5 Morning Rituals That Help Me Be More Productive

Mornings are tough. I am not a morning person, I am pretty much the grumpiest person in the morning, from the moment the alarm goes off, until I have had my breakfast followed by an IV of coffee, I mean I am not a morning person. I know for some people aka my husband, they’re morning people and they can get loads done, me however, I’m pretty much like a bear with a sore head, pull the duvet over my head, hide in my pillow fort kind of person. So what am I doing to make mornings better?

1. Put your alarm on 20 minutes earlier

Yep you heard me, you’re probably going to hate me for it. But by getting up 20 minutes earlier, you’re not rushing around like a busy little bee, you can slowly get ready. There is nothing worse than being completely rushed, or the moment you almost leave the house with only one eyebrow on. Yes I’ve done that before.

2. Yoga

Yoga has helped me so much, it helps start my day off better and not only that it calms my soul. I take about 15 minutes and it helps to warm my body up, especially if I am stressed or anxious. Yoga has given me so much over the years, not only has it helped my flexibility but it also helps me feel less anxious. Just being able to take a few moments away from a busy life can really help, I mean it gives me a few moments to me.

3. Prep the night before

Lately I’ve been prepping my breakfast the night before, so whether you like overnight oats or a breakfast parfait (that is my current favourite) then it makes your morning easier! Not only that when you have a delicious breakfast to look forward to, it gives you something exciting to look forward to for breakfast!

4. Have a good cup of coffee

Now a lot of people say limit your caffeine, but honestly I work better when I have caffeine in my life. I mean I need it. I feel like it wakes me up, it keeps me going, and it’s the perfect start to my day with some caffeine goodness. I’m currently loving my Beanies Coffee and they’re super cheap!

5. Stay away from your phone

As soon as I wake up, normally the first thing I will do is have a scroll through social media, I mean can you imagine how much time we waste over a year just waking up and scrolling through social media? I mean don’t get me wrong when social media is part of your job it is amazing, but it is also so important that as soon as you wake up that you don’t have to worry about sending a tweet and you can just chill out a little bit more. I’m not saying being on your phone is a bad thing when you wake up, but personally for me I find that being able to wake up without instantly scrolling through social media, it makes a massive difference to my productivity!

I’m not too bad first thing but I am really bad for grabbing my phone when I wake, then spending way too long scrolling through social media, IG especially! I don’t have any morning rituals but maybe I should start some! x
