When you’re growing up, you always picture how your life will be, you’ll be in a job that you love, driving around in a car, maybe you’re married, living your best life. Then when you actually grow up, you realise how bloody hard being an adult is, I mean seriously. Who thought being an adult would be a load of fun?
You find that life admin gets on top of you, bills coming out your ears and wanting pizza every night, I mean this whole adulting malarkey is a pain in the arse. I don’t have my life together & that is okay.
I mean I’m a pretty organised in my day to day life, but I feel like I am currently wavering in the wind. I’m just doing what I like, trying to do what makes me happy.
I’m only 25 in August (that is bloody daunting for me – mainly because I’m like I swear I was just turning 18 the other week) and I feel like I should probably have all the answers by now.
I feel like I should probably be going in some kind of direction by now, have a couple of kids, own a house, you know be living the dream.
But then I realised, I don’t need all the answers. I’m probably never going to have my life together tied up in a pretty purple bow.
Something is always going to happen to put a spanner in the works, it’s important to do what makes you happy. Happiness is more important.
One day I will own a home, I mean house prices in my area are absolutely extortionate because of where we are, but we will get there.
Right now though, there are probably only a few ways I’m actually going to have my life together.
1. Remembering to do my skin twice a day – I mean I’m normally pretty good, lately however where I’ve been ill, it’s been once a day and my skin decided to have a break out (lucky me)
2. Saying no to things – I actually wrote a blog post on this, mainly because I’m the worst person for saying no, I think I can do everything but in reality, I need a break.
3. Not feeling guilty because I haven’t managed to get everything done – I love a good to do list, but do you know what, you’re only human, Rome wasn’t built in a day, you can’t do everything.
4. Being easier on myself – I tend to have a go at myself when I don’t do everything that I need tom I mean that is just me, I’m the kind of person that likes to make sure that everything is done, ticked off so I have something else to concentrate on. I like to be busy.
5. Remembering to moisturise after you’ve had a shower – Yes I’m pretty sure my skin hates me for that, but if it isn’t right under my nose when I’m doing it, I forget. Lately I’ve been putting reminders in my bathroom. Yes it’s got that bad. I’m sorry skin.
Like I said I’m only 25, I don’t have to have done everything by the time I’m 30. Life doesn’t always go the way you want it to wen you’re 6. Yes I was that child that had a plan for when they were older.
I just have a direction I’m going in, and I’m going to enjoy every moment of it! Do you relate? Let me know in the comments!

Amie this is so relatable! I think we all feel stuck at times, particularly hitting the quarter life milestone. Like you said, focusing on what makes you happy now is most important and doing what you love. I think we will always feel like we lack direction at times!
I am definitely just doing more of what makes me happy. That is what is more important! xxxx
im 32 and i still dont know what i want to do with my life!
That makes me feel better, I feel like regardless of what age we don’t always know where we are going on or going to happen xxxx
I’m 25 this year and feel like I need to get my shizz together. I mean everything’s fine and not on fire, but i would seriously like to feel a bit more secure in life at times. I have no idea what’s gonna happen but whatever, I think something’s got to be fun!
I totally agree, I feel like whatever happens it is going to be an adventure! xxx
I’m 26 in September and I’m totally feeling all these feels right now. When I was in school / sixth form, I had such a clear vision about where I wanted my life to go, what I wanted to study, what I wanted to do. I thought I had it ALL figured out and then due to various circumstances, nothing panned out the way I wanted it and here I am, almost 26, further from where I wanted to be than I ever thought I would be! It really does get to me sometimes but you HAVE to remember that life isn’t a comparison game or a competition. You’ve just gotta do your best <3
I totally agree, I’m just trying to focus on what I want, what I need to do, and where I need to be because comparison literally crushes every emotion in my body! xxxx
This is a great post! I’ll be 24 in July, and I’ll be honest… I’m dreading it. I feel like I’ll officially hit my mid-20s. I wanted to be married, be a successful writer and blogger, and be a mommy by now, but unfortunately, I’ve fallen behind. Thank you for the reminder that it’s okay to not have that life right now. I’m working towards it!
You’re doing an amazing job my lovely, go at your own pace! xxxx
Love this. It’s okay, not to be sorted or all together!
That is definitely something I’m learning! xxxx
This is a great post. I’m currently in a job that might end in September (it’s a year’s contract) and after that, I have absolutely no idea what I want to do, and I’ve made peace with that, discovering that it’s OK, and lets me explore a new career area.
