Looking Back At Christmas 2014

As most people know this time last year I was getting ready to get married to my husband Paul, so it was a very busy Christmas but not only that looking back on last Christmas it was one of the best I ever had, for a variety of different reasons which I am about to go into. Christmas in our house is such a big thing, my mum loves Christmas, it’s literally Santa’s Grotto in the Hayward household, but I love making people smile when it gets to Christmas Day, I literally cannot wait to share with others.

Being Married – My first married Christmas felt so different, and I know a piece of jewellery and a change in my name probably doesn’t sound like much, but waking up next to my husband on Christmas day and saying “Merry Christmas Mr Cadwallader” and him turning around and saying “Merry Christmas Mrs Cadwallader” it just felt amazing. Just the fact that we had that incredible commitment to each other, the months and years of wedding planning was completely worth it.

Spending Time With My In Laws – Over the last few years my in laws had been through so much collectively, one of my my brother in laws have special needs but Michael is the most caring man you will ever meet, his smile is infectious and his giggle can put a smile on your face instantly. After a very difficult time it was so nice to be able to sit down and celebrate with them and spend some time with them, it was a wonderful year.

Dinner At Home – We try to make it fair when it comes to Christmas and because my mum and dad aren’t together we try to see everyone as much as we can and the same amount. I saw my dad just before Christmas last year so we had dinner with my Mum & Step Dad, and then spending time with Paul’s parents.

Christmas Day – Paul got me a Fujifilm Instax camera, and honestly it was one of the best presents ever, we had so much fun with it, it was absolutely hilarious trying to make sure that I didn’t waste any of the film. Every time I wanted to take a photo I was so worried that I had only gone like an arm or just one face, but Paul had a go too and he thought it was brilliant fun!

This was New Years Eve, we were round Paul’s parents for dinner, it was such good fun, we spent time together but still did our own thing if that makes sense, it was so lovely to spend time with everyone though, it was a lot of fun and it made me laugh. In this photo however I couldn’t stop giggling I was so happy, I had the person I had just married a few weeks ago right in front of me, I had the best people around me, I was completely over the moon with happiness.

I think it is safe to say that I had an incredible Christmas last year, but I intend to make this Christmas even better.

What was your Christmas last year like?
