The Importance Of Priming Your Skin And My Favourites

Priming your skin is so important, especially for me because there is nothing worse than your make up looking absolutely amazing, then an hour later it basically sliding off your face. I can’t be dealing with that, so I’m talking about why it’s important for you to prime your skin & my favourite primers! I mean I’m not kidding when I say I have a lot of primers, however they all work for very different skin days or basically how I’m feeling about my skin! Some of them are super budget friendly, others are a splurge, but they’re all incredible!

The Body Shop Insta Glow CC Cream – Now I have loved this for a while now, I actually talked about it not so long ago, (here actually) and honestly I loved it, it gives you such a luminous glow underneath and paired with a glowy foundation, it’s perfect for summer! If you’re worried it will make you look oily you don’t have to worry, I have combination skin, and I’ve used this on my oily days and it still works perfectly!

Superdrug B HD Flawless Primer – I absolutely love this primer, it does feel quite thick at first, but when it applies, it leaves your skin feeling really smooth, your make up stays on all day and your face isn’t left feeling greasy! It’s super soft on the skin too & leaves you feeling so confident in your make up!

Hylamide HA Blur – If you’re in need of mattifying your skin, then this is the product for you! I have rather large pores, I have used this one for a while now and honestly it is such a good but underrated product! It does tend to sit on top of the skin, and it is really smooth and comes out quite thick, but that doesn’t bother me too much but if you’re looking for a thinner primer then this probably isn’t the one for you!

GOSH Primer Plus Skin Adaptor – When I first tried this it was such a learning curve for me, because it was so different to anything I had used before, it adapted to my skin colour and evened out my skin tone. I have particularly uneven skin, so when my skin is at it’s absolute worst, using this can really help when it comes to applying my foundation so I don’t look patchy but also evens out my redness!

West Barn Co Smoothing Primer – I absolutely love using this primer, especially when my skin is incredibly dull, I do get very dull skin, so where my skin is combination I do have days where my skin needs a little brightening and the pores need a little extra tightening! If I’m having an extra dry skin day, this one is perfect for my skin!

E.L.F Blemish Control Primer – I can get some of the most painful blemishes known to man sometimes, especially when I’m getting ready to come on my period or when I am actually on my period! This one really helps to calm the skin and to help combat my spots! If you’re super prone to blemishes, this primer is definitely worth the investment!

Urban Decay Optical Illusion Complexion Primer – I got this before Christmas, I loved the formula, I loved the way it made my skin feel but also the effect it had on my skin! This is another pore perfecting primer, which is necessary when you have pores like mine! This is for when you can seriously notice my pores, but it is so smooth on the skin and definitely brightens my skin! Not only that it doesn’t dry my skin out either, it’s already dry enough!

Superdrug B Souffle Primer – This is such a fabulous primer, especially when if you’re looking for one that is going to last a long time, that you don’t have to pump, it’s in a small pot and you don’t need lots of product to go over your face! It’s such an incredible cushion between your skin and your make up, it mattifies with it being more like a mousse than a cream, it goes on your skin perfectly!

What are your go to primers? These are my top favourites, for various budgets and skin types! Let me know your favourites!

I have a Sephora primer that I bought in New York two years ago and don’t wear makeup much so I have certainly got use out of it. When that runs out, I’ll certainly try one of these next time.
