18 Thoughts I’m Having Before I Turn 25

I officially turn 25 on the 25th August and I have to be honest, I’m 100% not ready. It feels like yesterday where I was planning my 21st and that year I actually got married! Anyway, I’ve been absolutely terrified of turning 25, I don’t know why, I feel like the fact it is a quarter of a century I’m like what is gonna happen? Or could it be the best year of my life? Who knows. Anyway since it’s almost my birthday, I thought I’d write a post on thoughts I’m having before I turn 25.

1. I thought I’d be at a different place in my life at 25. I thought I would own a house, have children but I am married. One thing I do know, life is a marathon, not a sprint and everything will happen in it’s own time.

2. I literally cannot drink as much as I used to. I mean 1 drink and I’m pretty much gone. I don’t drink that much anymore but I’m pretty sure that 18 year old me would be disappointed in me. I do not condone binge drinking either.

3. I need more skincare in my life. I mean let’s be honest, if I can keep wrinkles at bay just a little bit I’m okay. I intend to grow old probably disgracefully.

4. Moving into a whole new age bracket sucks. I mean I got all emotional about being put in the 18 bracket, now I’m in the 25 and over, when someone says that they think you’re over the hill.

5. Life seems to be passing me by and I don’t like it.

6. If I’m like this now, how the bloody hell am I going to feel about the fact I’m turning 30 in 5 years? I mean I’m excited because I could be at a whole different stage in my life. I guess I’m excited to see how much I change!

7. I’m still growing as a person. I feel like when I was a kid I would hit like 25 and I would instantly be the person that I always thought I would be. But I’m still growing!

8. There is nothing wrong with continuing to learn, I’m learning pretty much everyday and I’m proud of still learning everyday!

9. Homeware is my jam, I could spend hours in T K Maxx looking at new homeware. My husband would probably cry if I spent more time in there.

10. Finding new bedding that I love is so exciting, I mean I’m an adult now, my bed is so comfortable. It’s my favourite place.

11. I need to make more memories because let’s be honest, life is passing us by so quickly and we all need to document these moments. Before we know it these moments will mean everything to us.

12. Caffeine is one of the greatest inventions known to man. Let’s be honest, I wouldn’t be functioning and I can’t get out of bed without a good cup of coffee in the morning.

13. I’m not mature in the slightest, I mean certain words still make me laugh like I’m hearing them at school all over again. Yep I’m that person that bursts out laughing with the dirtiest laugh ever.

14. I have regrets, I am not gonna lie, we all do, but I don’t want to be stuck on them, I want to continue to work hard and make sure that I get to where I need to be in life.

15. I’ve found someone I can’t wait to grow old with, I’ve been married 4 years in December. Even though turning 25 is terrifying, I can’t wait to grow old with Paul, it’s exciting!

16. I always need to remember to make the most out of everyday, you will never know what will happen tomorrow!

17. Make time for the people who will always make time for you.

18. I appreciate everything that I’ve gone through to get to where I am now, it has taught me so much about where I’m going in my life and where I want to be in the future!

TK Maxx is AMAZING for homeware, and I too am a lightweight when it comes to drinking – but 25 is fab! You will love it. I think we all have an idea of where we want to be by certain ages, and I definitely do not live up to my predictions, but it does not mean you are not on the right path for you and doing well – its the beauty of it all, life changes. I definitely would not want to be a student on my 30th birthday, but I will be – and it definitely is not wrong! Don’t put so much pressure on yourself, live life as it comes and enjoy it!

My first thought, my god I feel old – I’m 47! I would love to go back to my twenties though, there are a few things I would have done differently but then I guess that’s why I am the person I am today. I still have days when I am far from mature, it keeps my young, or I like to think so lol

    • amiecadwallader@outlook.com says:

I totally agree, I would have done so many things differently in my teens but they make you who you are today and you’re an incredible person! xxxxx

First of all, happy birthday!! I can totally relate to the feeling of entering a new age bracket. Although honestly it varies for me, sometimes I get emotional and sometimes I don’t care at all. I cried when I turned 10, haha, I just felt so old (instead of a midlife crisis it was like a ninth-of-a-life crisis). When I turned 13, I didn’t really feel anything, just felt like another age! I turn 18 in 4 months so I’m not sure how I will feel about that… definitely feels surreal that I’ll soon be a legal adult! All I know is age and birthdays are a weird thing 🙂

  • TK Max is amazing for homeware. My main advice being a 26 year old is to enjoy everything. The little things are the best!

  • Amie, I had these EXACT thoughts (most of them anyway!) last year when I turned 25. For some reason, 25 felt like a really daunting age, one I really wasn’t happy about or ready to hit. I don’t like my birthday ANY year and I’m 26 on 4th September so I’m freaking out all over again. The life passing me by is something I really struggle with almost to the point where I don’t allow myself to enjoy good times because I know they’ll be over in a flash. Before I go on too much, happy birthday for the end of the month and you’re doing SO amazingly that I know you’ll continue to shine when you’re 25 too! <3

I’m the same, I honestly can’t drink anymore! xxxx

  • Sarah Sullivan says:

I honestly do not remember the last time i had a proper drink and enjoyed it, i am now very much a water and tea girl! I 100% agree with the last one! Happy almost birthday!

    • amiecadwallader@outlook.com says:

Thank you my lovely, I don’t really like drinking too much, I’ll just fall asleep! xxx

  • Having turned 31 this year, I also felt like I would be in a different place by now, but I am happy with my life. Also, yes to skincare!!!

    • amiecadwallader@outlook.com says:

Exactly, I just want to be happy with my life, not wondering where I’m supposed to be in my life! xxxx

  • Alys says:

I like that these thoughts are so honest. I also adore new bedding haha, I guess that will never change with age! xx

Great post! I know what you mean! I’m 27 1/2 and I’m dreading hitting the big 30. Only because I feel like I’m just not in the place I thought I would be at this point in my life. I had NO IDEA you were married ha you kept that quiet. Congrats though that’s great.

I was so upset about turning 20 this year, I hated the fact I wasn’t a teenager anymore. I’m constantly mistaken for being about 15 though so I have no idea what to think ahaha. I know I definitely don’t act like an adult though. I hope you have a wonderful birthday!

Really love this post – I’m about to turn 25 too and it’s such a weird age. I agree, when I was a kid I thought 25 was going to be the age of having my life sorted out, how wrong I was haha!! x

    • amiecadwallader@outlook.com says:

I feel like it’s the age where you’re supposed to have all these life achievements and I feel like I’m not there yet! xxx

  • Ahh 25 is still so young. I was 30 this year and still feel not a day older than 20.
Like you, I have regrets too but I focus on the positives. I’ve achieved so much. I’ve travelled the world twice, returned to uni, doing a job I love and have the man of my dreams. I’m on the right track. Age is but a number.
