Confidence Wobbles & Behind The Beautiful Photos

Ugh, I’m back having a massive crisis of confidence again. So I’m posting a photo from when I was feeling super confident and like an absolute queen. Unfortunately I literally feel like I’m back to square one. I’ve spoken about self confidence on my blog a lot and I think it is something pretty much everyone can relate to. I mean right now, I feel uncomfortable in various aspects of my life, I feel slightly lost, I feel low and I feel so uncomfortable.

Now it’s not all about the way that I look, it’s deeper than that. It’s about being comfortable with who I am, being comfortable with me in general. It is natural to have confidence wobbles sometimes but this one has pretty much shaken me to my core.

It’s understandable that we are our own worst critics sometimes, when we have our photo taken, we notice all of the things that we don’t like and don’t feel comfortable with sharing it. I think on social media we always want to share our best photos, put our best foot forward and to share snippets of our lives.

Little do we know the in between those photos are moments where we feel low, not confident and completely lost.

When I look at this photo, I don’t see the same person that I am right now, I see someone who is confident, oh how fast things can change in a week and a half.

I’ve always struggled with confidence, always. I don’t remember a time where I wasn’t worried about the way I looked, the way I felt, which is sad isn’t it? I’m almost 25, and I’ve always struggled with a lack of confidence.

It has taken me years to get to where I want to be with my confidence, but this confidence wobble has left me feeling so low it hurts. I’d worked so hard on my confidence and all of a sudden that hard work has crumbled into dust.

The fact that I’ve had so many health issues over the last few months that have given me such a confidence knock and I think that has been a massive contributing factor for me, but from the things I post on Instagram you would never know what was going on in my life, because I’m guilty of completely glazing over everything.

I guess where I’m at with my confidence, is it’s at an all time low. But I’m not going to give up. I’m not going to sit there and compare myself on social media, especially from the gorgeous photos that people post, we are all guilty of it, including myself. I’m not going to sit there and berate myself for not being what people think is acceptable, I’m an amazing person, and it’s important that I learn to be comfortable and confident in myself. It will take time but I’m determined to get back there.

At the end of the day, my body does incredible things for me everyday and because of that I need to remember that my health issues don’t define me, my body is still incredible and my confidence comes from within!

What are your thought? Let me know!

  • I’m sad to hear this, I wrote about confidence recently too, my take on it is we are too hard on ourselves about it like you say, and I believe that the smallest of steps can help build it so take those and don’t expect to go from 0 to 100 that fast. I also think not only do we not see your lack of confidence through what you portray on instagram I highly suspect no one sees it day to day either and if quizzed they’d think you were confident so just think of that whenever you feel a wobble coming on – most people won’t notice so power through ! X

Thank you so much Lucy, honestly your comment made me cry happy tears. I think sometimes behind the photos there is a different perspective! xxxxx

  • It doesn’t always work, but when I struggle with my body confidence I try to remember – who is getting rich by making me feel the way that I do? Who profits from a society that makes people fear fatness and place their self-value in what is effectively the bag of squishy bits they move around in? And the answer to that is tabloid magazines like Heat (where an accomplished adult woman is judged on her cellulite), abusive shows like The Biggest Loser (hey, let’s quarantine and torture fat people!) those stupid detox (laxative) teas that Kylie Jenner promotes, and dangerous appetite suppressants that aim their marketing at teenage girls. I’d never buy any of those things, but the cultural issues I buy into when I judge my body are what make them so rich and pervasive and AS IF I’m buying into social fallacies that mean they get money. Nope. So then I go buy nice LUSH stuff and give my imperfect body a lovely bubble bath, and look through the body positivity hashtag on instagram and see wonderful people living life with the body they have.

Awh Amie I’m sorry to hear you’re feeling like this. You’re beautiful and kind and talented and should feel like a Queen ALL the time! But I know as much as you do that that isn’t the case and self confidence issues can bite you when you least expect them. Take care of yourself <3

Thank you so much my lovely, I think it is too normal for people to feel uncomfortable with themselves! xxxx

  • Boxnip says:

If I hadn’t of read this I would never in a million years have guessed you lack confidence. You always come across so vibrant, and bubbly, and oozing confidence. Just goes to show to never judge a book by its cover, eh! Your biggest critic is always yourself and I think it’s good to remember that other people do not see us the same way. We are definitely are harshest judges and we need to love ourselves more. I hope you start to feel better soon; it’s forever an uphill battle, I know. x

Thank you so much my lovely, that really does mean a lot, and I totally agree, we always criticise ourselves so much! xxxx

  • Mel says:

Aw sweetie! I think it’s notmal to have ups and downs in such a harsh and judgemental society. I also agree we are our own harshest critics, but you’re right, our bodies are amazing and we should celebrate them as they are.
