It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas

It’s the last Friday before Christmas. Aaaahhhh!

Christmas is a beautiful time of year, let’s be honest. It’s that time of year, with the lights all lit up, Christmas carols, the food, spending time with your family. I genuinely adore Christmas however I completely understand that it isn’t for everyone. It can be overwhelming and emotionally draining.

We all have our own Christmas traditions, things that get us in the Christmas spirit, even things that have been passed down by our grandparents, but it really is beginning to look a lot like Christmas.

I went to Covent Garden with Ella on Monday and it was honestly one of the best days. Wandering around Covent Garden, having the best lunch and buying way too many decorations in Sass and Belle. Listening to the violinists at Covent Garden, hearing the Christmas carols with all the gorgeous decorations. I’m in my festive element.

There is something that I genuinely find so relaxing about watching the Christmas Tree twinkle.

In our house we have some traditions, things from when I was a kid like my Nan to get in the festive spirit we would watch It’s A Wonderful Life. We also get a new personalised bauble every year for our tree, it’s happened every year since Paul and I have been together, and it’s our 8th Christmas together and our 5th one married!

If there is one thing that I’m pretty sure is a highlight of everyone’s Christmas is the food – I mean besides the family (sorry family) but you’ve got to be honest the food at Christmas is literally heaven on earth. I’m a sucker for a good roast potato, all the veggies, my vegan roast and some gravy. Basically any kind of beige food, I’m all about it.

Even though Christmas is a time for family, loved ones, good food and everything magical, it can still be a very difficult time of year for many, and it’s so important that in all of those wonderful moments to just take a moment.

For some people spending time with family can be incredible tough, it can be so overwhelming, just trying to make sure that you spend time equally with everyone, make sure everyone gets a good gift, getting enough sleep, even when it comes to money to try and make ends meet. That can be another thing too, it isn’t cheap, presents can be expensive and it can genuinely just be a difficult time of year for many.

Enjoy your Christmas time, give what you can, don’t feel like you have to spend £100s on one person, trust me it’s not necessary, it’s the thought that counts, enjoy every moment of the time you have with the people you love, and if you’re the kind of person that prefers to be on their own for Christmas, enjoy some chill time, take some time for you.

Christmas isn’t for everyone, whether you celebrate or not, have a lovely couple of days!

I 100% agree that it’s the thought that counts, I also love the saying ‘it’s not what’s under the tree that matters, it’s who’s around it’. Great post 🖤

Exactly, not everyone is all about the Christmas tree, the presents, some people like a quiet Christmas and that is okay! xxxx

  • Family logistics at Christmas can be so stressful! I’m all about the roast potatoes when it comes to Christmas, I always make an extra dish to nibble on throughout the day. Lovely photos here, London is so pretty at this time of year. Have a great Christmas! x

  • Christmas for me is alllll about the food. You’re right, family can be overwhelming at Christmas and I urge anyone who feels overwhelmed by their family to set some extra time to practise self-care.

Covent Garden is absolutely beautiful all year round but somehow at Christmas it is even more magical. You’re definitely right about feeling overwhelmed at times, I’m trying my hardest to just relax and enjoy myself as I’m always worrying about uni work and making myself ill. Hope you have a wonderful Christmas and a happy new year! Well deserved! x
