10 Thoughts All Bloggers Have When It Comes To Instagram

Ahhh Instagram, a platform that we used to love and then it all went sour. Instagram is such a creative platform and it is something that I have lately found myself thinking more and more about on a regular basis. I mean I have a special kind of love for the content I create on Instagram, but there are so many things that Instagram need to improve to make the platform what it used to be – I mean we put all this work in, it should be fun! So what are the 10 thoughts that bloggers have when it comes to Instagram?

1. Why’s no one seeing my posts?

Oh lord if I had a penny for every time I said this I’d probably be a millionaire right now. It is so annoying that barely anyone sees my posts, but I’m at that point where I genuinely don’t care anymore, I’m just enjoying the creative process!

2. Shadow banning, Instagram what are you playing at?

I’ve been shadowbanned many times now, it is bloody frustrating. I really wish they would stop the whole shadow banning thing because it isn’t necessary! A lot of bloggers, myself included don’t spam, we don’t spam hashtags, we come up with incredible content to share with people, why do they feel the need to shadow ban creatives like this?

3. Why am I seeing posts from 5 days ago?

Oh lord if they set it back to chronological order it would make such a bloody difference. I don’t need to see posts from like 5 days ago, I want to see posts from about 5 minutes ago, and not only that if people are seeing posts from 5 days ago on their feed is that why people aren’t interacting with my feed? Or maybe people just don’t like my content?

4. Someone needs to create a new Instagram either that or I’m gonna delete it.

I’ve thought this many a time, I need a new app, I mean that Vero was around, but that was such a shady app…

5. Oh my gosh look at how amazing everyone’s content is?

I am absolutely loving so many Instagram’s right now, I mean it gives me all the envious vibes, mainly because I’m like oh my gosh look at all the photos. I mean seriously if I could get photos like some of my favourites, I would be in my element. If you’re looking for Instagrammers I recommend Nadia, Ella, Amy, Alice, Emmy-May, Chloe, Rosie, Holly, Love Rosie, Kirsty & Leah.

6. Will my Instagram ever grow?

I have been stuck on a certain number for ages, but I’m just gonna continue to do my thing. Numbers aren’t everything but it would be amazing to see that people enjoy my content.

7. I’m loving creating content

Lately, I’ve kind of found my own signature, I’ve found my own wavelength that I’m enjoying doing right now, the whole process of taking photos – even the editing! I used to hate editing, now I’m finding a groove and I enjoy it so much!

8. Why do I always see the typo after I upload?

I’m normally so nervous when I upload to Instagram I miss the one little typo, I am that person, but I’m not perfect, we all make mistakes. I am making more of an effort to proof read before I click upload!

9. I hate my grid, what is going on.

I say this to myself many a time, mainly because I feel like ugh does it represent me? Does it show the kind of person I am? Does it look like every other bloggers Instagram? Am I becoming a blogger cliché?

10. People please follow me if you want, but don’t follow & then unfollow.

Ugh the follow/unfollow game is strong. It is so annoying, like if you want to follow then follow, but don’t just do it to just get me to follow back. It isn’t necessary, it honestly must be so exhausting going through and following and then unfollowing.

I’m not gonna lie Instagram does have it’s shortfalls, it’s a pain, it drives me mad, but do you know what, creating is so much fun, I’m learning to just enjoy it for what it is, another platform to share my voice! Enjoy it!

  • Instagram is literally the only social media platform that I use (for my blog and personally – I have the same account for both) that I genuinely don’t care about followers on. I love Instagram, I love using it, seeing people’s photos and posting my own but I don’t focus on it like I do my blog and Twitter following and it’s actually really nice to have that platform that really, I just use for fun!

My Insta seems stuck as well – so frustrating! And the algorithm doesn’t help at all. Glad you’ve found your signature like you said! 🙂

Instagram is such a pain in the arse, the struggle is real! xxxx

  • Totally relate to this. Why do Instagram do all these backwards things? It is so frustrating. I don’t even bother looking at my numbers on Insta anymore as it seems a bit pointless.

It’s so annoying isn’t it? I feel like as a platform it takes steps back, which is annoying but I’m making the best of a difficult platform! xxx

You’ve literally summed up all of my thoughts! And tbf I’ve only felt this way fairly recently – my engagement has been really good since I came back to blogging all the way up until the last couple of weeks – my content is getting better but my engagement is worse and it makes me wanna cry a little bit! Gonna keep plugging on though because what else can you do?! xo

I don’t particularly care about my Instagram theme or anything, but the shadow-banning and other methods to not get your estimated reach are so annoying 😫
