I talk about self care all of the time, but lately I’ve been so behind on making time for self care. I have a pretty good routine during the week and at the weekends I literally just want to nap and eat almond nuggets (they’re covered in chocolate and taste absolutely amazing!) Anyway, like I said I’ve been pretty much useless when it comes to making time for self care and when I write a blog post it normally gives me a massive kick up the backside to get my life in order.
When I wake up in the morning, I say to myself I am determined to do a face mask, turn my phone off, get my book out and get immersed in another life, or watch Netflix with a massive cup of tea and attempt not to fall asleep 5 minutes into the first episode, or even play Sims for a while, but it never ever happens.
Life can be such a pain the arse sometimes.
Anyway I’ve got a plan. I’ve got a plan to make sure that I make more time for self care. I need it. So how am I going to make time for self care & how can you do it too?
1. Make my favourite food
So I have meal prepped lunches for work, and that really helps me when I’m super busy at work, and having my favourite food is literally a massive self care thing for me. I’m a sucker for a salad at the moment (I don’t fully understand why) but having all my favourites like roasted sweet potato & all the veggies, it makes me so happy.
Make time to make your favourite foods, it helps my mood immensely.
2. Taking time away from my phone
This is something I really struggle with, mainly because I feel lost without my phone. It’s like I don’t know what to do with my hands if I am not holding my phone. I’ve been trying my best to take more time away, especially of an evening so I can spend time with Paul and BB-8 (if you’re new here that is the name of my rabbit!)
3. Plan my mornings
Now this doesn’t always work, but I did some of this last week and it really helped, planning my breakfast so I don’t have to rush around, having some cuddle time with BB-8, slowly get ready for work and watch a bit of TV before I leave. Planning really helps and makes my day a lot better.
4. Learn to say no
I’ve actually written a whole blog post on this, but let’s be honest, sometimes you really do need to say no, say no to the things that you can’t do or don’t have time for. Sometimes you have to put yourself first, and do what is best for you.
5. Prioritise
I’m the kind of person that pretty much believes everything needs to be done now and if it isn’t I get particularly grumpy. Anyway lately I’ve been prioritising more and reminding myself to only do the important things when they need to be done. My life literally doesn’t have to go at 100 miles a minute. Sometimes you just need to slow down.
How are you planning on getting some self care time in? Let me know in the comments!

I really need to learn to say no more!
I love that you’re making your self-care a priority darling. I totally agree with everything you had said above and also recommend meditation for self-care as it really helps. I decided to ‘say no’ to people last year and feel so much better for it so I’m happy to hear that you’re doing the same. Sending you all of the love 💜

I think the longer we actively practice self care, the more in tune we are with knowing when we need it most.

It’s so important to take time to yourself xx
Self-care is so important and I think something that a lot of people tend to forget. I’m quite bad at saying no to people, though I am better than I used to be. 🙂

You can’t beat your favourite meal. Time away from your phone is such a good one too.

These are such great tips! I definitely have been taking time away from my phone more and I think it is so important. I love to get all cosy and comfy and watch my favourite shows to help relax. Thank you for sharing your tips!

I always find taking time out from what I think I should be doing & just doing what feels right makes me feel so much better
I could be so much better with self care at the moment, can’t remember the last time I even did my nails, but one thing I’ve been doing consistently is having time away from my phone. It’s crazy just how much it help. Trying to get back into working out and eating healthy this week after being ill for the last month! But I’m definitely like you and have much more to do than I can but prioritise them all at the same level. Definitely need to get better!
