Over the last year I’ve been falling in love with books all over again, actual physical books rather than on my kindle – which I kind of need to find. Anyway I’ve always been a book lover, even when I was a kid, I always asked for books and with the weather being nicer, I’m loving being able to sit in the garden, read a book in the shade and appreciate the breeze. I’ve got some seriously amazing books in my to be read section, some I bought a while back and I’ll be like oooh new book!
1. Sue Monk Kidd – The Secret Life Of Bees
I’ve been wanting to read this forever, it’s a book that is set in 1964 in South Carolina, and tells a story about a girl named Lily Owens. Her life has been shaped around a blurred memory of the day her mother was killed, and I have wanted to read it since someone I follow (I can’t remember who) recommended it for being such an incredible book. I read all different kinds of books, different settings and different story lines, this one is so different for me, but I’m excited to read it!
2. Sophie Kinsella – My Not So Perfect Life
I’m pretty sure that everyone has read this book and I have loved Sophie Kinsella since I read Confessions of a Shopaholic, and I have pretty much every other book after that in my collection, I mean I adore her and her writing style! This book is all about Katie Brenner and her life basically, I think the title really drew me in, because let’s be honest, no one has a perfect life, and I’m pretty sure I’m going to relate to this book more than anything in the world!
3. Margaret Atwood – The Handmaid’s Tale
I’ve been wanting to watch the TV series ever since my husband mentioned it, but because it’s a book I really want to read the book first before I watch something. Yep I’m one of those people that has to read the book before I watch something. I’ve heard so many good things about the TV show and the book, but I need to dive into this book asap so I can watch the show!
4. Shari Lapena – A Stranger In The House
I’ve actually just finished this (when I wrote this post I actually hadn’t started this) and it is very odd book but so good! It starts off with an accident involving Karen Krupp, she has amnesia and she cannot remember what happened and what caused her to leave her house without her phone, without locking the door. Not only that there has been a murder – was she involved, but also what is she hiding?
5. Heather Morris – The Tattooist of Auschwitz
My step dad surprised me with this book, and I’ve been wanting to read it since it came out, I was actually going to ask for it for my birthday next month, but he surprised me! I’ve heard so many amazing things about this book and not only that I definitely think that I’m going to end up sobbing my heart out at this book!
What’s on your to be read pile? Got any recommendations?
