Adapting To An Ever Changing Blogosphere

Blogging has changed so much hasn’t it? I’ve been blogging for 4 years in March, and even though it’s been the best thing I’ve ever done, it has changed so much. I mean if you’ve been around since my first ever blog post honestly I’m so thankful and proud of you for sticking around, but when I first started there was a massive sense of community, I got excited at the thought of having a massive chinwag on the blog chats, now? The community seems to have changed so much, an even though it makes me sad, I need to adapt.

The blogging community is one of the greatest things, don’t get me wrong, the community is the reason my blog is the way it is today. The people, the way they motivate, they push you to be the best version of yourself, and that is something that is ridiculously special to me.

However over the years the amazing blog chats that I would look forward to, sharing thoughts, learning new things from others and to be honest I miss it. I miss the opinions, I miss the laughter if I’m honest, it was something that I always enjoyed and I loved being able to chat and talk to bloggers about so many different topics. I mean there are still a few but  there used to be about 2 or 3 every single night.

The blogosphere seems to have changed so much to the point I miss the way that we used to all interact. I feel like there is a massive piece missing and I don’t know how to get it back.

So how am I adapting to the change in the blogosphere?

Well besides reminiscing over the way that the blogosphere used to be, I’m curating my own personal blogging community. A place where I have all of my favourite blogs all in one place, I can comment, read, write and feel inspired all at the same time.

It’s a place where if you have a problem, you can talk about it, message them, chat to them and just be yourself.

A blogging community doesn’t have to revolve around 1 social media platform, you can have your own community, it’s about creating a space where you feel supported – especially if you have a problem which happens a lot, and at the end of the day that is one of the most important things in the blogging world.

When it comes to the blogging world, it is important to remember why you started it in the first place, the reason that made you start a blog, put all the hours of work to create this amazing content, the tears and the hours of proof reading, if it has all been worth it then keep going, keep doing your thing.

Blogging is the place where I write about everything I want, my thoughts, my feelings, the things that I love and topics that are close to my heart and that is what I’m going to continue to do!

How are you adapting to an ever changing blogosphere?

Like what you’ve read? How about we become social media friends?

  • I totally agree with everything that you have said beautiful. Blogging is changing so much, so quickly! I do have to admit that I miss the way blogging was all about support and community whereas now it feels to be about drama and copying each other. I have all of my favourite bloggers in one place too where I can keep up to date with what everyone is up to, love this post babe! 💜✨

I feel like we are missing the community so badly, but I’m trying to create my own place where I can just support my favourite bloggers! xxx

I’ve been around for the past decade (although 7 years only in the current form), it went from personal and hobby-like to an industry turning over millions with the big influencers. As it became more like a job the whole community spirit died a little. The drama and competitiveness came and it’s been ages since I went to an event which didn’t revolve around more opportunities, just hanging out with a drink whining about the state of things like friends but who understand because of the shared backgrounds, unlike most people’s real friends. The online chats are so monotonous and all oriented to sharing help but nobody digs deeper enough because there’s a lot to lose when you make money from it, so you scroll through loads of answers agreeing with you. And hardly any conversation. Sometimes I think I should just get my. head above the parapet and throw out there what I would like to see in the community even if fear of rejection is a big deal!

Blogging can be incredibly competitive, and you’ve been around a lot longer than I have, so you’ve seen a lot more change than I have! xxxx

I can’t believe how much the blogosphere has changed over the last few years, this year especially I think. I’ve been blogging nearly 5 years now and it’s so unlike how it was when I started. There never seem to be chats on anymore and there’s always some sort of drama going on, it’s easy to get down about it all. I just try to remember why I started and go back to writing for me rather than worrying about what anyone else is doing anymore xx

It’s really changed but I’m enjoying writing and using Instagram a lot at the moment. I think as long as you still enjoy it then that’s all good 🙂 xx

I’ve only been blogging for a little over 2 years and even within that time I have noticed the change; definitely, the community feel has really lessened. The only thing I see a lot of now is drama by the same faces usually and it’s just sad. x

It is interesting to see how the blogging world changed. Overall, I feel good about the changes – it’s so much easier to digest posts these days. I haven’t participated much in bloggers chats. I like that we’re using Twitter to really promote our content. My way of adapting to change is to be aware of what’s going on around me :). Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

  • This was really interesting. Even though I’ve only been blogging a little over a year I can still see some changes in the way people interact. I love that you’re focussing on why you started. I think one of the best things about having your own platform is that you can create your own little community, Twitter chats aside x

Great post! I’ve only been blogging about 2 1/2 years, and already, I’ve seen so much change. I think it can be really hard to adapt to the changes, but if you accept that it’s going to change, and just kind of roll with it – which it seems like you are doing – I think it will really help! 🙂

I agree with you SO much girl! I used to love getting involved in all of the chats and making new friends. I guess I just need to reach out more to make friends now, but I find it so difficult in the blogosphere these days!

I think it’s good that people have been able to pursue their blogging passions and make it a career, but I do agree that there has been so much bitchiness and a definite hierarchy within the community. Feel free to disagree, but that’s my personal opinion.

    Such a great post!
I have to say I feel blogging has changed so much since I started it 4 years ago, in just that small amount of time!
A lot of bitchiness and people showing off with sponsored post.
However, the supportive side of it hasn’t changed which is something I’m so grateful for.

This is a beautiful post! I started blogging because of my love for books but I’ve come to love the community I’ve found myself in. I’ve started branching outside of the book community; I’ve especially been loving the mental health and lifestyle community.
