The Best Bits About Being A 00s Kid

Let’s be honest, being a 00s kid was honestly the best thing ever! Anyone who says different is probably gonna have to answer to me! Anyway, I loved growing up in the 00s, mainly because there were so many good things about the 00s, but there were also some epic fails too – some of which I am definitely guilty of (sorry 00s) and I would show pictures but I’m not even joking when I say they’re pretty embarrassing. So what were some of the best bits about growing up in the 00s and have I learned from the fails?

1. Flip Phones

I lived for my Motorola Razr and when they released the gold shade and my friend had it, I was all over that!

2. Mean Girls

That film is the holy grail and one of the best things to ever happen in the 21st century. Not that I’m being over dramatic or anything. It still is and always will be one of the best films ever, the quotes and everything. You go Glen Coco.

3. Bebo

Towards the end of the 00s I was obsessed with Bebo, never heard of it? Don’t make me feel old okay. It was a little bit like Facebook, but you could change your skin and you could have quotes (of course I was a basic teen and had cute quotes about that special someone! Sending hearts daily because I could too!

4. Lindsey Lohan

Let’s be honest Lindsey Lohan was in absolutely everything, and we absolutely loved it. Every teen movie, from Confessions of Teenage Drama Queen to my all time favourite Mean Girls, it was like the unspoken law of the 00s that these movies would need to be watched constantly.

5. Jane Norman

We all loved those bags, we would go to Jane Norman and get those bags put our gym kits in, and basically carry them anywhere and everywhere! They were very much a necessity!

6. Wanting to have a wardrobe like Lizzie McGuire

Growing up I always adored her wardrobe, I mean in the 00s it was literally the height of fashion, it was sheer perfection! Her denim jacket was always goals though!

7. Living on MSN

I loved MSN! Honestly it was the best thing ever, I’d waste so many hours on it just to speak to the friends that I had basically seen all day. Putting hearts in between the names of the people who I classed as my closest friends because that was just how teen me rolled.

8.Uggs over jeans

Pretty sure I even attempted to wear this combo in the summer mainly because I feel like I was at my coolest then!

9. Avril Lavigne

If you didn’t at least listen to Sk8ter boi at least twice a day then you were missing out on this perfect song in history!

10. Quoting lyrics on absolutely everything

Lyrics was basically every tweet, every Facebook status, you name it, it was everything!

What are your favourite bits about the 00s? Let me know in the comments!

Pahahaha yes I remember all of these things. Mean Girls is definitely one of my favourite films ever, still, to this day, and I could watch it over and over again. I was also all about having those oh so subtle quotes about boys in my bebo quote, and ‘sharing the love’ on people’s walls! Actually sitting here at my desk laughing about it now! Great post gal.

Hahaha! Oh my god, I’ve been thinking about Bebo so much recently! I used to make absolutely terrible skins! And let’s not forget Lindsey Lohan was in Just My Luck – alongside McFly! I have to say though, I never went through the Jane Norman/ Helly Hanson phase, (though I had the HH jacket and hated it!) but I remember everyone around me having one!

  7. 23/05/2017 / 11:02 am

I was more of a 90s kid but spent my teenage years in the 2000s and loved every single thing you listed. I vividly remember crying -aged about 15- because my Mum wanted to use the phone and I’d have to come off MSN for ten minutes haha.

WOW! MSN is such a throwback!

My first phone was a flip phone, however, I once had the Chattrbox K360 (…or something along those lines) which was a horizontal sliding phone. I was IN LOVE with it!

Yessssss I love this! I had the Motorola Pebl when I was a kid, the pink one ofc! Lizzie McGuire was just goals, I always tried to copy her hairstyles, including hair crimpers 😂 Bebo and MSN were the best too, do you remember switching your ‘Appear Offline’ status on then off again to make someone notice you? 😂 such a simpler time!
