clear how you want this next year to go for each – for me, twitter has become my main social media platform in regards to my blog too but I want to start a bookish instagram with some *hopefully* gorgeous pictures and flatlays! Thanks for sharing as always xx
I’ve unfollowed quite a few lately, mainly for my own personal wellbeing, not because I don’t support them! xxxx
It’s really interesting reading your plans for your social media this year because I’ve been thinking a lot about what I want mine to look like too. I sort of fell off the radar with Twitter and Instagram last year and I’m really enjoying making the effort again and there’s just something so satisfying with your grid when you just know it’s looking its best! I really want to engage more on Twitter and maybe get back in the habit of taking part in blog chats again
I love the twitter chats! They’re amazing, I wish there were more like when I first started blogging!xxx
Hope your changes work for you Amie! One big change I’ve done for this year thus far is to my blogging schedule. My new schedule is more centred around strategic engagement and interaction in terms of and when where it’s best to engage throughout the week for better results. Personally I feel like all social media platforms have their pros and cons. It’s mainly about which one your blog and brand would be best suited to and making those changes according to.

That is amazing my lovely, I really hope your changes work for you my lovely! xxx
can’t believe i’m not following you on instagram yet?? that will be changing the second i send this comment in. i can’t wait to see all the changes that you make this year. i think in regards to my blog this year, I want to post more. last year i mainly stuck to posting once a week but i think posting twice a week will really help my blog grow into what i know it can be. xx
mich / simplymich.com
Thank you so much my darling! Posting twice a week would be amazing! Good luck my darling, you’ve got this!xxx
I’ve been thinking about switching things up a little, nothing major but as they say, change is as good as a rest! 🙂

Exactly and sometimes a bit of a refresh can do the world of good! xxx
Love this, I’ve been thinking about changes that I want to make to my blog and socials too, I’m wanting to change my blog theme (I do all the time) and trying to engage more on my socials! Great post x
Changing a blog theme is always amazing, I changed mine in August and I feel much better for it!xxx
I like your decisions. They are positive, and I agree with your about unfollowing negative people.
I will also make one change: I’ll start using instagram.
Oooh good luck with Instagram my darling! It’s a brilliant platform! xxx
Oh my god I’m exactly the same when I post videos on Insta stories, I have to retake them about 7-8 times before I post it, especially when the camera is in selfie mode. I love Twitter, like you said, it’s such a great platform to interact with so many different people! xx
Lucy | http://www.lucymary.co.uk
I feel like you can get more of a conversation on Twitter than Instagram! I’ve got a video to do tomorrow, so we will see how that goes! xxx
Wow, props to you for even doing 3 posts a week! I struggle a lot with balancing full time work etc, so one post a week (usually at the weekend) is my current target. Completely agree about unfollowing accounts on Twitter which just aren’t working for you anymore, it’s the way forward! 😁
http://www.missblogsabit.com
Honestly it is all about what works for you my darling! I personally adore your content and what you do, you do an amazing job! It really is to be honest!xxx
I love how you said that your niche will always be you! Three posts a week is great, quality over quantity.
I’m still trying to find my niche but I can’t seem to narrow it down so I’ll just stick with I do right now. I hope this year to try and fix/make my brand somehow.
Loved your post
Loren | Plaidandsugar.blogspot.ca
I honestly don’t have a niche besides myself and that works for me, I don’t want to put myself in a box if I’m honest. Just post what makes you happy my lovely!xxx
I love this time of year because I feel like everybody sets out their blog goals for the year, and I love reading them! I also do 3 posts a week and I feel like it’s the perfect amount to maintain creativity. I also don’t have a niche because I feel like it’s just fun to be myself. Great post!
Jas xx | https://thoughtsfromjasmine.co.uk
I totally agree, it’s what works best for me and keeps me motivated to keep creating! xxx
3 posts a week is great! I did 1x week and it was so challenging for me to be consistent. I think 2x a week for blog posts is something I want to aim for for this first part of the year. Just took a browse on your blog and site and I absolutely love it. Great content, love!
Just take it one week at a time my lovely, I’ve learned that lately, every week is different, but you’ve totally got this! Good luck my darling! xxx
I am loving this blog post beautiful! I have a rule with myself and social media that if the person doesn’t make me smile or isn’t positive I unfollow them, so I am so happy to see that you’re going to be doing the same. 🌸💜
With love, Alisha Valerie x | http://www.alishavalerie.com
That is a good way to be to be honest my lovely!xxx
Great to hear you’re making some positive changes to suit you! I’ve really enjoyed Instagram lately too although I’m not focused on followers, I just enjoy using it! 🙂
I think when you enjoy it, that is when you notice the difference!xxx
This time of year has definitely been making me think about my blog and social media, and what I want to change about it this year. I’m thinking of going down to 4 posts a week on my blog and I want to keep creating similar photos to what I am now on Instagram. I think I’ve finally found what works for me even though it can be such a pain sometimes! Glad to hear your making positive changes 🙂 xx
Tiffany x http://www.foodandotherloves.co.uk
That is amazing my darling! At the end of the day as long as it works for you, that is all that matters!xxx
I always love seeing your content pop up on my feeds (insta/twitter/bloglovin) so keep doing what you’re doing gurl and here’s to 2019!
Oh my gosh Maisie that really means the world to me angel!xxx
I agree when it comes to unfollowing those that are negative or give off bad vibes and make you uneasy. I need to do more of this in 2019.
Rebecca Elaine x
It’s so important, especially for your own wellbeing too!xxx
I’ve really loved seeing more varied content from you on Insta, makes me feel like I know a bit more about you and your pics are so cute! x
Thank you so much my angel! That really means a lot to me!xxx
The only changes I’m making are that I want to schedule tweets again and include more videos in my posts x
http://www.ofbeautyandnothingness.co.uk
Scheduling tweets is honestly such an amazing thing, it just takes forever! xxx
Good luck! I love your blog so looking forward to any content that you produce in the near future! I’m also aiming to try and share more of other people’s content on Twitter as well – I keep trying it and then letting it go again but I must make an effort this year. Good luck – it’s always hard to make changes when you get into a certain way of doing things but it keeps things exciting.
Thank you so much my angel, that really does mean the world to me! xxx
It is always good to make changes when you feel like it’s appropriate. It is good that you’re going to be more selective and give a different variety of content. I had a hard time getting into IG stories at first. I find taking pictures with the native camera app is more helpful if anything. I agree with you about the unfollow part – at the end of the day, you do what makes you happy :).
Nancy ♥ exquisitely.me
This is a great post. I will probably never have a topical niche either. I just find it too restricting and I have too many interests to contain my blog to one.
There is nothing wrong with having multiple niches, just as long as you’re happy! xxx
Love this post! It is always great to reflect on what went great and what you liked (or what didn’t) to decide where to go next. It it always good to make changes. Good luck with everything! Love your Instagram!
Thank you so much Corinne! That means the world to me! xxxx
Great post! At the end of the day if changing up your platforms benefits your mindset and improves your creativity then do what’s best for you! I completely agree about social media being fun and if unfollowing people who bring negativity to your feed will make your experience better then go for it! I love how honest this post was and I cannot wait to read your upcoming content x
beesytimes.co.uk
Thank you so much Julia that means the world to me! It’s important to do what is best for you at the end of the day and if there are certain people not bringing you joy on your social media than you should definitely unfollow them! xxxx
I love this post gal! I really have fallen back into love with Instagram too; so I’ll definetely be giving yours a follow. I can’t wait to see what blog content you produce this year x
Kayleigh Zara 💀🥀Www.kayelghzara.com
Thank you so much Kayleigh, Instagram can be a tough one but I love posting my photos! xxxx
I need to tell myself that “social media is supposed to be fun” more often because I can sometimes get so hung up. Especially on Instagram, when I’m putting a lot of effort into my content but I’m not getting many likes and engagement, it can be disheartening but I need to just appreciate the likes and comments I am getting instead of dwelling on the ones I’m not.
For my blog, I’m changing my content and only doing lifestyle posts. They’re my favourite to write and my readers respond the best to them. Then, beauty, fashion etc can remain strictly on Instagram as I can be more creative with photos there.
Fran | http://www.franciscarockey.co.uk
Oh Fran, you’re doing an amazing job with your social media and your content is incredible! As long as you’re enjoying it, that is literally all that matters! Do what makes you happy my lovely! xxxx
I love what you’ve said about changing your schedule – I’ve been doing two posts a week for around a year but I’ve dropped it to once a week this year. I did feel a certain amount of guilt about it at first but with working two jobs, plus trying to find me time, it just wasn’t manageable and I found I was forcing content. I’d rather drop it to one a week and put out posts that I know I’m really proud of! xo
Sian | http://www.siankathrine.co.uk
You honestly need to do what is best for you and your content is always amazing my darling! xxxx
I also quite enjoy Twitter, it does seem so much more interactive! But I love the pretty photos on IG!
I do too! I love a balance of both! xxxx
I love your IG grid. Grey and purples are my favourite!
Ah what a lovely idea to share as many others posts on Twitter.
http://littlemissmelanie.com
Thank you so much my angel! I just love that kind of colour scheme, it’s my actual bedroom colour palette! xxxx
I want to use Instagram more but need to discover my own theme xx
Just post what makes you happy and just enjoy the photo process! xxx
I really want to start using twitter properly again!
