Ahh self care, the one thing we all know we are supposed to do more of, but also the one things we forget to do. I’m very much guilty of that, I talk about self care so much but the actual execution of self care – that is what I struggle with. A massive part of self care for me is honestly just making time for me, taking a deep breath, just having a moment and being able to just chill. Life goes so quickly so before you know it we hit April and wonder where the year has gone.
Now we all know that guilt that most people (including myself) will feel when you take time out, knowing we have a list that is practically 5 miles long, so much to get done and to attempt to have some food and get 9 hours of sleep a night. I mean let’s be honest trying to balance a life is difficult. Remind me why I wanted to grow up so quickly?
Anyway I’ve kind of gone on off another tangent haha, so what are the ways I’m prioritising self care?
1. Sleep
I have to be honest I’m guilty of watching TV more than I’m falling asleep, I can’t help it. I have a really good routine for before bed anyway, especially when it comes to my skincare and making sure I moisturise my skin and just fluff my pillows and my head hits the pillow.
I’m definitely going to start turning my phone off before bed though, because let’s be honest, who isn’t guilty of checking their phone before bed?
2. Healthy eating
I love eating healthy, I have been having salads with everything lately, and I do love healthy food, I feel better, I feel more awake and I feel like I’m just happier because I know I’m looking after my body and feeding it exactly what it needs!
3. Treat yo self
Now like I said I love eating healthy, but I’ll tell you now, I will always go for that bit of chocolate, a cupcake. Never deny yourself anything. I love my food, I especially love my sweet treats, so if I’ve made brownies, you’ll be damn sure I’ll heat it up and put ice cream over it.
4. Pamper yourself
I love a good pamper session, mainly because I love the way I feel afterwards, putting on a face mask, put a bath bomb in, put some candles on and just zen out. We all need a good pamper session sometimes, it is good for the soul! It’s like a trip to a spa that you can do from the comfort of your own home and just chill, without spending a small fortune!
5. Workouts
I have fallen in love with working out, it has been such an amazing journey I’ve been on. I find it so therapeutic, I feel like any feelings that I have I can just get them all out in a workout. It makes me feel so good after and not only that it has made me understand my body a lot more! I like to do some yoga which honestly pushes my body to do incredible things and opens my mind to so many thing!
6. Making time to read
I love reading, it allows you to immerse yourself in a different situation, get involved with different characters and just get away from daily life. It actually gives me such peace and just soothes me.
What are some of the ways you’re prioritising self care? Remember it is so important to look after yourself!

I love this so much! This is my plan too, we should be better to ourselves together! I want to feel awesome for going away on holiday 🙂

Thank you so much sweetheart! Ooooh where are you doing?!? I hope you have the best time angel! xxxx
This was so lovely to read 🙂 I’ve recently realised that I’m very hard on myself, and will often take things like ‘taking a break’ or ‘glancing at Instagram while I should be working’ as signs that I’m a slacker. I’m going to try and block out hours in the day to just take time to recharge and do myself some good in constructive ways like you’ve listed here, rather than working myself to the bone then berating myself for burning out and scrolling through twitter for an hour. I think prioritising self-care is super important, and when we make it feel like part of a daily routine, it’s not something we need to feel guilty about.
Thank you so much angel! I really appreciate it! I think we all need to take some time and to really just not be so hard on ourselves. Self care is so important and I think it is very easy to forget that! Small steps in the right direction will really help! xxxx
As much as I hate it, when I eat healthily I do feel so much better!! Sleep is also so key for me too!
I totally agree! It is also important to treat yourself on occasions too! xxxx
I love a good self care post. I’m totally with you on all those things and never deny myself food. I think that’s so unhealthy and it honestly effects my mood so much. Great post!

Exactly, you should never deny yourself and always do what makes you happy! xxxxx
I always try and prioritize all of these and I definitely find healthy eating the hardest. But I also think it’s important to eat what we want sometimes. If self care is ordering a pizza one night, then that’s totally fine by me!
Exactly, you don’t have to eat healthy all of the time, you can have a pizza too and it is also self care! Pizza is good, it tastes amazing! xxxx
All of these are so important. I like reading self-care posts as they act as a good reminder that these little things have to be done regularly. Brilliant post!

Thank you so much angel! I feel like it helps to be able to look back and remember the importance of self care! xxx
These are all such simple things which we all forget to do – I’m definitely guilty of not sleeping as much as I should because I’m so busy trying to get stuff done but I’m actually making myself worse! xo

I need all the sleep right now, I’m exhausted! These are definitely small things that can just make a massive difference to your day! xxxx
These are great things to get started with prioritising, especially as I need to eat healthier!
